As the Mayor, the player has the ability to enact various Town Ordinances. These Ordinances have different effects on how the town operates and are very useful for modifying the town to match your playing style. Each Ordinance costs 20,000 Bells and can be selected in the Town Hall. There can only be one Ordinance in effect at a time - an active Ordinance can be cancelled for free.

Beautiful Town[edit]

The Beautiful Town Ordinance favours players that are unable to visit and tend to their towns everyday. The benefits of this ordinance are:

  • Time travelling does not affect the environment.
  • Villagers will water and plant flowers.
  • Weeds will not appear everyday.
  • Hybrids are 20% more likely to spawn.
  • You will no longer catch trash when fishing.
  • Cockroaches will no long appear.

Early Bird Town[edit]

The Early Bird Town Ordinance favours players that are more likely to play earlier in the day and are too busy to visit in the evenings. The benefits of this ordinance are:

  • Shops will open earlier in the day (although the still hours vary)
  • Villagers will wake up earlier (again, the times will vary for each villager)

Night Owl Town[edit]

The Night Owl Town Ordinance favours players that are more likely to play later in the day and are too busy to visit in the morning. The benefits of this ordinance are:

  • Shops will open later in the day (although the still hours vary)
  • Villagers will wake up later (again, the times will vary for each villager)

Wealthy Town[edit]

The Wealthy Town Ordinance changes how many Bells are exchanged when you buy or sell items. This is good if you are trying to pay off loans or raise funds for Public Works Projects, as their costs are not increased with the ordinance in effect.

  • Shops buy and sell items for 20% more
  • The medals obtained on the Island increase
