Floor 1

Welcome to the game. Kissy will enter the screen by coming out of the pipe up at the top-left of the floor, and automatically opening the capsule below it; it contains a Paccet, and the game will begin properly after he has said "I'm your friend" in a poorly-generated synthesized voice (this was the only game from Namco to use one of their programmable sound generators for speech), and Kissy has picked him up. When that heart-beating noise starts playing in the background, the Gilly Octy and the Winky Octy in front of you will begin to fire projectiles at you while spawning Blanula and Skifla - and given that they will never stop spawning them until they are killed, they can be killed for 10 extra points each, but you should be mindful of the fact that Blue Sparks will eventually appear if you take too long over clearing any floor. Once you have decided to open fire on those two Octy themselves, you will notice that they change colour from blue to purple to red as you hit them, before exploding and leaving a capsule behind; the capsules that these two Octy have left behind will either contain other Paccets, Jewels or Ray Guns, so once you have collected them go down the pipe at the bottom-right of the floor in order to proceed to the next floor. You'll then receive 100 points for every shield you have remaining (the maximum for this introductory floor is obviously 200).

Once the end-of-floor bonus game has been invoked (and given that you will always have at least one Paccet after clearing this introductory floor, it will be), press the Firing Button to slow down and stop the red square that is moving around that virtual octagon on the left side of the screen in a clockwise direction; there is a maximum of a 3/8 chance of it landing on a Paccet, and a maximum of a 7/8 chance of it landing on an "N". Then, it is on to Floor 2.

Floor 2

Once Kissy (or Takky if it is a two-player game) has come out of the pipe at the top-left of the floor, the Gilly Octy at the bottom of the screen will begin to fire projectiles at him while spawning Blanula and Skifla; once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla he has spawned to kill them and enough shots at the Gilly Octy himself to kill him, he will leave a capsule behind. Again, this capsule will either contain another Paccet, or a Jewel or a Ray Gun - so once you have collected it, continue walking to the right until you come to an Efila on the ceiling who's spitting projectiles at you. Once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, continue flying to right until you come to another Gilly Octy and a Winky Octy who are firing projectiles at you while spawning Blanula and Skifla; once you have flown up to their level, fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla they have spawned to kill them and enough shots at both of the Octy themselves to kill them, they will leave two more capsules behind. Once again, these capsules will either contain: other Paccets, Jewels or Ray Guns, so once you have collected them, you will come to another Efila on the ceiling who is spitting projectiles at you - and once you have fired a shot at him to kill him, go down the pipe down the bottom-right of the floor in order to proceed to the next floor. You will then receive 100 points for every shield you have remaining (the maximum for this second floor is 300, and you will also have to watch out for the Squids during the floor).

Once the end-of-floor bonus game has been invoked (but if you do not have any Paccets after clearing this floor and every other non-boss floor, it won't be), press the Firing Button to slow down and stop the red square that is moving around that virtual octagon on the left side of the screen in a clockwise direction; there is a maximum of a 6/8 chance of it landing on a Paccet, a maximum of a 7/8 (or a 6/8, if you have three shields), chance of it landing on an "N", and (if you have three shields) a maximum of a 1/8 chance of it landing on an Octy. Then, it is on to Floor 3 - which could introduce the Baganns.

Floor 3

Once Kissy has come out of the pipe at the topleft of the floor, the Gilly Octy on the platform connected to the ground and left wall at the start of this floor will begin to fire projectiles at him while spawning Blanula and Skifla; once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla he has spawned to kill them and enough shots at the Gilly Octy himself to kill him, he will leave a capsule behind. This capsule, like the five before it, could contain another Paccet, a Jewel or a Ray Gun - but on the other hand, it could contain a Bagann, so you may not wish to stand directly in front of a capsule after opening it in case one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. But regardless of what the capsule contained, you will then come to an Efila upon the ceiling who is spitting projectiles at you - so once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, continue flying to the right, until you come to a Winky Octy who is firing projectiles at you while spawning Blanula and Skifla. Once you have fired shot at all the Blanula and Skifla he has spawned to kill them and enough shots at the Winky Octy himself to kill him, he will leave asecond capsule behind; again, this capsule could contain another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun or a Bagann, so you may not wish to stand directly in front of the capsule after opening it in case another one of the last ones comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. You'll then come to two more Efila on the ceiling, who are spitting projectiles at you; once you have fired off shot at both of them to kill them, you'll come to another Gilly Octy, and another Winky Octy, who are firing projectiles at you while spawning Blanula and Skifla. Once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla they have spawned to kill them, and enough shots at both of the Octy themselves to kill them, they will leave two more capsules behind - and once again, these capsules could contain another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun, or a Bagann, so you may not wish to stand directly in front of the capsule after opening it, in case a third or fourth instance of the last ones comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. But regardless of what these capsules contained, you'll now have to go down the pipe at the bottom-right of the floor in order to proceed to the next floor; you will then receive 100 bonus points for every shield you have (the maximum for this third floor is 400 - and you also have to watch out for Polycators).

If the end-of-floor bonus game has been invoked, press the Firing Button to slow down and stop the red square that is moving around the virtual octagon on the left side of the screen, in a clockwise direction; there is a maximum of a 8/8 chance of it landing on a Paccet (that only guaranteed way to receive an extra shield), a maximum of a 7/8 (or a 6/8 if you have three shields, or a 5/8 if you have four shields) chance of it landing on an "N", and (if you have three shields) a maximum of a 1/8 (or 2/8 if you have four shields) chance of it landing on an Octy. Then, it's on to Floor 4 - which has a bonus character.

Floor 4

Once Kissy (or Takky if it is a two-player game) has come out of the pipe at the top-left of the floor, the Gilly Octy upon the platform connected to the left wall will start firing projectiles at him while spawning Blanula and Skifla; once you have fired off shot at all the Blanula and Skifla to kill them and enough shots at the Gilly Octy himself to kill him, he will leave a capsule behind. For the rest of the game, they will either contain another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun, or a Bagann - so you may not wish to stand directly in front of capsule after opening it in case one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. But regardless of what this capsule contained, you will come to an Efila upon the ceiling, who is spitting projectiles at you; once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, continue floating to the right down on to the next platform (which is connected to the right wall), as you come to a Tuning Octy who is firing projectiles at you in three directions while spawning Blanula and Skifla. Once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla he has spawned to kill them and enough shots at the Tuning Octy himself to kill him, he will leave a capsule behind - and again, for the rest of the game, they will either contain another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun or a Bagann, so you may not wish to stand directly in front of capsule after opening it in case another one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. Continue floating to the left down onto the next platform (which is connected to the left wall again) as you come to another Efila on the ceiling who is spitting projectiles at you; once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, continue flying to the right as you come to a Winky Octy and another Gilly Octy who are firing projectiles at you while spawning Blanula and Skifla. Once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla he has spawned to kill them, and enough shots at both of these two Octy themselves to kill them, they will leave two more capsules behind - and once again, for the rest of the game, they will either contain another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun or a Bagann, so you may not wish to stand directly in front of the capsule after opening it, in case third one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. Continue floating to the right down on to the next platform (which is connected to the right wall again), as you come up to third Gilly Octy and another Tuning Octy who are firing projectiles at you (the Tuning Octy will, again, be firing them in three directions), while spawning Blanula and Skifla; once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla they have spawned to kill them, and enough shots at both of these two Octy themselves to kill them, they will leave two more capsules behind. Yet again, for the rest of the game, these two capsules will contain: either another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun, or a Bagann - so you may not wish to stand directly in front of the capsule after opening it in case a fourth or fifth one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. But regardless of what these two capsules contained, you will now come to a third Efila on the ceiling; once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, continue floating to the left down to the ground, as you come to third Tuning Octy and another Winky Octy who are firing projectiles at you (the Tuning Octy will once again be firing them, in three directions), while spawning Blanula and Skifla - and once you have fired a shot at all the Blanula and Skifla they have spawned to kill them, and enough shots at both of the Octy themselves to kill them, they will leave two more capsules behind. For a fifth time, for the rest of the game, they will contain either another Paccet, a Jewel, a Ray Gun or a Bagann; so you may not wish to stand directly in front of the capsule after opening it in case a sixth or seventh one comes bursting out and starts chasing after you. But regardless of what these two capsules contained, you will come to a fourth Efila upon the ceiling - and once you have flown up to his level and fired a shot at him to kill him, go down the pipe at the bottom-right of the floor in order to proceed to the next floor. You'll then receive 100 bonus points for every shield you have remaining (the maximum for this fourth floor is 500; you will also have to watch out for Leap Baganns during this floor, because killing one will cause the first bonus character [the Baby Molamola] to appear. If you catch him as he falls, you will receive a 1000-point bonus - however, if you miss it, the potential points are simply lost).

If the end-of-floor bonus game has been invoked, press the Firing Button to slow down and stop the red square that is moving around the virtual octagon on the left side of the screen, in a clockwise direction; there is still a maximum of a 8/8 chance of it landing on a Paccet (the only guaranteed way to gain an extra shield here), a maximum of a 7/8 (or a 6/8 if you have three shields, or a 5/8 if you have four shields, or a 4/8 if you have five shields) chance of it landing on an "N", and (if you have three shields) a maximum of 1/8 (or 2/8 if you have four shields, or 3/8 if you have five shields) chance of it landing on an Octy. Then, it's on to Floor 5 - which is the first floor in the game to not contain any Octy at all, but you can still be injured by those minor enemies.

Floor 5

Once Kissy has come down the pipe at the top-left of the floor, you will notice that there are no Octy at all on this floor, for it is the equivalent of a "bonus collection stage"; there are six capsules arranged in an "L"-shape around the floor which lead to the automatically-open pipe at the bottom-right of it, and they will most likely contain other Paccets, Jewels or Ray Guns. However, you cannot rule out the possibility of any of them not containing Baganns - so if one bursts out of one of the capsules, and starts chasing after you, you should immediately go down the pipe in order to proceed to the next floor. You will then receive 100 bonus points for every shield you have remaining (the maximum for this fifth floor is 600; you should also watch out for any minors).

If the end-of-floor bonus game has been invoked, press the Firing Button to slow down and stop the red square that is moving around the virtual octagon on the left side of the screen, in a clockwise direction; there is still a maximum of a 8/8 chance of it landing on a Paccet (the only guaranteed way to gain an extra shield here), a maximum of a 7/8 (or a 6/8 if you have three shields, or a 5/8 if you have four shields, or a 4/8 if you have five shields, or a 3/8 if you have six shields), chance of it landing on an "N", and (if you have three shields), a maximum of 1/8 (or 2/8 if you have four shields, or 3/8 if you have five shields, or 4/8 if you have six shields) chance of it landing on an Octy. Then, it's on to Floor 6 - which is the first boss floor of the game. Be prepared.

Floor 6

Once Kissy (or Takky if it is a two-player game) has come down the pipe at the top of the floor, the first Blue Worm will start to advance on him; each of his four eyes takes eight hits to destroy, and if you still have Paccets here, they will appear above your spaceman's head while revolving in a clockwise direction before throwing themselves at the Blue Worm in order to stun him for a few seconds (this will kill them, however) and allow you to get in some extra hits. Once all four of his eyes have been destroyed, he will emit a scream of death (again, this was the only game from Namco to use one of their programmable sound generators for speech) and explode - you can now go down that pipe at the bottom of the floor in order to proceed to the second world, and you'll then receive 100 bonus points for every shield you have remaining (the maximum for this sixth floor is 700, and regardless of whether you have any Paccets remaining or not, that end-of-floor bonus game won't be invoked here. It will also not be invoked on any later boss floors, either).
