StreetPass is a feature present in every Nintendo 3DS system that allows users to exchange data from games and applications that both users own. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, this feature means players can share their homes with others, as well as collect homes for display in the Happy Home Showcase. It also creates the opportunity to have villagers move between towns that have been in contact via StreetPass.

Activating StreetPass

StreetPass must be activated on the console in order for it to receive and transmit the required data. This done by following these steps:

  1. Switching on the wireless features.
  2. Go to the Happy Home Showcase and talk to Digby. He will register the game with StreetPass.
  3. Have the 3DS in stand-by mode or switched on when outside in busy areas.

Not everyone will have New Leaf or use the StreetPass feature. A green notification will display on the game slot when data has been received.
