This landscape may look big from your point of view, but once you get the hang of it, you won't get lost in this. The first thing that Shulk and Ryen see is a buggy.

Meeting Sharla and Juju[edit]

When you get to the buggy, you see a vision of triceratops attacking the kid. Anyway, you have to go to where the water is on this place which is not far. So take care of the creatures then once the cutscene is done you'll go to the Refugee Camp which is opposite to what is Rho Oasis. On the map that's basically south from that location where the heart-to-heart is.

It would be good to listen to Sharla's story to trigger Juju's disappearing and also a vision of Juju and Sharla getting clamped by the mechanical octopus. Sort of. As this is the norm, Sharla will now support you because of her great healing skills via rifle.

At this moment, here's a bried explanation of the tree link: In simple terms, what a person has, another don't so it's good to build up the tree link through party affinity. Not only in getting APs from battle, party affinity pre-determines the number of icons you can use. For example, you could enable heavier armour or enhance the experience further than what is normally set. The max tree link is obvious when your team has max hearts for each other.

When your not linking the tree, your tree starts in the default of three. Certain sidequests requires a particular character for the job. Perhaps the easiest example is Shulk after the Soldier's sidequests to hear Desiree's story and choosing a job for her. Another is Riki attacking the ultimate monster to get another branch from the sage. Pay attention that sidequests is not always aimed at the same person. Do not restrict yourself too much with the same people for too long.

Last reason for it is when you go through many sidequests, you want to switch people every now and then, once you max out the hearts for each other. The best time to do it is when the tree link icons are maxed out. For example, Shulk is first, Reyn is second and Sharla is third. Later on Shulk first, Dunban second, Sharla third etc etc. It will pay off for the chain attack as it will help increase the length a chain attack would last.

Don't forget to switch branch once it maxes out or you'll miss on cool links that would work as a team advantage.

Talking about Sharla, she uses a rifle. But she's a medic and if you're using her, you would make use of her arts like metal blast and thunder bullet. Once the art in the middle fills up, she stops to cool down before allowing you to use the arts again. Don't be afraid to heal your teammates, as she is valuable and makes up for the absence of Fiora and perhaps as a third part of the group.

Battling the mechonis with legs[edit]

If your having trouble here's the directions: Go right outside the Refugee Camp and if you're into upgrading your experience, take down the Mechons which might help you lead the path to where Juju is. You'll reach the Raguel Bridge and take the right side along the Maguel Road. Once you reach the other end, you should see a spiral shaped valley which is called Spiral Valley on the left of where you are.

Once you reach the Spiral Valley a cutscene ensues. You now have the speed ability meaning any character can dodge attacks for a brief time. After the first battle, go up to continue battling. But make sure you finish up your sidequests or you might have no chance of defeating it.

If you think it's over, there's one bit of business left. Xord comes down for a brief fight. Sadly after the battle, Juju is taken to Colony 6.

After the cutscene, your team should head off to Colony 6. So from Spiral Valley in which Juju was last taken, go south to where there is a bridge for you to get across. In Colony 6 after another cutscene go north to take on sidequests and maybe go back clear up remaining ones before going down the elevator and going through the Splintered path via drainage area. Get ready for some Mechon mashing!
