No, thank you![edit]

Hello again. Thank you very much for the tips and for the welcome message too. As you can see I am still unexperienced about the Wiki options. Now I'm back to the Guide reading. 4443 10:58, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

Card[edit]

I've found a good pic for wheel war here, what do ou think?--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 03:34, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Maybe not wheel war, but I can definitely find a card for it. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 09:33, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
What about this (Possibly edited) for the vadal whacking stick :-P--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 11:30, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
I already have something in mind for the User:Ryan Schmidt/FakeLink, but thanks for the suggestion. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 11:48, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
Skizzers, I can tell it's fake, it's the only time a symbol will show up after a link in IE6 :P.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 12:27, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, and it doesn't get the dotted blue box around it when clicked. I just wanted to make it appear like a link (I do seriously have an image for it though, it's right User:Ryan Schmidt/FakeLink (yes, that is a real link). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 13:37, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the support Ryan. Like you I was admitted as an admin within just a few days after being nominated; I appreciate the belated comment (I like how you reverted it ahaha). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:52, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

I didn't notice that I was redirected or the "Notmyhandle is now a Cabalist Sysop" message. I can change your card too, just tell me the new type (and/or new text). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 21:46, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
You should make cards for all the admins, creature type = sysop or bureaucrat, I don't care about the color. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:08, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Secret Passage[edit]

Hi Ryan. The treasure chest in the secret passage does in fact contain a lamp, but only if you failed to get the lamp from the chest at home. I make a note of that fact in the walkthrough. I am intentionally scaling the maps down so that they're not too imposing in the walkthrough. I'd like to think that everyone in the world is like me, and views SW in nothing less than 1024 wide resolution, but with things like the Wii, and the iPhone (Dana actually navigated to SW on hers, it looks... interesting), I don't want to force too large an image on people. Map sizes are something I struggled with on Pokemon RBY as well. There's just no getting around the fact that the maps are best presented by making them just as large as they need to be to make out pathways, but not so large that they take over the page. Procyon (Talk) 14:35, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

I was actually thinking of having a larger image on the image page and a scaled down version on the walkthrough page (like having the image be 600x600, and having [[Image:Image name|200px]] when calling it), but your reasoning makes sense too. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:06, 9 July 2007 (CDT)
Hi Ryan, those imagemaps are awesome! Great job! I was thinking about what else the guide needs. After having completed Kakariko Village, I realized that more in-game screenshot would be very useful for illustrating some of the less obvious aspects that the text describes. I don't know if that's something that you would be particularly interested in, but if you are, it would be extraordinarily helpful. Procyon (Talk) 14:22, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Thanks! It's always nice to hear when one's work is valued. I'll see what things might need screens. Otherwise, here are a few other things on my list of things to do:
  • Get a screenshot for every piece of heart
  • Get movies of boss fights
  • Find boss artwork
  • The walkthrough (duh!)
I've tried to talk my friend into working on the guide too (his username is Youtube). He has the GBA version, so he could probably help pick up discrepancies between the two versions. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:23, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm happy to help as well though I'll probably restart the file that I used before to get the new version of the walkthrough.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:29, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
o_O Rocky, please don't be offended by this, but you occasionally write some very incoherent sentences. They may make sense to you as you are writing them, but I've reread that sentence three times, and I still don't understand it.
Ryan: screenshots for every piece of heart - Great idea, but exclusively for Heart Pieces page so that we don't spoil it for anyone who doesn't want to know. Movies of boss fights - I really don't know how useful this idea is, but I only say that because as a user of SW, I would never bother watching them. Maybe other users feel differently, but no fight is so difficult that I'd be completely stumped after reading a concise, well-written description. Boss artwork - I loooooove, love, love, love artwork. Bah-ring it on! The walkthrough - As with the Pokemon stuff, if it's alright with everyone, I'd love to lay down the foundation, and have people come behind to fix the mistakes/add any omissions. If you add stuff to the walkthrough, I will try to work around it, and preserve as much as I can, but as you've seen, I've rewritten a lot of Garrett's work pretty drastically (and I feel kind of bad about that, but I don't know what else to do.) Procyon (Talk) 15:52, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
Hmm, funny. To me, what Rocky said made perfect sense. At least, I think I know what he said. Allow me to re-phrase (Rocky, let me know if I got it right): He was going to help out my friend find discrepancies between the SNES and GBA version, but in order to do so, he needs to restart his file because the walkthrough has been re-written. @Procyon: The boss movies were more for bragging rights than anything else. "Hey, look at us, we have MOVIES! And what do you have? Some pitiful ASCII Art? HA!" for GameFAQs, and a "Ok, ok, so you have a walkthrough with screenshots. But guess what? We have MOVIES! Beat that!" for IGN. As for the heart pieces, that's where I was going to put them to begin with anyway :). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 16:44, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
LOL, I don't make sense to myself sometimes xD. Anyway yeah, I started using Garett's walkthrough and added bits on. But I might as well start the file again to check Proc's work. I personally don't watch movies that much but some ppl will (usually people that need a bit of help or with something complicated that can't be explained well) like the movie on ths page.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:40, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Imagemaping[edit]

Hi Ryan. I spoke with Echelon last night, and he liked the idea that I had for the maps, which I've implemented on the Eastern Palace page, where we add room numbers to the map to make the walkthrough easier to read. The way that it was before, if you wanted to learn about a room in the middle of the Palace, you'd have to skim through the entire block until you found what you are looking for. This way, a player can jump right to the section that he or she is interested in. Echelon mentioned that it would be great if we could image map each individual room. I realize that might be a huge pain in the neck, but if there was anyway for us to do it, that would be amazing. What do you think? Procyon (Talk) 10:18, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

lol, we messaged each other at the same time. I would defer to Echelon about the water mark. That's a call only he should make. I'm fine with it, but I don't know he would feel (although if I had to guess, I'd assume he'd be for it too.) Procyon (Talk) 10:18, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Actually, I think the label/map differentiation idea is great. The only thing is that it would need to be made clear to the user, but that's probably doable in the caption of the thumb/frame. Procyon (Talk) 10:27, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Use thumbs. As you know in both thumb and frames that the little icon in the description area takes you to a larger version of that image. However, when you use <imagemap> on a framed image, that icon disappears. It doesn't on thumbnails, for some odd reason, which is why I'd prefer that all of these be thumbs (if they aren't by the time I get to them, I'll make them so). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 10:32, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Wait, how does the way that the text content is arrange have anything to do with the image mapping? I thought the image was the only thing that mattered for the image map. Procyon (Talk) 10:38, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Well, it's not an exact science, but the labels are very evenly placed compared to one another. i.e. if one label is 100 pixels away from another in the horizontal direction, the next one should be some multiple of 100 pixels away as well. I used a Grid in GiMP to line them all up that way in the upper left corner of each room. Procyon (Talk) 10:41, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
Oh I see what you were talking about. That's funny. What Echelon had in mind was to link each of those labels to a blown up 1:1 or 3:2 view of the specific room in question. But what you did works, and it works well. It's up to you if you want to implement Echelon's idea or not. Procyon (Talk) 15:15, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
On second thought, I hate seeing all those tiny edit tabs >_< There's no way to create anchors without adding headers, is there? Just wondering :P Procyon (Talk) 17:43, 11 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm working on some css that'll hide the edit tab, just give me a bit to find it and implement it (I hope Prod doesn't mind that I modify common.css without asking the community first). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:56, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Top 5[edit]

The only reason biggianthead2000 is up there is because of the renaming of the FF4 images I did. --RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:29, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

I know. That doesn't change the fact that bgh2000 is fifth, though, it just made it happen. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:31, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Yoshi's Story[edit]

Hey, I hope you aren't angry with stupid questions, but I have no idea why the Yoshi's Story Table of Contents shows in doubles. Everything is duplicated somehow, so could you have a look at it and change it back to normal? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Some Guy Named Moe (talkcontribs) .

Adminship[edit]

Thanks so much! yeah, i would love to be an admin. I will fill out the RfA in a little bit. --IsaacGS 14:39, 20 July 2007 (CDT)

Re: Welcome to the cleanup project[edit]

I hope I can be of help! I'm still a bit lost, but I'll get the hang of it eventually :) --TheOverlord 19:20, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

Fill up edit summary?[edit]

Hello, and thanks for easing my way into StrategyWiki! However, what do you mean when you say, "always fill in the edit summary field?" I didn't know you were supposed to do that. Mouseman 11:44, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

Aye, thanks. I thought you meant "Fill the summary to the brim." I come from other wikis, so I shouldn't need much editing help. Thanks again! Mouseman 11:56, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

fire emblem[edit]

its nice to meet another fire emblem fan. i'll edit that page as soon as i can and i think i'll write all of hectors mode too. --d6172 06:43, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Hi[edit]

Oh, thanks for telling me, I really have no idea what I'm doing, I just look at a pages format, keep it like that, and add information.

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the thanks!--DukeRuckley 11:53, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Super Powers[edit]

I'm starting to use some of them, you might have noticed I deleted some duplicate images. I'm looking at the Mediawiki admin guide right now, so I think I'll be getting used to it for a while. I will log into the chat later today, if I have any questions. --IsaacGS 17:07, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

Ah, I was wondering what that did, I decided it would be better to just use the old way. I'll archive my talk page now, too. --IsaacGS 19:07, 31 July 2007 (CDT)
