Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Orion35! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or ask a sysop, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Thanks for working on FRLG[edit]

Hey, just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work on the Fire Red Leaf Green guide. I just wanted to encourage you to steal liberally from the Pokémon Red and Blue guide as much as you like, and conversely update the Red and Blue wherever necessary. The more parity there exists between the two guides, the better in my opinion. Thanks again. Procyon 15:02, 25 July 2016 (UTC)

Just a note: be careful with the colors you're adding to the Pokemon Trainer tables. Black text on dark colors can be very difficult to read. Try choosing lighter or more washed-out colors so that the text is easier to read. Alternatively, you could try changing the text color to white, but I really don't recommend that approach (make it harder to maintain.) Thank you. Procyon 02:08, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Adding a new page[edit]

Hi Orion35. Adding a new page is no problem, and should be fairly simple. The easiest way to do it is to simply add a new link to the page you'd like to create in the table of contents. So in your case, head over to Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen/Table of Contents and simply add in new links to pages that you'd like to create. The link to each page is in a similar format, so if for example, you wanted to name the new page Viridian Gym, then you would insert the following line into the list of pages at the right location:

# Viridian Gym

When you save the page, the new link will be red, meaning the page doesn't exist yet. That's fine. Go ahead and click on it. When you do, you'll be presented with the chance to create the new page, and there will be a selection of template buttons at the top to help you get started. Choose the one that says Guide page, and it will prepopulate the Header Nav and Footer Nav for you. Then it's up to you to add the new content. This should help you get started. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! Procyon 02:02, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. . Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Procyon 04:40, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

This is important to us. If you wouldn't mind, could you please edit the maps that you uploaded (just as you would any other page), and add to each image? Ideally, you should add as well to any image that's a map. Then the next time you upload a new image, you can add these in right away in the description. Thanks again for helping us out. Procyon 04:40, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi Orion34. I notice that you just uploaded File:Pokemon FRLG Cape Brink.png, but you did not add any of the categories as I described to you above. Could you please go back and do that now? Also, could you please respond to this message so that I know you've seen it? Thanks very much. Procyon 00:28, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Hey there. Sorry, I just noticed your message a second ago. I'll do the changes.. once I figure out how to do them. Again, my apologies.Orion35 (talk) 00:31, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Hey, no worries, no need to apologize. Here's the thing though, you don't need to reupload the images at all. You can just edit the description of an image the same way you edit a page. Thanks either way. Procyon 02:06, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Actually, re-uploading the image doesn't work at all it seems. My bot has gone through and corrected a few. -- Prod (talk) 17:10, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Blanking pages[edit]

Instead of deleting all of the content from a page and saving it empty, could you please place one of the following templates at the top of the page? Use delete with a message explaining why none of the content of a page should be kept. Or use rename with a proposed new name if you want the contents of a page moved to a new location. Thanks. Procyon 14:10, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

My bad, I'm sorry. I'll remember that for the future. As i'm close to finishing Fire Red/Leaf Green, I plan to continue the Gold/Silver/Crystal guide, and I guess there might be some more adding and deleting there. Once again, my bad.Orion35 (talk) 14:42, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
No need to apologize, it's all good. Your edits are invaluable, and you have a very good sense of what does, and does not, belong in a guide. We give a large amount of latitude to primary authors when they're focused on a guide, we just want to maintain an aspect of democracy when it comes to content. Frankly, if you say those codes are no good, that's good enough for me, it's just a good idea to document the history of that decision somewhere so people understand why the content was removed. That's all. Keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to seeing your contributions to Gold/Silver/Crystal. I was responsible for a lot of that guide. Procyon 01:14, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah, I looked at the Gold/Silver guide and noticed that most of the important stuff is there (good job on that by the way), so mostly what I'm going to do for the guide is what I've done for Fire Red/Leaf Green, that is fill in the holes and improve the latter pages. I'm mostly going to hit Gold/Silver because eventually I will continue with Heart Gold/Soul Silver (which unlike Gold/Silver, will require a ton of work), and I figure that there will be a lot of synergy between the guides. Thanks for all the help!Orion35 (talk) 04:27, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

If you're moving a lot of content from one page to another, please make sure to reference the original page. We need to keep edit histories intact. You can also rename pages if you need to with the "Move" tab. -- Prod (talk) 13:55, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Gotcha, my bad, I'll keep it in mind for the future.Orion35 (talk) 13:56, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
Also, one more small, unrelated thing. Please work on your edit summaries a little bit. "Making the page prettier" isn't very useful, as it doesn't really explain how you changed the page, or what information you added to it. It's not big deal, but edit summaries are more helpful than you think. Thanks. Procyon 00:08, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
