Enabling $wgAllowSlowParserFunctions[edit]

The name in itself is a little discouraging. This won't completely kill the server or murder it in some other resource-intensive way, will it? Will we have the power to moderate its usage?--Dan 21:37, 30 April 2007 (CDT)

Well, it's been enabled. Enjoy.--Dan 19:52, 1 May 2007 (CDT)
:( It doesn't work, I thought the ":R" in the Meta page meant add a title here but it actually took 1,000 and made it 1000, this means we can't do the count unless there's a way to make the PAGESINNS go into cats. P.S how do you get cplimit to work in the query.php, every time I try it with a cat, it comes out blank e.g here.RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:14, 2 May 2007 (CDT)
They are working on a function to count articles in a category. It is not checked in yet but it should be soon... (I think). -- Prod (Talk) 07:34, 2 May 2007 (CDT)
Err.. Prod who's they, the MW team or us?RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:14, 2 May 2007 (CDT)

User:Bbddtt[edit]

Is this vandalism? I don't play MapleStory?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:25, 13 May 2007 (CDT)

Answered at User talk:Bbddtt.

Image:Tpwalkthrough.jpg[edit]

What do you want me to do with this, do you want me to reformat it because it's a jpg and I don't think that you can add transparency to those?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 13:46, 16 May 2007 (CDT)

I'll do it, I have a program that can format it as .png and add transparency. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 19:04, 16 May 2007 (CDT)
Done, I'll start on the rest of the pages in the transparency category now. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:49, 16 May 2007 (CDT)

Cedricong900[edit]

Can I tweak the block to stop account creation, it's only for 1 day and I want to check something out.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:18, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

I was giving the account the benefit of the doubt by not blocking account creation, IP address, etc. Because I really don't know 100% that Cedricong900 is the same person as Cedricong, I left it open for that person to create a non-Cedricong named account (as you can see on User talk:Cedricong900). If, in that one day, the person was truly legitimate and just picked a bad name and coincidentally started adding stuff to MapleStory (which I don't think was entirely vandalism, just didn't follow formatting and guidelines) and tried to create another account that got autoblocked, that would discourage a potential good editor. If you truly wish to experiment, create another account yourself, block it w/ account creation blocked (highly suggest you don't block the IP though :P), and test it out (you can always unblock later--even if your IP is blocked, too (I think, don't quote me on that), it won't block Rocky, so it should be fine). If another account with Cedricong in it is created by the time Echelon gets CheckUser running, I'll (or someone else will) be able to verify for sure if they are in fact the same person. (sorry for the incredibly long response). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:08, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

What did I do?[edit]

You (somewhat rudely) asked me to look at the Strategy Wiki Guidelines. But what did I do? The only thing I can think of is adding my name to a guide, when you're not supposed to. Can you please tell me what I did wrong? Confused, Myth 21:40, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for the helpful advice. And you're forgiven. I really didn't know what I was doing, and I didn't want to make mistakes. And frankly, the Strategy Wiki introduction article really isn't that helpful; I didn't know until you told me how to indent, start a numbered list, or start a new paragraph. Also, if you corrected my walkthrough for Kollin and my items list, it's much appreciated. I thought I'd have to delete my Kollin Walkthrough because it wasn't in th right format. Thanks again, Myth 22:07, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

Content usually never gets deleted unless it is a copyright violation or obvious vandalism (and then it is usually reverted, not deleted). Also, the meat of the introductory article is in the subpages, not the first page. If you check out StrategyWiki:Guide/Table of Contents, you can see what it all has to offer. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 22:11, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

submit content?[edit]

I have a question. Is it okay if I submit content to any of you so you can post it correctly for me? That's what someone mentioned me to do on my talk page, and I was just wondering if that would be something you could do easily and relatively quickly. Thanks,Myth 11:29, 18 May 2007 (CDT)

Completed a walkthrough[edit]

Hello, Ryan! I am happy to anounce that I have completed the Kollin walkthrough, and I would like you to look it over. It would be much appreciated. Sincerely,Myth 12:08, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Buttons[edit]

Thanks for the advice and any help'd be appreciated. Thanks--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 13:57, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

I found the images online, so I'll jump to that. Also, you should seriously get GiMP, it rocks (I use it :P) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 13:59, 19 May 2007 (CDT)
No need really, I've got Fireworks (It's good but feature overload at the moment).

P.S Cedricong's IP had already been blocked at 18:21 on the 10th of May (see log) so he may come back. If I remember the block was only for a day on his IP and it doesn't give it away, it was #119 in the block log (I think). If you want to test out blocking then block me (Sysops can unblock themselves, see here).RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 14:58, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

I've bolded the A button it a bit, is it OK?RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:02, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

The button looks fine, but I wasn't testing out blocking, I was trying to block his IP address (I thought that you didn't, but I guess you did). I really hope Ech gets CheckUser up, because I have a feeling Cedricong is using a dynamic IP (one that changes within a certain range every time it connects to the internet), so I'd love to do an IP range block, just have to know the IPs first. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 15:04, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

N64 buttons[edit]

Hi Ryan. Just for the time being, I propose that we recycle the SNES Dpad button (and the four Dpad directions), the SNES L and R shoulder burrons, and the Wii Nunchuck analog stick. That would leave only the Z button, which I could possible create by modifying the Wii-mote B button. I think the more consistent we are with the look of the controls, the better, so why not borrow from ourselves whenever we can. What do you think? Procyon (Talk) 20:06, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Sounds good, but check out my image of the Z button to see if it looks good (if it doesn't, sure, use the modified Wii B) (And the Wii nunchuk analog stick was borrowed from the gamecube analog stick, btw :P) --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:14, 19 May 2007 (CDT)
The indentation of the "Z" needs to be made more apparent, but my skills stop directly before that line. I found the Z to be the most visible at about 400% zoom, if that helps. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:34, 19 May 2007 (CDT)
Hi Ryan. I did the best that I could, but lacking a usable photograph of how the light bounces off the surface of the Z button, I had to eyeball it and fake it on my own, and I'm no graphic artist... Feel free to play around with it. Procyon (Talk) 16:17, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Deletion of second note[edit]

Why is my second note about the list of items in Spectrobes/Kollin deleted? Can you tell me why it was deleted? You said you didn't delete things unless they were obvious vandalism. And that was totally not vandalism on my part. Sincerely, Myth 20:48, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

It really wasn't a good spot to include a link to the items list right there, as it doesn't pertain very much to the walkthrough (plus the items list is a bit lacking at the moment). Also, people can easily pop open the ToC nestled in the All Game Nav and go to it via that route (provided, of course, they figure out that the ToC is in the All Game Nav). If you really feel that the link should be there, add it back. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:14, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

review of Genshi?[edit]

Hi, Ryan! I am currently working on the Genshi strategy guide, and though it is a bit incomplete I would appreciate it very much. Sincerely, Myth 21:40, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Finished, not complete[edit]

I would like to clear up the point I made earlier about the completion of the Spectrobes/Kollin article. I really shouldn't have said complete, but it is most certainly finished. The boss strategy is finished, the walkthrough is finished, and as far as sidequests, if you've played Spectrobes, it is very straight forward. You rarely have to visit the same area of a planet twice, as a matter of fact. And as far as screenshots, I would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me how you do that. Sincerely, Myth 19:17, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for the tip on screenshots![edit]

Thank you very much for the instructions on how to format screenshots! It is very helpful and I hope to be able to get some screenshots on the Spectrobes/Kollin page, as well as any other Spectrobes page I'm working on!! Thanks again, Myth 23:35, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Header Nav and customprev[edit]

Hi, you don't have to do it, Prod's got a bot on the case.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:15, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

I WANT TO DANG IT! :P Actually, I wanted to do Twilight Princess myself and not let Auto Prod Bot steal all of the glory. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 11:16, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

HN[edit]

No offense, but please stick to "your" guides (as in ones you've written). I'm running a spell check and a few other "cleanup" things at the same time. -- Prod (Talk) 16:10, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

Sorry, didn't seem that you were working on MapleStory at the time (and the only reason I don't contribute to MS is because everything that I would write has already been written). --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 16:12, 27 May 2007 (CDT)
Heh, it's gotten to the point that I do more for other guides now :P. And there are quite a few spelling mistakes throughout, this gives me a chance to essentially spell check the whole of strategywiki :) (or at least common stuff). -- Prod (Talk) 16:17, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

How to play discussion[edit]

Hi Ryan. The tests in the Sandbox look really cool. But I don't want to come along and suddenly force a change on everybody. I want there to be a consensus if enough people actually agree with me. I know that, for one, Prod doesn't entirely feel the way that I do, so if I'm in the minority, then it's best not to change it, and like people have been saying, my guides are usually so small and contained that it doesn't hurt that much if they differ a bit. This all started because I wanted to bring the guides that I started more in line with the rest of the site, you know? That's funny for me to say cuz I'm usually such a non-conformist! ^_^ Boy I really need to clean up my talk page :P Procyon (Talk) 15:42, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

Mario's Picross images[edit]

Sure, I will rename the existing images and start uploading any new ones with the game's full name instead. To rename images, all I need to do is reupload under the new name and then mark the old image for deletion, right? Or is using the Rename template preferred? Thanks! --Deasean 23:12, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

Guide of the Month[edit]

Hey this is just an apology about what I said in reply to your comments about the CoD2 guide in the Guide of the Month page. I was wrong to backlash like that and I hope you accept the apology. I was being a bit unfair and geezy and it was a late night - although thats no excuse for my behaviour.

Most guides I have seen (mainly ones on Gamefaqs) don't use the neutral point of view and are mostly large chunks of text, so I kind of made the pages to look like them, not knowing that you don't do that on StrategyWiki. Sorry again. Poiuytre 04:49, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Anagrams[edit]

The longest I can come up with are "stain" and "inset". Is your word longer than that? :P GarrettTalk 16:53, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

yes, but you should really answer on the designated talk page. --SkizzerzTalk - Contribs 17:07, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
