Wiki markup[edit]

Hi, thanks for adding content to the Solomon's Key guide! I just wanted to let you know that some helpful information on using wiki markup can be found in our user guide. We try to stick to wiki markup as opposed to HTML tags so that any contributor can easily edit pages without needing HTML knowledge. You can see some of the conversion I've done on your recent edits for examples of making your contributions more editor-friendly. Thanks for keeping the wiki accessible! — najzereT 18:01, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Military Madness table of contents[edit]

Hi, I modified the Table of Contents page to be in line with current standards, meaning controls go on their own page or in the Getting Started page if they're not complex and we don't normally have "gameplay" or "story" pages. If you take a look at other strategy games, you'll find that a "units" page is pretty standard. Gameplay stuff could go in either Getting Started or the Walkthrough page, depending on how they're set up, or you can put it on its own page like you had it if there's enough information. The reason I split it up is it only had info on controls and units, which we normally put in their own spaces. Hope that makes sense, and thanks for working on another guide! — najzereT 20:10, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box, which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — najzereT 20:16, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Military Madness Storyboard deletion[edit]

Hi, the storyboard page you made has been marked for deletion, as we don't make entire pages about a game's plot or story (see our scope policy). If you'd like to keep the story, please move it to an appropriate place – either the walkthrough page (where I originally put it) as an introduction to viewers beginning to read the guide, or below the {{Continue Nav}} on the guide's main page. Thanks, — najzereT 16:04, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

The Story doesn't tell you anything you need to know about playing the game. That is why I thought the more appropriate place would be to tuck it away in the appendix. If that violates StrategyWiki convention, then I recommend taking it out entirely. JonKarak 17:51, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Okay, well I moved it to the main page, since all it was missing to become unstubbed was a story section. Thanks for the quick response! — najzereT 18:06, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Military Madness images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — najzereT 18:10, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Also, if you want to rename an image, you can mark it with the {{rename|new name}} template and an administrator will move it for you. This way you don't have to upload a duplicate file, which requires deleting the original. Thanks, — najzereT 18:10, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
My suggestion is to add a note in the upload page providing instructions on the proper way to rename a file. Another place might be within the message of the "duplicate file upload" error. JonKarak 01:41, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
That's a good idea, I'll look into it. Thanks! — najzereT 16:11, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
