Controls

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to direct your spaceman through each floor. If you stop holding up, he'll float back down to the ground if in mid-air.
  • Firing Button: Use this button to make your spaceman fire his ray gun at the enemies. Every time he fires a shot at them, he will experience recoil.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.

Characters

Kissy and Takky

File:BD Kissy.gif The protagonists of the game, who are identical in appearance to each other. The fact that they are differently named means it can be speculated that this was to be the first game from Namco to allow two players to play simultaneously - but that honour would later go to Sky Kid, at the end of 1985. The first player controls "Kissy", while the second player (if there is one) controls "Takky"; they are both on a mission to save the Paccet Planet from the evil Octy King, and must use their ray guns to destroy all his Octy minions and any other enemies that are populating the planet's forty-eight floors. They start the game with two shields, and will have the chance to earn up to six more, by saving the one-eyed Paccets (that can be found inside the capsules that the Octy leave behind when killed) for the end-of-floor bonus games - however, it is also possible to lose shields in the end-of-floor bonus games as well (also, if they lose a life, they will also be resurrected with one less shield, unless they had two). When one player clears a floor, the other takes over.

Blanula and Skifla

File:BD Blanula.gif
File:BD Skifla.gif

These octopus-like creatures are spawned by the Octy to prevent Kissy and Takky from attacking them; the Blanula (brown, shown to left) can only touch Kissy or Takky to injure them, but the Skifla (red, shown to right) can also spit projectiles at them as well. 10 points.

Polycators

File:BD Polycator.gif These jellyfish-like creatures appear on the ceilings of some of the floors, and drop down on Kissy and Takky when they approach them. 50 points.

Leap Baganns

File:BD Leap Bagann.gif These one-eyed purple creatures can be likened to a smaller versions of the Baganns, and attack Kissy and Takky by leaping on them. 50 points.

Telepo

File:BD Telepo.gif These can only be killed while they're materializing; after they've materialized, they'll become projectiles and home in on Kissy and Takky. 50 points.

Efila

File:BD Efila.gif These upside-down purple creatures hang from the ceilings of some floors, and fire projectiles at Kissy and Takky when they approach. 50 points.

Blue Sparks

File:BD Blue Spark.gif If Kissy and Takky take too long over clearing any floor, one of these will come up from the bottom of the screen, and start flying randomly around in the four cardinal directions. They take two hits to kill (the first one turns them red, so their name will no longer be accurate), but are not worth any points.

Snipers

File:BD Sniper 1.gif File:BD Sniper 2.gif File:BD Sniper 3.gif These blue aliens resemble Kissy and Takky and will not injure them if they touch them; the only way they can ever injure them is if they shoot them. When Kissy or Takky's guns are at level 1, they take two hits, but they only take one hit if their guns are at level 2, 3 or 4. 50 points.

Molamola

File:BD Molamola.gif These pufferfish-like creatures usually attack Kissy and Takky by flying towards them from behind, but sometimes from the front as well. 50 points.

Vacance Pores

File:BD Vacance Pore.gif These purple projectile-like balls attack Kissy and Takky by coming down on top of them from either the north-west or north-east directions. 50 points.

Muscle Brains

File:BD Muscle Brain.gif These pulsating red human thought-organs follow Kissy or Takky around any floor if they see them, and take a total of sixteen hits to kill. 50 points.

Squids

File:BD Squid.gif These squid-like creatures (they not real squids) attack by firing projectiles at Kissy and Takky and retreating once they have seen them. 50 points.

Kyoters

File:BD Kyoter.gif These purple barbell-like creatures attack Kissy and Takky by homing in on them while revolving clockwise and firing projectiles at them. 50 points.

Quelqaria

File:BD Quelqaria.gif These man-of-war-like creatures attack in a manner similar to that of those Molamola, but can only be killed if they are shot from behind. 50 points.

Yamamo

File:BD Yamamo.gif These face-like creatures move like Snipers, but will not fire at Kissy and Takky; the only way they can injure them is if they touch them. 50 points.

Octy

There are six different types of Octy; all six will change colour from blue to purple to red when hit, and are all worth 100 points. They all attack uniquely.

File:BD Gilly Octy.gif

Gilly Octy - This two-eyed type of Octy, which will attack by pulsating in place while spawning Blanula and Skifla, is their weakest type of Octy.

File:BD Winky Octy.gif

Winky Octy - This one-eyed type of Octy will face either to left or right, and attack by winking while firing projectiles directly at Kissy and Takky.

File:BD Tuning Octy.gif

Tuning Octy - This one-eyed type of Octy faces out of the monitor, and attacks by while firing projectiles at Kissy and Takky in three directions.

File:BD Finny Octy.gif

Finny Octy - This two-eyed type of Octy, which will attack by glittering in place while spawning Blanula and Skifla, is another weak type of Octy.

File:BD Shell Octy.gif

Shell Octy - This one-eyed type of Octy will face either left or right while firing projectiles at Kissy and Takky, and can't be attacked from behind.

File:BD Dropping Octy.gif

Dropping Octy - This two-eyed type of Octy will attack by moving up and down in place, and cannot be attacked if they're in crouching position.

Paccets

File:BD Paccet.gif

These one-eyed yellow aliens can sometimes be found in the capsules that the Octy leave behind when killed. However, if you accidentally shoot one when it appears, you will lose any other Paccets you have saved before it (much like when you earn an extra shield in one of the end-of-floor bonus games). During the 8 boss floors, they will also appear above your spaceman's head, and throw themselves at the boss to stun him. 100 points.

Jewels

File:BD Jewel.gif

These yellow gemstones can also sometimes be found in the capsules that the Octy leave behind when killed, and are there for 100 extra points.

Ray Guns

File:BD Ray Gun.gif

These weapons of destruction, like the Paccets and Jewels, can also sometimes be found in the capsules that the Octy leave behind when killed; when Kissy and Takky collect them, they will increase their gun level by one (however, if they hit, their gun level will decrease by one). 100 points.

Baganns

File:BD Bagann.gif

These purple Pac-Man-like aliens, like the Paccets, Jewels and Ray Guns, can also be sometimes be found in the capsules that the Octy leave behind when killed, and attack by chasing after Kissy and Takky - so they are like Namco's mascot after he has eaten a power pellet. 50 points.

Bonus Characters

There are eight bonus characters, and you will have to kill a certain type of enemy on a certain floor to make one appear. They are all worth 1000 points.

File:BD Baby Molamola.gif

Baby Molamola - To make this small yellow pufferfish-like alien appear by dropping down on the fourth floor, you will have to kill a Leap Bagann.

File:BD Baby Bagann.gif

Baby Bagann - In order to make this smaller, red Pac-Man-like alien appear by dropping down on the seventh floor, you will have to kill a Telepo.

File:BD Baby Leap Bagann.gif

Baby Leap Bagann - In order to make this small blue one-eyed alien appear by dropping down on the sixteenth floor, you will have to kill a Sniper.

File:BD Baby Paccet.gif

Baby Paccet - In order to make this small and yellow one-eyed alien appear by dropping down on the twentieth floor, you will have to kill a Kyoter.

File:BD Apple.gif

Apple - In order to make this red fruit (Pac-Man's fourth bonus) appear by dropping down on the twenty-fifth floor, you will have to kill a Polycator.

File:BD Bananas.gif

Baby Bananas - In order to make this bunch in of three yellow fruits (Super Pac-Man's second stage item) appear by dropping down on thirty-third floor, you will have to kill a Quelqaria.

File:BD Eggplant.gif

Eggplant - In order to make this purplish vegetable (Dig Dug's fifth bonus) appear down on the forty-first floor, you will have to kill a Vacance Pore.

File:BD Lemon.gif

Lemon - In order to make this singular yellow fruit (from Pac & Pal) appear by dropping down on the forty-fourth floor, you will have to kill a Sniper.

Bosses

File:BD Blue Worm.gif

Blue Worm - These enormous, 4-eyed blue worms are the bosses of the sixth, eighteenth, thirtieth and forty-second floors (which means they are the bosses of the odd-numbered worlds). They attack by advancing on Kissy and Takky while firing projectiles at them from their four enormous eyes; each of them takes eight hits to destroy, and so they take a total of thirty-two hits to kill in all. Once they are close enough to that wall at the left side of the floor, they will stop moving - which means that it is impossible for them to crush your spaceman to death. Once you have destroyed all four of their eyes, they will emit a scream of death and explode as the pipe to the next floor opens at the bottom of the screen; and if you have any Paccets during the battle, they will appear above your spaceman's head, and throw themselves at the Blue Worm to stun him, but if you kill him as one appears above your spaceman's head, you will still leave him behind as you enter the pipe. 1000 points.

File:BD Turning Eye.gif

Turning Eye - These enormous one-eyed blue aliens are the bosses of the twelfth, twenty-fourth and thirty-sixth floors (which means that they are the bosses of the even-numbered worlds). They attack by flying left and right across the floor, while firing projectiles and corkscrew beams at Kissy and Takky from their singular bloodshot eyes, which are their only vulnerable points and will change colour from turquoise to orange to pink when hit. Once you have fired enough shots at their eye to kill them, they will emit a scream of death and explode; again, if you have any Paccets during the battle, they will throw themselves at the Turning Eye to stun him. 1000 points.

File:BD Octy King.gif

Octy King - This enormous, one-eyed porcupine-like alien is the boss of the forty-eighth floor (which means that he is the final boss of the game). He attacks by spitting projectiles at Kissy and Takky from his mouth in three directions, but he will stop once you have shot his eye enough times; your spaceman must then go inside him through his aforementioned mouth, then fire at his aforementioned eye from the inside to kill him. Once you have fired enough shots at his aforementioned eye from the inside to kill him (you should watch it change colour - from blue to turquoise to orange to pink as you're hitting it), he will emit a scream of death and explode. 10000 points.
