Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Soeb! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. Please remember to sign your name on, and only on, talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- najzereT 21:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey, just a few notes on the images you've reuploaded. It's not necessary to change the text on the file, as your contribution is noted in the page's history and the thumbnail preview of all revisions. Second, as you can see in the revision history, we still have to keep all versions of an image, so going from 10KB to 4KB actually uses up 4 more KB of storage space on the servers, and both sizes are negligible as far as page load speeds. If the image is being visibly changed or a new one is being used, then I'd say it's worth it, but I honestly couldn't detect a difference between the new images and the old ones, except for their sizes. - najzereT 21:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome, the re-uploading to decrease the size is just an old habit. I'll try to not repeat that. Soeb 11:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia images]]. The image policy is viewable here, and contains all the information you'll need to categorise future uploads. --najzereT 21:56, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for helping with those images. Where did you find ones without numbers? Photoshopping some of those numbers out was extremely difficult, so anything to bypass that work is a blessing. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 03:52, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about the images, my first day here - I'll try not to repeat that mistake any more.
Also, I did not found these images (I tried looking in the lod files, but after 30 minutes of looking found no creatures - although some other things were found) :). I simply used GIMP to cut these images out of a screenshot and then 'healed' them of numbers (and also used optipng to optimize and decrease the size of the file) - I'd say not that hard (and time-stealing), and also there are not so much images that it'll even take long to get all of them. I'll try to continue with my work on the HoMM3 book and also hope that I'll stay here for some more time. Soeb 11:25, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Hidden table[edit]

Hey, just wondering why the table on the Creatures page is commented out? If it's because it's not done yet or you don't have the images, don't let that stop you from displaying it. Everything on the wiki is a work in progress, after all. If you don't like the image redlinks, you can take them out and add them back later, although apparently most of the admin are okay with temporary image redlinks. Great job on the guide, by the way! - najzereT 17:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I commented it out because it's not finished - I've got no data on the last column (Special Abilities - I've got no English version of the game). If not that I would uncomment it right away. Soeb 18:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
The problem is that readers won't be able to see all the other information you do have, and if anyone else can fill in that column for you, they won't know the information is missing. The wiki is collaborative, so you're not expected to fill in every piece of information by yourself, and there is no stigma attached to just putting the information you know, even if it's not complete. - najzereT 18:13, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
I know that (I'm not new to wikis), anyway, it's done and visible now. Soeb 18:27, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

If you ever come back[edit]

I'd like to aid you in your HoM&MIII contributions. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:52, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

I might come back in the next few days, as I happen to have some free time. I'll probably attempt to finish stuff like creatures now. Soeb 19:01, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
