Atom Ant title screen (ZX Spectrum).png

You'll first have to connect your Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, or Commodore 64 and cassette recorder to your television, then switch all three of them on; you will then have to place the cassette of Hi-Tec Software's Twilight-developed 1990 platform game Atom Ant into the cassette recorder, type LOAD "" (without leaving a space between those quotation marks) and press Enter to load the program into the console. In the ZX and CPC versions, you will then have to press either 1 for keyboard control, 2 for Kempston joystick control (if connected), or 3 for Interface II joystick control (again, if connected) - but in the C64 version, you'll just have to press the button on the joystick to start the game because it does not support keyboard control. In the CPC version, you can also type CLOWN on the start screen to make Atom Ant invulnerable (but he will still be game-overed if the timer runs out).

Stage 1

AA Stage 1.png

This stage contains eight bombs, one bouillon cube (500 points), one helmet (an extra life), four bees (who will try to drop their stingers upon Atom Ant), two helicopters, and one jet plane, and has a time of 4:00; Atom Ant can only pick up one bomb at a time, and will have to take it up to his "Atomizer" at the top of the building, before he can pick up another one. This gives the game a slow pace (as opposed to certain other Hanna-Barbera-themed titles).

Stage 2

AA Stage 2.png

This stage contains eight bombs, one helmet, two bees, two jet planes, and two helicopters (the jets and helicopters now also drop missiles), and has a time of 4:00; in fact, all seven stages contain eight bombs, and have a time of 4:00, and only vary with the enemies they have and their outward design.

Stage 3

AA Stage 3.png

This stage contains eight bombs, three bees, two helicopters, two jet planes, and a clock (adds an extra minute onto the timer), and has a time of 4:00.

Stage 4

AA Stage 4.png

This stage contains eight bombs, one bouillon cube (500 pts), one bee, three helicopters, three jet planes, and one spaceship, and has a time of 4:00.

Stage 5

AA Stage 5.png

This stage contains eight bombs, one helmet, and an infinite amount of missiles, safes and 16-ton weights falling from the sky, and has a time of 4:00.

Stage 6

AA Stage 6.png

This stage contains eight bombs, two helicopters, one jet plane, one spaceship, and an infinite amount of missiles, safes and 16-ton weights which fall from the sky and has a time of 4:00; there is only one more stage left to go now (which, like this one, is set upon a castle as opposed to a skyscraper).

Stage 7

AA Stage 7.png

This stage contains eight bombs, one bouillon cube (500 pts), three bees, two helicopters, and two spaceships, and has a time of 4:00; once you have taken the last bomb up to the "Atomizer" at the top of the castle, the ending text of "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE CLEARED THE CITY OF ALL THE BOMBS. THANK YOU ATOM ANT. SEE YOU NEXT TIME...." will be displayed on the screen. The game will then return back to the start screen.
