Per page CSS

I noticed you mentioned 1.9 has per page css. This was one of the main reasons I we were considering wikia instead of strategywiki. Do you have a link I can look over (try it out for MapleStory). -- Prod (Talk) 11:44, 26 February 2007 (CST)

I can't find a link at the moment, but basically you just need to create a CSS class with "page-" then the current page name, e.g. "page-User_talk_DrBob". As a class, that would be in the CSS file as ".page-User_talk_DrBob { background-color: red; }", for example. :-) At the moment, I can't see a way to do it for all pages under a certain parent without manually adding all the class names to the CSS rule. --DrBob (Talk) 12:20, 26 February 2007 (CST)
I would definitely like to look into the possibility of changing the logo to be "thematic" for guides such as Zelda and Mario. We could perhaps stick the characters into the logo, making the site much more personalized. The problem, as you mentioned, is that we'd have to do this for every subpage. That might defeat the novelty somewhat. echelon 23:41, 28 February 2007 (CST)
I don't suppose it would be a large hack to make MediaWiki add classes for all the parent pages to the current page. We could at least suggest it on their Bugzilla. --DrBob (Talk) 01:17, 1 March 2007 (CST)
I've added a bug report on MediaWiki's Bugzilla about this: [1]. --DrBob (Talk) 15:19, 5 March 2007 (CST)

Web Developer

Have you ever used this extension for web cracking stuff; for example "hacking" games such as Try2Hack, Hackthissite, Star Academy, Slyfx and Mod-X? Fun stuff (harmless) if you ever get the chance. --Notmyhandle 11:24, 5 March 2007 (CST)

They look quite fun, thanks. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 12:01, 5 March 2007 (CST)

Image linking

I left this on the TP talk page, but I'll ask it here too. How do you exactly plan to link images to other pages (i.e. not the image's image page)? I must have tried nearly every way I could think of (short of a qif redirect on the image page), and none of them worked. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 17:25, 5 March 2007 (CST)

I'm afraid I don't know. :-P Prod may be able to help you, as will rooting around Wikipedia. --DrBob (Talk) 00:57, 6 March 2007 (CST)

RFA

Aren't you meant to move the discussion to sucessful candidates now that it's over?--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 13:03, 6 March 2007 (CST)

I had absolutely no idea, and trusted that Mason11987 would sort it out (which he has! :-D ). --DrBob (Talk) 13:34, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Thanks for the reminder Rocky. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 15:39, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Questions

I just have a few questions about a few things. First of all, what is the "!" for in Recent Changes, and secondly, what is the purpose of the [mark this article as patrolled] link? Thanks. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 19:49, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Sorry, but I have the exact same questions. I have always wondered what the exclamation marks meant, the same with the [mark this article as patrolled] thing. What does the exclamation mark mean, and what is this: [mark this article as patrolled] for? Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 20:45, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Check his talk page. -- Prod (Talk) 20:57, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Also, what is an easier way of using a signiture with the talk and contributions links without having to type everything out? Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 20:47, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Look through the prefs, there's an option for it. -- Prod (Talk) 20:57, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Image hotlinking

Until the last upgrade it was possible to paste an image URL and have it automatically turn into an image. This was very useful, and would help with what's being discussed at Talk:The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Turning it on is explained on this page. GarrettTalk 21:58, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Done. I was hesitant to enable it before, as we'd rather encourage people to upload guide images, but now that you've provided me with a nice use-case, I've got no problems. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 01:06, 7 March 2007 (CST)

Bulbapedia

I've got a bit of a problem in IE6, the bulbs don't appear, with the new template I'm guessing that I will have to put the link every time I mention a Pokémon in the trainers section unless it's already been mentioned.

P.S to get the é easily hold down Alt Gr key and press E (I'm assuming you're using an english keyboard)----Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:47, 9 March 2007 (CST)

I'm afraid there is absolutely nothing which can be done about the image not appearing — you'll notice that the image for external links doesn't appear either. This is due to a functionality hole in IE6. You should always have been using the {{bp}} template the first time you mention a Pokémon, so there should be no change, apart from now putting the level in the template. I suppose you'll have to manually add the level to subsequent mentions of a Pokémon, unless you want to use the template there as well. --DrBob (Talk) 16:52, 9 March 2007 (CST)
I heard from Ryan Schmidt that the external link isn't meant to appear, oh well, it's only links and tables and pictures and the login on Wikipedia (when I move my cursor over the login it moves under the globe) and the stub template and... Oh, I'm upgrading to firefox now!:p--Rocky

Thanks for the level, it's helped but can you please put in a column for EXP as well, I'd like it so when I put in a number (after level) it comes as "number" EXP(in capitals), I would do it myself but it's protected.----RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:16, 10 March 2007 (CST)

Sorry, I didn't know who to ask but the infobox has gone really wrong in the article

Xenosaga

Hello, I noticed that you'd contacted me on Wikibooks. I set up an account here, as after that last round I doubt if I'll go back there again. You're certainly welcome to contact me on my Wikipedia account though, under the same username.

Now, on to the questions! I would be looking to transwiki a bunch of material over from Wikipedia, and will probably be writing significantly more than a strategy guide. In fact, in-game strategy would probably figure in very, very little. (Though of course, should someone like to write that bit later, great on that too!) I'm looking more to go into the game's plot, characters, unique features, and so on. Is this something that would work alright? Seraphimblade 14:47, 11 March 2007 (CDT)

Yes that will be useful. Most people here at SW don't want us to focus on the game info BEFORE the guide; but yeah I doubt they would delete it if you do it. I've started to do the same thing for Chrono Trigger. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:41, 11 March 2007 (CDT)
As Notmyhandle says, we'd be happy to have you write your guide here, and we'd be OK with plot, characters, etc. (although if you can put some strategy into the guide, it would be good!). I believe Ryan Schmidt has already made sure you're aware of our basic guidelines on your talk page – we operate slightly differently to Wikibooks, because we use sub-pages – but if you've got any more questions, just leave another message on my talk page. Thanks, and happy editing! :-) --DrBob (Talk) 17:05, 11 March 2007 (CDT)

List Redirects

I've just seen the page and it seems a bit pointless, they are in no order that I can see and it's not like someone would check every one for a double. Also here, the count goes wierd until 1014, why does this happen?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:50, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars

Here, the sidebar was wierd, I put a /div in to stop it but I would like to know why it happened because it affected all of the pages.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:05, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Doesn't matter, it was the TOC missing a /div--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:06, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Template:Series Nav

Hey DB; just been checking out the template changes you made and thought that having the contents centered would make them look nicer. Is there anyway we can do this through the series nav or do we have to have like, <div style="text-align:center;></div> (intentional misuse of quote) around every part we want centered? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 10:21, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Done. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 10:25, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

For some reason the image file isn't on the server. I'll delete the image. Would you mind asking MD80 to re-upload it? --DrBob (Talk) 13:05, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Query API

Can we get Wikipedia:User:Yurik/Query API/User Manual installed? For use with Wikipedia:WP:AWB. -- Prod (Talk) 13:01, 25 March 2007 (CDT)

Done. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 14:24, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
Check out Wikipedia:Wikipedia talk:Tools/Navigation popups/FAQ#Other Wikis.3F for one mention how to get query in the right place. Not sure exactly what it does, or if you tried it, but that's the first mention I've found. -- Prod (Talk) 01:39, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Wanted Pages

if you take a look at wanted pages, it has been completely messed up by the AGN, the toc on every page means that the more pages a game has, the more the page is wanted, is there any way top get rid of this in the TOC or AGN to make it so that there is one added for the tocand the others are from links?-- RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:10, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

That's the way it goes, and there's nothing I can do about it. Sorry. :-( I suppose it's useful though, as it is representative of how many places people will be looking for the page, and finding it's not there. --DrBob (Talk) 14:44, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Protection

Can you please protect {{StrategyWiki:Announcements}}, {{AboutSW}} {{PromisingGuide}}, {{CollabOfTheMonth}} and {{Announcements}}, I know that they're not on the main page at the moment but for when we put them there.-- RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:54, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

I don't think it's necessary. Those pages aren't used on the front page and should be open for anyone to edit (they are a WIP). -- Prod (Talk) 15:40, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Left Navigation bar layout

I was looking at the MapleStory/Patches and noticed the old left-side-of-table-covered-in-white bug. I played around with Firebug and found that setting #nav_footer and #nav_panel width=150px would stop the overlap. I'm not too sure if that would affect anything else, but it would solve this annoying bug. -- Prod (Talk) 11:14, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

If that doesn't cause any problems in IE, I'll see if I can get it done tomorrow morning. If I don't manage to find the time (i.e. I sleep in too late :-P ) feel free to jump in and do it yourself. Thanks for the investigation. --DrBob (Talk) 17:11, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

Boothby's Source

Shouldn't you change Strategywiki.net to .org in the source?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 08:26, 10 April 2007 (CDT)

When I next update it, I will. Thanks for pointing it out. (Are you using it or something?) --DrBob (Talk) 09:38, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
No, I just saw it on the cleanup page, btw sorry about all of the pages needed for deletion, I set myself doing the FF2 to FF4 thing and it's about 214 pics.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:46, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
That's no problem at all. Good work! --DrBob (Talk) 09:47, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
Sorry it's off the point but how do you make the panoramic screenshots for counter-strike: source, I've got the original and would like to try it out.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:01, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
Here's the page I read about it, but it's only for Source games, so it won't be exactly the same for the original Counter-Strike, since that's a GoldSrc game. --DrBob (Talk) 10:15, 10 April 2007 (CDT)

FFIV

Thank you so much for the Thank you!!!:-D Sw Smiley.jpg--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:03, 10 April 2007 (CDT)

You deserve it. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 14:07, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
Is there any way to put the move tab on images, I've just realised that you can move images and that would have been a lot easier.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:13, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
There isn't (unfortunately), and it's one reason why we'd left all the images which needed moving for so long. It'll appear in the next version of MediaWiki (I think). :-( --DrBob (Talk) 06:52, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
Well I didn't even know until after I was finished and looked at the new rename tag which had move on it. The way I did it was download all of the pics, upload them, add bighead200's name on and mark the old for deletion, moving would have made that much simpler :-(.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 07:41, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
Actually, it gives an error that says this page can't be moved so I did it the right way, though moving them would be easier. I'll get on renaming all other images as well.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:56, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

FF4

I'll put Biggianthead2000's name on all of the histories today.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 02:57, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

Done a few hours ago, I think my task is finally done!!!!--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 07:38, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

Sysop

Thanks for the offer, but I think we'd better run it through RFA first.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:51, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

BTW There's only 180 odd images left anyway.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:53, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
Excellent, what do I do as a sysop, except delete images? Thanks So Much.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:58, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

When adding previous editors to the new versions of the images, should I put all contributors or just the ones that addded a new version of the image?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:19, 11 April 2007 (CDT) P.S Is there anything to stop an admin from blocking himself, I haven't tried yet? :-P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:27, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

P.P.S The software doesn't take kindly to blocking in decimals of days, see here--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:36, 11 April 2007 (CDT)

It's probably best to put all contributors, if that's no problem. I've never tried to block myself either, so I can't answer your second question. Probably not though. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 16:59, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
I think you can block yourself but it's frowned upon because it blocks your IP too. :-P. BTW do I have to include addidng the rename tag to images, it will be a real pain with that, FF4 all over again.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 17:07, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
What do you mean "do I have to include addidng the rename tag to images"? --DrBob (Talk) 17:55, 11 April 2007 (CDT)
Sorry, I mean every time I look at the picture it usually has one person uploading the picture, then in the history another person adds the rename tag to most of the images, the person is usually different each time and it's a pain to find in the history and it doubles all the work needed. Take a look here, there's one edit from the creator of the image and the other one is a minor edit by Dukeruckley, do I have to add in Dukeruckley's minor edit adding the rename tag which has been removed because the mage has been deleted. Sorry the explanation's a bit long-winded.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 02:01, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Technically you have to list all contributors, but since all the people adding rename tags are just doing that (and are all nice sysops), I don't think you need bother. --DrBob (Talk) 06:40, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Thanks, that saves me a lot of hassle. :-P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 07:40, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Image

Hi, I've got a slight problem, Image:BGII_Scrn3.jpg is 500KB, much higher than the reccomended level, the thing is I've got the game and could get a better shot which would take up much less space so should I upload the 500KB version first and then upload mine on top of that? Any help would be helpful (Obviously):P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 02:30, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

What software do you use? Programs like Photoshop will let you use higher compression rates to reduce the file size. You can also change the image mode to reduce the file size, i.e. indexing but for Baldur's Gate II I'm not sure if the results would be... pretty. PNG's also let you use special programs to help you compress the file size... hope that helps. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:39, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
No, I've only got Paint Shop Pro 4 but there's a resolution slider in the game so I'll just take that down to the lowest then compress it as a JPG and upload it.
Anyone use GIMP? Does it have compressions? If so, Rocky get that (FREE, Open Source). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:48, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
I'll try that then, I've got it installed somewhere. :P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 03:04, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, the GIMP does compression. In fact, it does most of the things Photoshop does, but just doesn't have as nice an interface. There are also JPG and PNG compression programs you can get on the Internet which do a good job. --DrBob (Talk) 06:44, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Oppose rename

What Should I do if I oppose a rename, I feel like this for Image:PM Bowser.gif, what is wrong with the name?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 08:20, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

You should probably leave it, and note your reasons on the image's talk page. In this case though, I'd just get rid of the {{rename}} from that image, as there's no reason for it to be renamed anyway (as you say). --DrBob (Talk) 08:35, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Image problem

Sorry for bugging you, but I'm having the same problem in firefox and IE, it's with Image:Aquatank.png, when you go to the media.strategywiki website to save it, the only option is Aquatank.png.jpg, is the image actually a Jpg or what, this happens in FF and IE6?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 08:54, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

I've just realised that it's a jpeg, it says on the side, is there any way that we can stop this because it's annoying trying to figure it out.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 08:56, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
There's nothing to stop. :-( MediaWiki will upload files regardless of what people call them; so I could take a PNG image, and upload it as "virus.lol.exe". I don't suppose there will be many images messed up in this way though, so you just need to rename them to ".jpg" (or whatever) on a case-by-case basis. Keep up the good work! :-) --DrBob (Talk) 09:12, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, it says that your screenshots may be malicious content if you look at the desc page in IE6, are they? :-P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:21, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Only to some. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 09:22, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Verry Sorry I didn't mean it like that, BTW too bad Mediawiki hasn't go a virus scanner, it would be heplful because at the moment checking files would take a very long time.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:28, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Didn't mean it like what? It was a joke! I believe MediaWiki does integrate with server-side virus scanners, but that's beside the point, because any file containing a virus would most likely be obviously not legitimate anyway. --DrBob (Talk) 09:30, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Sorry, I didn't realise it was a joke.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:33, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS spelling

DB, the name is actually in all caps, see the link on Super Paper Mario to their site, which states it at the bottom AND their website http://www.intsys.co.jp/english/index.html We should use their name in all caps then right? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 13:01, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

You can if you want to, but I don't think it's worth the effort. It's not that hard to copy and paste something into the search box. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 06:21, 13 April 2007 (CDT)

Welcome Back

Hello DrBob! Welcome back to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your 10323 contributions. If you have any questions about how to test the wikimarkup, then just be bold and do it yourself here, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help rectify the damage if you can't fix it. If need to give some help then check out the staff lounge. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually editing, just post on our talk pages. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page so we can start a flame war. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png Which is a lot harder than using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name, the date and possibly a sigexpand code or an image. Remember to customise your sig so it uses custom css. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your excellent work (unless you're a bot then life kinda sucks). Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you must, or keep it for references that you don't really need. Happy editing and welcome back! --RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:47, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

This sounds strangely familiar...anyway, I'm not fully back, as I've still got two exams to go, but I'll be back next week. ;-) --DrBob (Talk) 08:07, 20 June 2007 (CDT)
BTW, you might want to check out StrategyWiki talk:Community Portal/2007/June#Front page placement of Continue Nav and TOC revisited. (with respect to Balloon Fight). -- Prod (Talk) 18:48, 20 June 2007 (CDT)
I remember glancing over that a week or so ago (anonymously :-P ), and deciding that I need not comment. As far as I remember, I was happy with the outcome (I don't have time to re-read it now, but I reserve the right to look back over it later and completely change my opinion ;-). --DrBob (Talk) 12:06, 24 June 2007 (CDT)

Question about breaks

I notice you were doing some cleanup and you changed <br> to <br />. Coming from someone without much experience in that area, what is the difference? Oh, and welcome back! It's great to see the recent changes list filled up with your edits again!--DukeRuckley 12:06, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

The difference is that <br> is HTML, while <br /> is XHTML. As XHTML is a dialect of XML, its tags all have to be closed. You'd normally close a tag with </tagname>, but since <br /> encapsulates no content, it has to self-close, and that's what the " /" does. :-) It's great to be back! --DrBob (Talk) 12:20, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Request for Adminship

I humbly accept your nomination. Thanks DB, are you going to set up the RfA page for me (it says the nominator is supposed to <_< >_>)? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:55, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

Thank You

Thanks DB. I appreciate both your initial nomination of me for adminship and your additional supporting vote. I hope to see you in IRC more often. That reminds me, the abxy irc server has been down for a while now hasn't it? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:14, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

No problem. I'm surprised somebody didn't nominate you sooner, although as the comments on the nomination show, many people thought you were a sysop already. :-P I should be on IRC whenever the server's up now that I've finished my exams. --DrBob (Talk) 14:13, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

pokemon Mystery Dugeon/Walkthrough

I put it there because it couldn't be turned into what was suggested on the talk page, and it has no usful content as of now. It will have to be majorly redone if it's going to stay. Myth 23:38, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Image Protection

Do we need to protect Image:Achievement unlocked.png because it is in the common.css file or do we not need to bother?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:46, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Good idea. :-) Consider it done. --DrBob (Talk) 09:56, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Should we protect everything in there or not bother?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:10, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Actually, do you think the controller buttons should be protected cuz they'reused a lot.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:18, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
That's also a good idea. Do you want to do that? Protect them so that only sysops can edit/move them. --DrBob (Talk) 10:19, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Sure, I'll start now.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:20, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Having done that, perhaps we should consider promoting Blendmaster to sysop, should he ever return to add more controller button images? Procyon (Talk) 15:43, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
When he returns, I think so yes. --DrBob (Talk) 15:50, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Do you think we should put a link to this in the high risk template?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:57, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm on it. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 11:12, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Logos

The logos that you are uploading don't render correctly at all in IE6, the PSP is a small dot and PC loos horrible.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:09, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

I'll talk to Teddy about it (he made them). Thanks for telling me. --DrBob (Talk) 14:11, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
You can fix them by removing transparency, do you want me to do it?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:21, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Teddy's done it, and I'll re-upload them in a minute. --DrBob (Talk) 14:24, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Do you think that it'd be a good idea to upload them with a white background, IE6 renders the pics with a gray background and it looks a bit weird. Or you might upload them as trasparent gifs which work fine.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:03, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Are you running without JavaScript on? MediaWiki's JS should fix the transparency for you. --DrBob (Talk) 15:17, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
I guess so, I haven't changed any IE settings so I think it's default for IE to have no JavaScript (on this site anyway).--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:23, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
On another note, it looks awful without the site having some sort of min-width. Plus, I don't think the icons have to be that big - they can be made smaller. And since this is quite a significant addition, I'm pulling it off the main page until we can get formal community input on it.--Dan 20:33, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
How's the community supposed to comment on it if they can't see it? :-P I'm fine with waiting for community consensus, but it needs to be up on the front page for them to comment on it... --DrBob (Talk) 20:37, 1 July 2007 (CDT)
Copy and paste the front page source to another page but with your changes, and use that to showcase your changes. Simple.--Dan 11:13, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
Wasteful if you ask me, but hey. --DrBob (Talk) 11:32, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
Resources aren't a worry here - it's just a page that you're using to show people your changes. It's better that your feature is well tested and supplemented than having it prematurely thrown on the front page with no notice in advance.--Dan 11:36, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
Be bold. --DrBob (Talk) 11:36, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
Yes, but not jump in front of a train with a new change that breaks some peoples' view of the front page-bold.--Dan 11:44, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I wasn't aware that anything got broken. --DrBob (Talk) 11:50, 2 July 2007 (CDT)
I was trying to be bold! :P echelontalk 13:54, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Heretic

I can't see the talk pages of this guide. Vikrant AP 10:53, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

thank you for your hard work

I just wanted to come by and thank you for doing some cleanup on the pages I'm working on, I really appreciate it... especially since I don't have access to spellcheck right now and my spelling is pretty bad. Hopefully I will understand required page elements soon so I won't continue running around making more work for you to do. --Zaiqukaj 08:49, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

Re: Stub Pages

I was intending to put info there soon, and put only the footer navs there so I wouldn't have to worry about them when I came in to edit. Thanks for noticing, though. Myth (talk) 21:03, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

High Risk

Sorry, I thought redirects would make it a bit easier as I was continually spelling it wrong.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 00:48, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

Category:All-Star

Aren't they series not genres? -- Prod (Talk) 21:14, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

Whoops, yes. That's what you get for doing things late at night. Thanks. (Fixed.) --DrBob (Talk) 06:08, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Holidays

Lewis started writing a FFX guide (or re-doing the one already there - it's awful) so I thought I'd help him out a bit. Otherwise I haven't actually been that bored, how about you? Remember 7th July. Jofunu6 (talk) 12:41, 5 July 2007 (GMT)

Image:Flag of the United Kingdom.svg

In the weird version of IE6 that I use, this only shows the top left-hand corner of the pic, is it just me or did something go wrong with the upload, Other SVGs work OK for me (Minus transparency cuz this site's got a problem with it)--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 13:53, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

I think something's wrong with the image. I'm trying to fix it at the moment. --DrBob (Talk) 13:54, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

External links

I noticed you changed the l to L. On WP they use lowercase so I thought we could stick to their standard (especially since it's an autochange by AWB :P). -- Prod (Talk) 19:20, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Sounds good. I thought WP always used to use Title Case for external links, but hey. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 05:28, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
Also, I'm moving the WP box down into the External links section. We are not a sister site for them (and they wouldn't let us have a similar box on their pages). Additionally, their pages aren't that useful from a guide perspective since they actively remove anything that could be considered guidelike. I only leave it below the infobox if there is no external links section. It also has a habit of messing up some of the layout on ie (sometimes, depending on where it's put in the wikicode). -- Prod (Talk) 20:05, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
Fair enough. --DrBob (Talk) 07:36, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

Pyro Maniac

Hi DrBob. I touched up the comments that I left for pyro. I didn't realize that he was younger. How did you know? Or did you just infer it from his writing style. There was nothing personal about what I wrote, I was just trying to nip certain problems in the bud before they got out of control. Anyway, I hope that it looks better now. I would love to be on the IRC, but UPS has a no IRC policy. One day I was on there, and a UPS admin actually tracked down what server I was on, joined, and /msged me to sign off! Reply: transformers the game guide

Sorry, no, i Won't be able to add to that guide sorry. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pyro maniac (talkcontribs) .

Release dates

I think we have consensus to use something, but I still prefer the flagicon version, mainly for compatibility reasons. We should take this to msn with Garrett. -- Prod (Talk) 10:35, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

Final Fantasy X

Sorry, but I've lost motivation to do this. StrategyWiki randomly decided to forget I'd done a part of the walkthrough that took me some two or three hours to do and I don't have the saves for anymore. I swear I made the page, and now it's no longer there. --MutantJones July 9, 2007 23:42

Is it possible for you to delete a page in this guide (FFX), namely the villains page? Not only does it only contain one line, it's also a rather large spoiler, and is pretty much totally useless. The page overlaps somewhat with non-plyable characters, which I intend to add to (i.e. make specific articles for the characters) shortly. This article would also need deleting from the contents and nav bar. If this isn't the correct place for deletion requests please tell me so I can put them in the right place in future. Thanks. --Jofunu6 July 12, 2007 18:52

Professional help please .

I'm sure i'm in the right place here i would need help starting up an article . Well i know how to start a new article but some required templates is where i need help with as i don't know which ones to use and how (even if i need practice in the sandbox) . Any help would be helpful thanks . In case you were wandering the article would be about Military Madness for the Turbografx and the Wii's virtual console . Richardson j 18:24, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

Don't worry about it DrB, I took care of it. Procyon (Talk) 20:28, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
