Story[edit]

The game is based on a 1966 Twentieth Century Fox movie Fantastic Voyage.

Gameplay[edit]

The player uses an 8-way joystick to guide a microscopic ship through an infected person's body, with a single button to make it fire shots at the infecting viruses - and even though the ship is always moving forward, pushing the joystick up makes the screen scroll faster, and this has to be done as the player has an oxygen meter which will cost them a life if it expires (however, the meter can be refilled by the collection of oxygen capsules). The game starts inside the infected person's arm, where the player must kill spear-throwing viruses; the player may only fire two shots on screen at a time, and if they reach the infected person's heart, they must destroy a larger virus inside it. After navigating another bloodstream (which is infected by dividing viruses), the player will reach the infected person's stomach, in which they have to destroy another larger virus - and after navigating a third bloodstream (which is infected by trident-throwing viruses), they will reach the infected person's right eye, in which they must find their way through a maze (which becomes invisible when the eye closes). The cycle then repeats at a harder difficulty.
