  • Stage: The Big Board
  • Location: Topaz Passage, Stage 2
  • Time: (Normal/Hard/Super Hard) 3:00/2:30/2:00

In the second stage of Topaz Passage, Wario must proceed through both the main stage and the extra Board Game.

Stage Specific Gimmicks[edit]

Wario below a Spinner, with a guide plate showing that a Wario Reaction is preferred here.
  • The Board and Spinners: As an important part of this stage, Wario must reach the Goal of the Board Game in order to obtain the Key Ghost. There will be Spinners in various places, and when Wario makes a headbutt on the Spinners from below, the number shown from one to six will cause Wario to move forward on the Board by the same steps. For whatever square Wario steps on, one effect will be activated, indicated by the icon. At each Spinner set, a cardboard will indicate the preferred effect. Other than the final Spinner, all others are of single use.
  1. Switch: This will change the state of the red trigger blocks in this stage.
  2. Wario: One specific Wario Reaction will be applied. The content is determined for each room.
  3. Heart: Wario gets healed by one point.
  4. Lightning: Wario takes damage.
  5. Soldier: Three Die Bots will appear. While they drop nothing, they can be used for tossing.
  6. Diamond: A Big Diamond will pop out.
  7. Goal: Reaching this will open the path to the Key Ghost. Extra steps will cause Wario to move backwards on the Board.

Normal Version[edit]

  • Room 1: Welcome to the game. On the other side of small pond is a Mini-Wario above some blocks. Check the blocks carefully because they may contain Bronze Coins.
  • Room 2: Another Mini-Wario and some Gems. You will find the first Spinner and some deactivated red blocks. For this Spinner, while getting any number will always result in Switch, it is suggested to get six. By enabling the trigger blocks, proceed to the right.
  • Room 3: You can find the first Stone Chest, and three Mini-Warios above the trigger blocks. Right above the chest is an odd platform, which actually leads to the upper portion of the room, with extra 160 Gems and two Hearts. These goodies will be lost after Frog Switch is pressed, so take them early.
  • Room 4: Two Mini-Warios and 50 Gems are above the trigger blocks. However, the main object here is to get the Wario Reaction, which is Fire Wario in this room. Use this ability to jump up the left platforms in order to reach a Big Diamond. On the right is a drain to lower floor. Breaking the left wall leads to a passage with another two Mini-Warios, the second Stone Chest, and some hidden Gems which can only be obtained after pressing the Frog Switch, so come back later. Breaking the right wall leads to a secret portion of Room 5, and a pipe to Bonus Room 6. Walk over the ground level will proceed to main portion of Room 5.
  • Room 5: Effect is Fat Wario which only wastes time. 150 Gems are above the Spinners, and the third Stong Chest is nearby. For this room, get the Die Bots, stun one of them and use to break a hole on the right wall, revealing a Big Diamond inside. Some blocks will be at the upper portion of the room. It is suggested to keep the upper row of blocks exist, and reach the upper passage for some Gems and a Pink Spiny.
  • Bonus Room 6: The green bird-like creature will release glass balls. Catch the balls and break the platforms beneath the Mini-Warios. When they reach the spiked ground, wait until they are at right location, and Goomba-Jump over them to reach the Heart Chest on the left.
  • Room 7: Four Mini-Warios in the room, two of which are trapped in trigger blocks. The fourth Stone Chest is placed in the center of the room.
  • Room 8: Obviously, the effect is Fat Wario. Use the Spinner to get the reaction and break the hard block on the left, crush the Black Spinies, and break the hard block on the floor. Besides of the coins from Black Spinies, there is one more Pink Spiny and a Big Diamond in the room below. Back to the surface, there is a Mini-Wario, and a Heart trapped in trigger blocks.
  • Room 9: Move to lower floor with two Spinners, get the Flat Wario effect, fly into the small gap on the right wall, in order to reach the lower right portion with the CD Chest. Use water ponds to remove the effect whenever needed. Take out the Pink Spiny on the right, climb the platforms to the upper right portion, with another Spinner. If the trigger blocks are enabled, disable them here in order to get some extra Gems. Outside Door A is a Pink Spiny, but instead of killing it, use it for a Goomba Jump to get the 300 Gems above.
  • Room A: Beware of the Mini-Wario on the left. There are three columns of blocks above, use the Spinners to get Spring Wario and charge through the middle column, to break a hard block above, in order to unlock the right portion with 130 Gems, a Mini-Wario and a Big Diamond. You can choose to use the extra Spinner to claim the treasure first, but it is better to come back later after pressing the Frog Switch. Before entering Door B above, it is suggested to return to previous rooms and use up all Spinners to proceed as far as possible on the Board.
  • Room B: Use the slope to roll in the narrow passage on the right, crushing a Mini-Wario, and jump off the ledge to avoid pressing the Frog Switch too soon. Press it when everything is ready. Hurry up! Now use the new blocks to reach Door C above.
  • Room C: This is the final room with a Spinner which can be used many times. You will use most of the timer in order to get a Goal on the Board. Do not get Wario Reaction here, as it will waste time by inflicting Fire Wario. Use the pond on the left to shake off the effect if get caught. For most points available, get the trigger blocks enabled, get Die Bots once to Goomba Jump to grab the Gems above, get the Big Diamond in the Board, and finally stop exactly on the Goal to release the path below. Now stomp through the floor, grab the Key Ghost and return to Room A below.
  • Room A (revisited): If you have unlocked the treasure on the right, go and get them. 320 Gems are available above Door A now.
  • Room 9 (revisited): If you have enabled the trigger blocks, you can access Bonus Room 10 above. When it is done, escape to the left.
  • Bonus Room 10: Shake the Old Man off the ledge, then throw him to break the blocks with Bronze Coins, and hit the switch in order to get the Big Diamond on the right.
  • Room 8 to 1 (revisited): Now run all the way to the warphole, but do not forget the once hidden Gems on the way back.

High Score: 19040 (On the Board, get all Diamonds and dodge every Lightning)
