RE: Shortcut template[edit]

I see your point. On WP the general rule is only the one or two most common shortcuts should ever be listed certainly not all of them. - Argash 16:33, 5 September 2007 (CDT)

CSS Pak 1[edit]

User:Cgsguy2 wanted to use your the first option in your CSS Pak, but was unable to get it to work. It looks like it is editing the page as a wiki page instead of as a skin customization. I don't know much about that, so do you think you could leave a message on his talk page on what the problem is? I'll follow his talk page as well so that I know what the problem is for future reference. Thanks a lot.--DukeRuckley 08:04, 8 September 2007 (CDT)

Deleting Images[edit]

Thanks Ryan. I figured as much because only sysops can delete normal pages, too. I can only delete the image origin, or something like that, but the image on StrategyWiki will still exist. --Myth (talk) 19:17, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Eastern Palace[edit]

Why did you remove the imagemap from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Eastern Palace? I think it's quite a useful navigational aid. --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 10:22, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Fair enough, but it would be nice if I (as head of the look-and-feel committee) was told/consulted about this. Was it while I was on holiday, or something? :-( --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 10:58, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Re: Welcome[edit]

Thanks, hopefully the tinkering I've done on other wikis will help me avoiding doing anything particularly stupid :-) MGSpiller 18:40, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Image in sig?[edit]

Sorry that I brought this topic up from awhile ago, but I just had an idea; could you possibly take an image, shrink it down, and add it into your preferences in your sig? Just wondering. --Myth (talk) 14:09, 25 September 2007 (CDT)

Sig CSS[edit]

The link was originally meant for the css for sighidden and sigexpand.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 10:27, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Well, I put it there when it was just an idea, BTW if you want annoying then look at my user page.--RockyRally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 15:04, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

Meeting minutes[edit]

Hi Ryan. OK, I'll try to take some time to write them up later this week. Thanks very much. Procyon (Talk) 15:39, 2 October 2007 (CDT)

PAGENAME of a transcluded Template[edit]

Hi Ryan. If you get a chance, could you think about this problem for me? I'm trying to find a way to accomplish the following. I have Template:Moves Header. It gets included, for example, in Street Fighter II/Ryu. I would like to add an edit button to the Moves Header template, just like there is for Template:Todo. The problem is, Street Fighter II/Ryu is transcluded in Street Fighter II/Characters/Ryu. In this case, the Moves Header template interprets {{PAGENAME}} to be Street Fighter II/Characters/Ryu rather than Street Fighter II/Ryu which is what the edit link was really added for. Can you think of a way to force the Moves Header template to consider the page from which the template is actually being referred to as the target for the edit, and not the ultimate target page of the transclusion? I know I may be talking out of my butt, but it seems like there has to be a way to do it... Thanks! Procyon (Talk) 16:05, 8 October 2007 (CDT)

Cleanup project members[edit]

As part of our ongoing cleanup project, we are transitioning to a category based membership scheme for the StrategyWiki:Cleanup project. The member listing at the bottom of the page has been removed so if you would like to rejoin the project, please add Category:Cleanup project members to your user page. -- Prod (Talk) 13:05, 12 October 2007 (CDT)

Alternative to CAPTCHAs[edit]

I'm not sure if a decision was make one way or another with regard to having a CAPTCHA during account creation, but here's an alternative that was posted on digg [1]. Worked properly, it might reduce bot attacks without hampering accessibility. Might be worth a try since it's pretty easy to implement. - Koweja 10:15, 16 October 2007 (CDT)

Autumn Leaf Banner[edit]

I finally got around to making one: Reskin Autumn Header.png. Tell me what you think. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:42, 5 November 2007 (CST)

AWESOME :) +1000 brownie points for you (plus a cookie). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:04, 5 November 2007 (CST)

Wikia[edit]

Thanks, that will save a lot of time. I have no idea how they gathered those stats, but they're consistent with what little I have gathered so far (by raw experimenting in game) so I trust it. I knew I had seen the interwikia links before but I couldn't find them. I probably would have tried "{{" for 30 minutes before trying "[[". I'm gonna play with a template based off the Maple one (since there's approximately the same number of stats) on my page for a while before using it. I guess in the mean time I'll slap a template:wip on it.--IsaacGS 20:46, 5 November 2007 (CST)

images[edit]

Got them all changed, as you asked. Don't worry about it. I was afraid I was breaking some sort of rule uploading those, but couldn't find anything about it, and so did it anyways; if you hadn't said anything I would have kept messing up.

I'm not really that new, by the way: I don't know how much attention you pay to echelon's other internet endeavors, but I've been a moderator on the now defunct DSmeet/abxy since they started. I used to go by Cosmo, but when I decided to get back into this and see if I can't do it for serious I decided to start again under a new name.

Thanks again, and sorry for ranting without reason. -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 17:19, 7 November 2007 (CST)

Integrating data from Wikia[edit]

Hey, I know you're familiar with this subject so... I want to copy info from mythos.wikia.com, however I don't know the procedures. Do I have to use Special:export/import? Or can I just simplify the process and say "info thanks to NAMES from Wikia:URL"?? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:56, 8 November 2007 (CST)

It's best to use Special:Import/Export where possible. --DrBob (talk) 02:20, 8 November 2007 (CST)
Alright, I was just being a wimp 'cuz I had never done it before. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:26, 8 November 2007 (CST)
Wait, how do I move stuff to a category? I need Flagship Seattle moved (with history) to Category:Flagship Studios. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:28, 8 November 2007 (CST)
DB answered it for me, but I really don't like how the history isn't actually merged with the cat... Hopefully they fix that in the upcoming MW patches. Woah I just had this really cool idea - what if they came up with a live update so MW got patched like, daily! If only MediaWiki's could fly... --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:40, 8 November 2007 (CST)
For the history thingy, bring it up in bugzilla. As for daily updates, that's not feasable for a lot of wikis, so it'll never be supported (or if it is supported, it'll be disabled by default), mainly due to php modifications getting lost day after day :/ (and extension compatibility issues). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:47, 8 November 2007 (CST)

Re: MMBN Title[edit]

ok, what i intend to do, to save me the trouble of copying and pasting a table every time i start a table related to the MMBN series, which would require quite a bit of editing, i would just load that instad. And yes, i suppose you're wondering about megaman battlenetwork 0. When i tried to leave those fields blank, i was unable to form a table, so i put them as fillers. then again, I'm the only one working on the Megaman Battlenetwork series at the moment, and i dont even own the games anymore, I'm doing this from memory. and having a limited knowledge in HTML Editing doesnt help either. Halosonic 19:26, 12 November 2007 (CST)

autumn leaf[edit]

I tried inserting your templates to reskin and just see how it looks, but it doesn't seem to be working, and I made sure to clear my cache. Am I just doing something wrong here? I feel like I followed all of your instructions! -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 00:18, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Wow! Mind telling me how you did that? -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 12:02, 18 November 2007 (CST)
No, no, I meant how you changed the .js file. Eventually I'm gonna create a skin, I think, so it would be good to know how to use it. -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 12:45, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Sorry, I'm not being clear enough. I know CSS and how to do all that stuff--I just want to know how to change my BlueCloud.js file, for reference, because when I tried it nothing worked and when you did it, everything worked. I'm just trying to learn more about wikis, I guess. Do you know what I am trying to ask? -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 14:06, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Oh, okay. So what would I do to return to normal BlueCloud? Because it looks like my .js file is completely empty. -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 14:39, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Nevermind. For some reason the "document.write..." wasn't showing up before, but it did just now. Thanks for bearing with me through all this nonsense. -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 14:45, 18 November 2007 (CST)

Admin nomination[edit]

hey skizzerz, i was wondering if you could help me with the nomination for sysop for me. i need it mainly for editing some pages where areas are locked off such as table of contents (megaman batlle network series). the page with the info seems confusing, so im wondering if you could help me with the process. Halosonic 22:48, 30 November 2007 (CST)

Pokemon guides[edit]

Hi Ryan. First of all, thank you for nominating that guide. I will definitely respond on the page some time tomorrow. My initial thoughts are that it needs more in-game screenshots, but that might be a lofty goal, and somewhat superfluous to the guide's purpose. And since the guides are featured, not the games, Pokemon Yellow would essentially remain unchanged, at num=4 condition, but it would share info with a featured guide. I don't think that's such a bad thing, and perhaps others would have a better suggestion if we brought it up in CI. I'll think about it, and respond tomorrow. Procyon (Talk) 22:14, 4 December 2007 (CST)

delete this please[edit]

in case someone misses it.

Also what happened to the puzzles! -- towers http://media.strategywiki.org/images/a/a8/Towers_trex.gif 21:41, 7 December 2007 (CST)

Re: Zelda OOT Images[edit]

Don't worry about me putting any type of marking on a page because I only put marks like that on my 'actual work.' Also, I've put the website name on the image description page but I seem to be having issues linking it. --|Superpowered Mario (Talk|contribs)

Thank you for telling me that. I'll put the http:// in the link.

Creating new pages[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. Given that I've already created a couple of pages for the Aquaria guide, how should I go about getting the information the new page template thing uses into those pages? Fieari 00:19, 13 December 2007 (CST)

WatchSubpages[edit]

Thanks for the pointer. I'll post there as soon as it goes live here. -- Prod (Talk) 01:26, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Next meeting[edit]

Hi buddy. I think we decided due to the holiday season, we were going to postpone the meeting until the first Saturday after the new year, which would be January 6th. I'll get a note up about it in CI shortly. Procyon (Talk) 13:37, 26 December 2007 (CST)
