Stage[edit]

Please note: This round is an exclusive addition to the Sega Master System version. It is not found in any other version.

Part A[edit]

WBML Stage8 a.png
  1. In the first part of this exclusive stage, you will find yourself in a hallway with Red Spirits and Mudmen. The first Mudman you encounter is unique in that he actually slides close enough to the edge of the step, that you can actually attack him and hurt him before he rises up to spit mud at you.
  2. In the middle of the hallway, there is a pit that leads down. If you choose to fall down and explore this pit, you will be taken to part B, and then on to part D, bypassing part C completely. If you wish to visit the ghost town, do not drop down this pit.
  3. Before you can escape through the right exit of the hallway, you will encounter another Mudman, and a Blue Rat. When you reach the end, you will find yourself outside in part C.

Part B[edit]

  1. Of the two means to reach part D, this pathway is slightly less interesting. It is occupied by Blue Goblins and one short Red Knight. The opportunity to earn money is higher along this pathway, but you will miss a few points of interest found in part C. Carefully pass the goblins and the knight to reach one final Blue Goblin waiting for you on a not-often-seen conveyor belt. Defeat him and pass through the exit to reach part D.

Part C[edit]

WBML Stage8 c.png
Legend
A Bar
! Secret
  1. In this section, you will pass through what appears to be a deserted town. There are some Red and Blue spirits floating around. All of the doors look busted, and a majority of the buildings are uninhabited. However, there are sections of the town that are worth investigating.
  2. If you examine the door above the first ladder, you will find that there is actually a Bar in town. Purchase drinks if you are low on health, or just want to get information.
  3. WBML enemy wizard.png
All the other doors will yield no information. However, if you think back to the secret door in Baraboro town, there is a window at the end of a ledge that you should investigate. If you do, you will find yourself in a boss battle situation against an unusual wizard.
    • Like the Sphinx, the Wizard has the ability to cast spells and fire them at you. He's not nearly as aggressive as the Sphinx, and he doesn't teleport across the room so much as fly across it. You can easily predict where and when he is going to land, and you can even jump and hit him in mid-air. He doesn't take a lot of hits to defeat. If you tough it out against this powerful wizard, you are given an interesting reward: 9 Lightning Bolt spells. Naturally, these will come in handy in the more difficult stages to come.
  4. Continue to proceed to the right, and you will encounter one spitting plant before the mouth of a cave. Deal with the plant if you choose to, and then enter the cave to access Part D.

Part D[edit]

WBML Stage8 d.png
Legend
! Boss
B Shop
  1. Whether you came from part B or part C, you will arrive at the entrance of the cave with no means of returning. All you can do is proceed to the right. You will first encounter a Poverty, followed quickly by a bat. Deal with the bat since it can be defeated quickly, while you continue to push the Poverty out of the way with your sword.
  2. You'll encounter another Poverty as you begin to jump over a series of platforms. It is important not to fall into the lava below, so try to get on the other side of the Poverty and continue your exploration.
  3. If you proceed all the way past the platforms, over the next lava pit and on to door B, you might be expecting to find a boss, but all you'll find there is a shop. With a locked gate to the right, you must find the key.
  4. The trick to finding the key is to explore the region behind one of the platforms over the lava (labeled "!" on the map). If you push up in this area, you will find a hidden door. Behind it, you will find a brand new boss who is guarding the key.

Boss[edit]

WBML enemy medusa.png

Unique to this version of the game and in this stage only, you must face off with Medusa. Fortunately, she cannot turn you into stone simply by looking at her. Instead, her only means of attack is to jump around the room depositing snakes on the floor which slowly slither in your direction. As unique as her look may be, she has actually copied the attack right out of the Mushroom King's play book. The same way you dealt with the Mushroom King is the same way you must deal with Medusa; situate yourself in positions where Medusa is likely to land right in front of you so that you can stab her as she lands. Be sure to attack the snakes every now and then to clear out the floor so that you don't get bounced around as a result of one of them colliding with you. Once you reduce Medusa's hit points to zero, she will explode and release the key along with eight money bags.

Collect the money bags and then grab the key, and head all the way to the right, beyond the shop behind door B, to reach the end of the stage.

Hidden items[edit]

  • In Part C jump in to the air from the left side of the ledge which contains the secret door to the Wizard, to make a money bag appear.
