Initially, the Cannister Gun was planned to be a new addition to Unreal Tournament 3. The idea was that it would be a combination of the Bio Rifle, the Grenade Launcher and the Mine Layer, the last two being part of UT 2004s Onslaught weapons. However, the Cannister Gun did not make it into the actual game.
