Benimaru Nikaido - Ratio 1

CVS Benimaru.jpg

For more information about Benimaru, see his King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) and King of Fighters (Nests Saga) entries.

Benimaru Nikaido is one of the main characters from The King of Fighters series, famous for being the second member of the "Japan Team" composed of Kyo Kusanagi and Goro Daimon, as well as being the leader of his own "Benimaru Team" in 2000 and the second member of the "Rival Team" in KOF XI. Benimaru is born of half-Japanese and American descent, and wears a waist-length sleeveless top with matching jeans/pants. Benimaru, while sometimes outspoken and flamboyant, means business in battle since he's very proud of his skills and doesn't want anyone to look down on him for his good looks. He also likes to say English quotes upon winning a battle. He also respects ladies, as shown with a special introduction pose before engaging in battle with a female opponent. Even though he tends to be more than a flighty flirt, when it comes to certain things (along with seeming as if he has an indecisive mind), Benimaru in fact has a heart of gold, his loyalty and respect can go a long way and even behind the American exterior he still holds close the Japanese personality traits.

Normal Benimaru plays very much like his original KOF '94 style. Extra Benimaru is more like his altered KOF '98 style. Likewise, in Capcom vs. SNK 2, he incorporates many of his later abilities.

Pro version changes

  • Extra Benimaru can no longer use his glitch with the Electrigger in single-player Arcade mode amass large amounts of Groove Points.
  • Extra Benimaru's special command throw takes less frames to initate and has a much faster recovery when missed.

Geese Howard - Ratio 3

CVS Geese.jpg

For more information about Geese, see his Fatal Fury and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

Geese Howard appears in several SNK fighting games. He is better known as the chief antagonist in the Fatal Fury series up until the Real Bout Fatal Fury series. Geese is the local crime boss of the fictional city of South Town and is the man responsible for the death of Jeff Bogard, Terry and Andy's father. After his death in Real Bout, his son Rock Howard becomes the series' leading character in Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Geese has also appeared in a few The King of Fighters games, while his young self makes an appearance in the second Art of Fighting game. In most games of the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series, Geese only wears the red hakama pants with the white gi either not present or hanging off the back/sides.

Normal Geese plays most like his presentation in the Fatal Fury series. Extra Geese most closely represents the abilities that he had in The King of Fighters '96. In Capcom vs. SNK 2, he plays more like Extra Geese, but he has Normal Geese's travelling Reppukens.

Pro version changes

  • Geese's counters now counter any physical attack move in their range, including supers.
  • Geese received a typical tonedown in that he cannot combo Reppukens off the short in either Normal or Extra.
  • Geese has the most damaging combo in all of Pro with a jumping Arcade-Button-HKick.png, standing Arcade-Button-HPunch.png, Level 3 Rising Storm; it instantly kills ratio 1's, and takes off 95% of a ratio 2's life bar.
  • Normal Geese's single Reppuken is slower and he has a longer delay when throwing it.
  • Normal Geese can no longer combo into his Double Repukken from the first hit of standing Arcade-Button-HKick.png.
  • Geese can cancel his Forehead Blow move into a counter at various new points in its animation (it can still be cancelled into a Reppuken upon contact as in the original).
  • The first hit of Extra Geese's double reppuken no longer holds opponents in place, but rather pushes them back. This means that the second hit is no longer guaranteed, even off a crouching Arcade-Button-HPunch.png.

Iori Yagami - Ratio 2

CVS Iori.jpg

For more information about Iori, see his King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) and King of Fighters (Nests Saga) entries.

Iori Yagami made his first appearance in the Neo Geo fighting game, The King of Fighters '95. He is a central recurring character and the initial enemy (and eventual rival) of Kyo Kusanagi. He wears an instantly recognizable outfit of a black jacket (slightly cut off above the waist with a white crescent moon on the back) over a long white button-down shirt with the sleeves open, red pants that are tied together just below the knees with a red belt, and a black leather collar around his neck. He also wears a plain silver ring around his left middle finger. The significance of the ring (if any) is unknown. Iori is the current descendant of the Yagami clan (it is rumored that Rock's mother is a descendant of the Yagami clan; because she is the descendant of a female she does not have the last name Yagami). Kyo and Iori continue the ancient feud, though fate would (somewhat) steer them off the footsteps of their ancestors.

Pro version changes

  • Iori can no longer combo into his Deadly Flower from Arcade-Button-LPunch.png and Arcade-Button-LKick.png, only Arcade-Button-HPunch.png.
  • Iori's Oniyaki move has improved priority. The first hit of the Arcade-Button-HPunch.png version knocks down so that Iori is not left vulnerable if it doesn't get all the hits.
  • His Kuzukaze is faster, but still difficult to combo after and it still has very small range :(
  • The Ya Sakazuki super comes out closer together, and doesn't allow Iori as much time to charge his SNK bar when blocked (he can still link from a MAX Ya Sakazuki into his MAX Ya Otome if it hits from a distance).
  • Yami Barai recovery is a bit better.
  • It is much harder to combo off of Iori's crossup, as it doesn't seem to "pull" your opponent towards you after a hit as much as it used to.

Iori, Orochi - Ratio 4

CVS Orochi Iori.jpg

For more information about Orochi Iori, see his King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entry.

At the end of The King of Fighters '96, Iori joined in Kyo's attack on Goenitz. With a double blow of crimson flames, Kyo and Iori defeated Goenitz. Afterwards, Iori walked away. He stopped, looking to the ground and began to feel bad. His eyes got hazy, and he began coughing blood—symptoms of the "Riot of the Blood". Unable to control this surge of Orochi power, Iori violently killed his companions, Mature and Vice. After the two murders, Iori disappeared for a year, continuing to suffer from multiple outbreaks of the Riot of Blood (resulting in a number of fatalities). Iori had been entered in the next King of Fighters tournament of 1997 as a single entry. Iori once again entered the Riot of Blood, and went into a berserk rampage that grew and grew with the presence of Orochi. With much difficulty, the other fighters were able to calm him down through force.

Pro version changes

  • Orochi Iori's speed has been toned down, he's not much faster than regular Iori now.
  • Orochi Iori cannot combo into the Aoi Hana from Arcade-Button-LPunch.png or Arcade-Button-LKick.png.
  • It is easier to combo into his Oni Honou Super Combo off of the second hit of the Aoi Hana in the corner.

Joe Higashi - Ratio 1

Capcom vs. SNK Pro/Joe

Kim Kaphwan - Ratio 2

CVS Kim.jpg

For more information about Kim, see his Fatal Fury and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

Kaphwan Kim, usually written surname first as Kim Kaphwan, is in both the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series by SNK. Kim is a master of taekwondo, and also considers himself a fighter of justice. Since Kim was young and during his taekwondo training sessions, he was always reminded to fight for justice, and use the martial art as a way to accomplish this. One of Kim's defining characteristics is his strong, inherent sense of justice. It is to the point where he has the innate ability to tell whether or not someone is evil or holds dark intentions just by looking at that person. Kim strives for excellence and righteousness in everything he does, be it his fighting or personal life. He is a loving husband and father, and a strict disciplinarian. He is deeply respected and admired by his acquaintances for his honesty and bravery, and has many friends amongst the characters in both King Of Fighters and Fatal Fury (chief amongst them being Fatal Fury's main protagonist, Terry Bogard).

Normal Kim plays very like his his Fatal Fury incarnation while Extra Kim plays closer to his representation in The King of Fighters. Kim in Capcom vs. SNK 2 plays like a fusion of the two versions.

Pro version changes

  • Kim can combo into Haki Kyaku off of his normal crouncing Arcade-Button-LPunch.png or Arcade-Button-LKick.png or even the first hit of his in close standing Arcade-Button-HPunch.png. For Extra Kim, this makes for some very stylish combos such as jumping Arcade-Button-HKick.png, crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png (cancel) --> Haki Kyaku (cancel) --> Hou'ou Tenbu Kyaku.
  • Extra Kim's Hou'ou Hiten Kyaku Super Combo takes off much less life than it used to, although it does retain the ability to juggle after a Level 2 or even a Level 3/MAX with the Level 1 Hou'ou Tenbu Kyaku for decent life.
  • Kim's Level 1 Hou'ou Tenbu Kyaku has less priority. It will trade hits a lot more than it used to.
  • Kim's Hangetsuzan hits higher now; it feels a bit like the KoF version. This means it's harder to do things like Cannon Spike him out of it after he buffers it from a Roundhouse sweep.
  • Less priority on his Haki Kyaku when used on its own, it hits slightly different now and doesn't seem to "pound the ground" as forcefully as it used to.

King - Ratio 1

CVS King.jpg

For more information about King, see his Art of Fighting and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

King is in both the Art of Fighting and The King of Fighters series. She debuted in the original Art of Fighting as the sole playable female character. King is a kind, trustworthy but violent woman. She is unquestionably loyal to her friends, but relentlessly unforgiving towards her enemies. Although King is a passionate woman, she rarely shows a sensitive side to her friends (and when she does, things just seem to go wrong). She loves to dress in men's clothing and has a great affinity for fine wine. Though King is often at war with her own sex, she appears to not be so with her sexuality and as well has having an implied pregnancy, she seems to be attracted to Ryo Sakazaki. They even have special starting poses to imply this. Although King acts very masculine at the best of times, traces of femininity can't help but show themselves every now and then. For, King assumes a very feminine pose during her taunt in which she says, "C'mon Baby!"

Normal King plays very much like her variations in The King of Fighters. Extra King plays more as an homage to her original incarnation in the Art of Fighting. In Capcom vs. SNK 2, she goes back to her KOF commands.

Pro version changes

  • King can throw in the Silent Flash after nearly anything now in the corner (even after her two hit Tornado Kick).
  • It is harder to combo into the Silent Flash on the ground (most of the time the second hit misses even if you are in the corner unless you are very deep).
  • The range has been increased on her crouching Arcade-Button-HKick.png.
  • Her crouching Arcade-Button-HPunch.png has better priority against air attacks and it comes out faster.
  • Universal roll has a faster recovery.
  • King's crouching Arcade-Button-HPunch.png is harder to combo into in general with Normal King; when comboed into the Silent Flash the second hit misses, and she cannot connect into the Trap Shot with it. It's only useful to combo into the Venom and Double Strike.

Kyo Kusanagi - Ratio 2

CVS Kyo.jpg

For more information about Kyo, see his King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) and King of Fighters (Nests Saga) entries.

Kyo Kusanagi is one of the main characters in The King of Fighters series. In the games, Kyo's style of speech (pronouns and grammar style that are indicative of arrogance and even rudeness in Japanese culture), distinctive victory cry (Ore no... kachi da!, Japanese for "This is my victory!" and translated in KOF: Maximum Impact as "I am... the champion!"), and win quotes seem to indicate that he is arrogant, a little devil-may-care and very cocksure of himself. Despite this demeanor, he treasures his friends and family, enjoying their presence and particularly doting on his girlfriend Yuki - a detail reflective of his heritage, as she is descended from the bloodline of Kushinada, the maiden that was nearly sacrificed to Orochi before the intervention of the Kusanagi, Yasakani and Yata clans. He and his often-absent father Saisyu tend squabble with and grumble over each other when they are together, but merely in jest. By contrast, he gets along well with his mother Shizuka and is very respectful to her.

Normal Kyo plays very much like his appearance in The King of Fighters '98. Extra Kyo plays more like he originally did in The King of Fighters '95. In Capcom vs. SNK 2, he has complete access to all of the commands he has in the later KOF games.

  • R.E.D Kick performs differently, the Arcade-Button-HKick.png version now travels in a shorter but at a much higher arc. It's best use seems to be if you happen to do the move at exactly the same time as the opponent jumps in (R.E.D. Kick will go over the top of them, hit and knockdown).
  • Kyo's standing Arcade-Button-LPunch.png has better priority and faster speed.
  • His crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png has less range than before, it will miss if just Kyo's white shoes overlap your opponents sprite (his pants have to overlap for the hit to connect).
  • The Yano Sabi comes out faster. It also has better recovery if you do not follow it up with the ground punch.
  • More priority against air attacks with the first hit of Kuno Kizu (especially the Arcade-Button-HPunch.png version), but less priority against ground attacks it seems.
  • Kyo's Oniyaki often misses if used as an anti air against opponents who don't attack, especially the Arcade-Button-HPunch.png version. It does however, knock down on the first hit meaning that Kyo is not punished if the second hit misses.
  • Extra Kyo can no longer combo into his Arcade-Button-LKick.png 75 Shiki Kai off of crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png.
  • When juggling with the Level 3/MAX Orochi Nagi, the opponent flies higher after the first three hits and the second part comes out much faster. After the initial three hits you have to hold the button down a little longer than you used to for the last three hits to connect.
  • You can combo into Orochi Nagi in a few new ways if you do not hold down the button after executing it: jumping Arcade-Button-HPunch.png, standing Arcade-Button-HPunch.png (cancel) --> Level 3/MAX Orochi Nagi; With Extra Kyo, jumping Arcade-Button-HKick.png, standing Arcade-Button-HPunch.png (cancel) --> Arcade-Button-LKick.png 75 Shiki Kai --> Level 3/MAX Orochi Nagi for a mid air juggle.

Mai Shiranui - Ratio 2

CVS Mai.jpg

For more information about Mai, see her Fatal Fury and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

Mai Shiranui is from both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series by SNK. In her mind, Andy Bogard is her fiancé who studied Ninjutsu with her grandfather, Hanzo. The relationship between the two is often unclear and subliminal, usually on Andy's part, who at times seems to suppress his feelings for her in favor of treating her like a little sister. Mai is very popular with fans, mostly due to her highly attractive character design. Many see her as a prime example of this kind of depiction of women in video games and anime (predictably, Mai's breasts appear larger in art than her printed measurements). She typically wears exceptionally low-cut blouses, dresses, and clothing to maximize the exposure of her cleavage and most fight scenes involving Mai include several shots that focus especially on her breasts and buttocks. Mai seems to have been one of the sexier and hotter SNK women in SNK history. She is also mean to her opponents, but not to her friends, and also insulting her opponents with awful words. In SVC Chaos, she insults her rival, Chun-Li, by calling her pantyhose "chunky legs" and by calling Iori Yagami "gloomy gus".

While Normal Mai is taken primarily from her incarnation in the Fatal Fury series, Extra Mai seems to be a mix of Fatal Fury and KOF together. As with other characters in the original, Mai is a fusion of both styles in her Capcom vs. SNK 2 appearance.

Pro version changes

  • Extra Mai's Mizutori no Mai Super Combo comes out a lot faster. However, the last hit seems to miss when used as an anti air juggle. This also makes it possible for characters like Zangief to roll past it, as it was virtually impossible in the original CVS.
  • Mai lands on the ground faster after the Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi.

Nakoruru - Ratio 2

CVS Nakoruru.jpg

For more information about Nakoruru, see her Samurai Shodown entry.

Nakoruru is from the Samurai Shodown series. She is a young girl dressed in clothing that looks like Ainu traditional clothes. The basic colors of her clothes are white and red. She fights with a kodachi named Chichiushi and a hawk named Mamahaha assists her. The original idea of her came from the indigenous Ainu people of Hokkaidō, Japan, who are analogous in Japan to the Native Americans in the United States. As the Japanese perceive the Ainu as living closer to nature, Nakoruru's role in the game is of a defender of Mother Nature; in some material Nakoruru has been referred to as a priestess of the Ainu religion. She is present in Capcom vs. SNK as the secret SNK character (as Morrigan is the secret character from Capcom) and the sole representative from Samurai Shodown until she is joined by Haohmaru in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Pro version changes

  • She has had many of her moves toned down in priority.
  • She has longer delays at the end of her Mamahaha attacks or her Annu Mutsube or Lela Mutsube.
  • Annu Mutsube has shorter distance.
  • Nakoruru seems to have altered timing on her Shichikapu Kamui Irushika Super Combo.
  • She receives less recovery after her Shirikoro Kamui Nomi healing super.
  • Nakoruru's Mutsubes (both of them) are slower. Shichikapu Etu Brute is definitely slower (it can't combo anymore), but still pretty fast.

Raiden - Ratio 2

CVS Raiden.jpg

For more information about Raiden, see his Fatal Fury entry.

  • First appearance: Fatal Fury
  • Other appearances: none
  • Related characters: none

Raiden originally appeared in the first Fatal Fury (and its 3D remake, Wild Ambitions) as a large character wearing a blue wrestling suit and mask with a yellow lightning bolt down its center. In Fatal Fury 2, he appears in a black wrestling suit and is unmasked. In that form he assumes the persona of Big Bear, and bears a strong physical resemblance to real-life wrestler Big Van Vader. The Big Bear persona is mainly used when he plays himself off as a fan favorite whereas the Raiden persona is mostly used if he plays himself off as a hated villain. Raiden hails from Alice Springs, Australia, and is one of Geese Howard's henchmen, despite his friendship with Geese's enemy Terry Bogard. In the Capcom vs. SNK series, Raiden sparks up a heated rivalry with Zangief from the Street Fighter series.

Normal Raiden represents how player might be most familiar with him in his depiction in Fatal Fury Special. Extra Raiden is a bit more of an original design. As per the norm, Raiden is a fusion of both version in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Pro version changes

  • Raiden's charging shoulder special has a much faster startup when using the Arcade-Button-LPunch.png version.
  • Normal Raiden can no longer combo from Arcade-Button-LKick.png into the double body combination.
  • Raiden's Shoulder Ram goes farther: half screen on Arcade-Button-LPunch.png, full screen on Arcade-Button-HPunch.png.

Rugal Bernstein - Ratio 3

CVS Rugal.jpg

For more information about Rugal, see his King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entry.

Rugal Bernstein, also known as Rugal or Rugal B. is a recurring boss in SNK's The King of Fighters series and is often considered one of the most difficult bosses in the entire series. According to his official biography, Rugal was born on February 10, with no place specified, possibly Germany. His blood type was unknown. His hobby was "resurrection." He had no favorite food or sport (claimed he's good at everything). His fighting style was an amalgam of various arts, including Hakkyokuseiken and House of Strolheim, the styles used by Geese Howard and Wolfgang Krauser. He has adapted several moves from each character, such as Geese's Reppuken and Krauser's Kaiser Wave, though he also uses his own techniques, like the Genocide Cutter. In the US release of Capcom vs. SNK 2, parts of the game were also censored; for example, the word "Genocide" was taken out of his trademark move Genocide Cutter and it became "Destroyer Cutter". Rugal's DM version, Genocide Heaven became "Total Annihilation" in the English version as well. The voice clip for Genocide Cutter is also removed and replaced with a grunt.

Normal Rugal plays like his The King of Fighters '98 appearance in the Dream Match, while Extra Rugal plays more like the Omega Rugal seen in the same game. In Capcom vs. SNK 2, these identities are distinguished between his normal version and Ultimate Rugal.

Pro version changes

  • Rugal's Reppu Ken comes out faster on the ground and has less delay in Normal.
  • His Kaiser Wave also comes out faster.
  • Genoicide Cutter is faster and has more priority, the Arcade-Button-HKick.png version travels really high in the air so you can no longer cross it up easily. It can even catch high jumpers like Benimaru.
  • Extra Rugal's Dark Smash on the ground comes out slightly faster and has better priority.
  • Extra Rugal's Rugal Execution grab has more priority on the ground (even against high priority specials such as Dan's Arcade-Button-LKick.png Dankyaku). However, it has a longer delay when missed or blocked.
  • Rugal can juggle into his Total Annihilation super in the corner from just about anything in both Normal and Extra. This includes the God Press, the Gigantic Pressure super, his air or ground Dark Smash in Extra, or his Rugal Execution in Extra.
  • This allows for corner combos such as regular Rugal's jumping Arcade-Button-HKick.png, crouching Arcade-Button-HPunch.png (cancel) --> God Press --> Level 1 Total Annihilation for the juggle. This can take around 75% of a ratio 2's characters life bar using only one level of super.
  • He cannot combo out of a crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png into his God Press. However, he can still combo off the crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png into his Genocide Cutter or Total Annihilation super.

Ryo Sakazaki - Ratio 2

CVS Ryo.jpg

For more information about Ryo, see his Art of Fighting and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

Ryo Sakazaki is the main character in Art of Fighting, and one of the main characters in The King of Fighters. The story of Ryo begins in the first Art of Fighting in a traditional damsel in distress story. Yuri is kidnapped by Mr. Big, a local criminal mastermind. With the help of best friend and rival Robert Garcia, Ryo manages to confront Mr. Big, leading him to a karate dojo where a mysterious man (originally unnamed in the game, but was named "Mr. Karate" by fans, and officially named as such in later games) challenges the two to a fight. When Ryo prevailed, he threatens to kill Mr. Karate unless he knew that Yuri was alive. As Ryo prepared to kill him, Yuri appears, telling Ryo to stop, for Mr. Karate was their father. During this journey, Ryo met a bouncer named King, a Muay Thai expert. There has been some unspoken romantic tension between the two.

Normal Ryo is based on his Art of Fighting style of play. Extra Ryo is based more on his appearance in The King of Fighters, in particular the versions from '96 and beyond. Ryo in Capcom vs. SNK 2 is a blend of the two styles.

Pro version changes

  • Improved vertical priority on Ryo's Kohou.
  • Ryo can cancel into a regular Ko'ou Ken from his standing Arcade-Button-HPunch.png and Arcade-Button-HKick.png
  • Lower Priority on his Level 1 Ryoku Ranbu, even if done very close to the opponent. If they have a roundhouse out it will likely trade hits instead of connect.
  • Improved Speed on the startup for the Haou Shoukou Ken, and it's better as an anti-air.
  • Extra Ryo's Tenchi Haou Ken Super Combo has nearly twice as much range as before; it can hit from nearly a three character distance away.
  • Extra Ryo can no longer combo into his 3 hit auto combo special from the crouching Arcade-Button-LKick.png.
  • Ryo's Hien Shippuu Kyaku also goes fullscreen on Arcade-Button-HKick.png, the second part of the kick no longer misses a lot after the first hit connects as it used to.
  • The Haou Shoukou Ken increases in size as the level of super used increases. Much bigger and more effective as a Level 3.

Terry Bogard - Ratio 2

CVS Terry.jpg

For more information about Terry, see his Fatal Fury and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entries.

Terry Bogard is a character created by SNK, and is the main character of the Fatal Fury series. He has appeared in every Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters game, and is one of the characters of choice to symbolize the company in crossover games, merchandise and publicity. He appears to fit many Japanese stereotypes for an American character in appearance, personality and speech (his in-game vocabulary is usually limited to American colloquialisms, such as "Okay!" and "Hey, c'mon, c'mon."). Terry Bogard is the brother of Andy Bogard. Both of them were orphans adopted by Jeff Bogard. He is often referred to as the Legendary Hungry Wolf (from Garou Densetsu, meaning Legend of the Hungry Wolf). He has a pet monkey named Ukee (the previous mascot of SNK before Terry) and is said to have the unique ability of accurately guessing a woman's measurements just by glancing at her. He also has a knack for shooting three-pointers or free throws in basketball, which explains the creation of his Power Dunk move.

Normal Terry is based primarily on his Fatal Fury incarnations, with the inclusion of his Buster Wolf Super Combo from Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Extra Terry is based on his appearances in The King of Fighters, mostly the early versions from '96 to '98. Extra Terry really only differs in one move; he loses Rising Tackle and gains Power Dunk. In Capcom vs. SNK 2, he has both moves.

Pro version changes

  • Terry can now follow up a level 3/MAX Buster Wolf with a level 1 Power Geyser from anywhere on screen (he can also follow up with a Arcade-Button-LPunch.png Burning Knuckle if you don't have a super stocked). This can also be done if you land a very close level 2 Buster Wolf.
  • Terry can now combo into his Power Wave from any hard attacks including crouching (this also works for Extra Terry now making his fireball useful).
  • Extra Terry's Arcade-Button-HPunch.png Power Wave has much more range than it used to and it comes out faster, making it useful for snuffing standing ranged pokes. Normal Terry's Arcade-Button-LPunch.png Power Wave comes out slower and his Arcade-Button-HPunch.png version faster.
  • The Universal roll on the ground is slower than before and has slightly longer recovery.
  • You can also combo into his Arcade-Button-LPunch.png Burning Knuckle from any hard attack after it connects, so no more penalty for missing a fierce combo into the Power Geyser when a Burning Knuckle comes out.
  • His Burning Knuckle seems to come out faster, his Crack Shoot seems a little slower.
  • Terry's crouching Arcade-Button-HKick.png comes out slower and has less priority.

Vice - Ratio 1

CVS Vice.jpg

For more information about Vice, see her King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entry.

Vice was conceived to be the Yang that would balance Mature's Yin. If Mature was to be the ruthless woman, Vice was to be the cruel woman. Her rage, impulsivity and irrationality are properties of Yang. Her name is a sexual term used to describe sexual immorality. It can also mean a character's flaw. In addition, the Japanese word for "malice", tsumi, is often translated as "vice". Her rage can be seen in a few of her voice samples. The voice samples heard during her special/super moves are various profanities in Japanese. Many of Vice's special/super moves appear to be various names of Extreme metal bands. Vice is a somewhat violent person, taking great pleasure in killing others and seemingly immune to their pain; she also seems to be in an eternal state of anger and frustration. Additionally, it should be noted that her and Mature are not precisely friends, but instead help each other in order to free the power of Orochi. Vice's hobby has once been said to be bench pressing, which could also account for her strength based moves.

Normal Vice is based on a set of moves that she has that allows for multiple throws. Extra Vice is based more on moves that she has had that allow her to attack immediately after throwing an opponent. Vice is a blend of both methods in Capcom vs. SNK 2

Pro version changes

  • Extra Vice's shoulder charge hits differently, making it easier to anticipate when to cancel into the upwards Decide Slayer.
  • Vice's Gorefest has longer animation after you connect with it allowing you to juggle with the Tranquility. You can juggle with the Arcade-Button-LPunch.png tranquility anywhere on screen, not just in the corner.

Yamazaki - Ratio 3

CVS Yamazaki.jpg

For more information about Yamazaki, see his Fatal Fury and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entry.

In contrast with most of the other fighters in combat video games, Yamazaki does not use any particular martial art - he is a self-taught brawler, and uses a wide variety of attacks in his fighting, including unfair and dishonest moves such as kicking sand in his opponent's eyes, and his ever-present knife. He also rarely takes his right hand out of his pocket unless he is using his knife. Yamazaki never had parents to look up to when he was growing up, so he quickly fell in with the wrong crowd at a young age. Eventually, after years of petty crime, he fell under the tutelage of a crime boss, where he soon climbed the ranks of crime until he became the boss's right-hand man. One day, Yamazaki and his boss went to a warehouse where an illegal deal was taking place. Yamazaki felt that something wasn't quite right with the situation, and told his boss so. The boss laughed Yamazaki's feeling off and ordered him to stay with him. Unfortunately, the deal was a setup, and both Yamazaki and his boss were ambushed by rival criminals. Yamazaki's boss was killed, and seeing the only "parent" that he ever had die before his eyes drove Yamazaki to insanity. He is now completely psychotic and is extremely mentally unbalanced. In 1995, Yamazaki was signed up by Jin Chonrei and Jin Chonshu to protect them and the scrolls of immortality.

Normal Yamazaki plays very much as he does in the Fatal Fury series. Extra Yamazaki is closer to his appearance in The King of Fighters. His style in Capcom vs. SNK 2 is closer to his KOF version.

Pro version changes

  • Capcom added a new delay after his missed Drill Super Combo; he swings his arm instead of just lowering his hand, making it easier to counter-attack him.
  • All three of his Hebi Tsukai have increased speed allowing you to use them as counters outside of combos for poking.
  • It's harder to combo into the serpent slash from his crouching Arcade-Button-HKick.png (timing must be during the first part of animation).
  • If you press and hold down the Punch button for the Hebi Tsukai, then cancel with Arcade-Button-HKick.png, the taunt will be faster and Yamazaki will recover sooner.
  • Arcade-Button-HPunch.png Sabaki no Aikuchi no longer knocks down after the second hit.
  • Normal Yamazaki loses his overhead hit (Arcade-Stick-Right.png+Arcade-Button-LPunch.png in the original CvS).
  • Extra Yamazaki gains the overhead hit that Normal Yamazaki lost.

Yuri Sakazaki - Ratio 1

CVS Yuri.jpg

For more information about Yuri, see her Art of Fighting and King of Fighters (Orochi Saga) entry.

Yuri Sakazaki is a character from SNK's Art of Fighting series and The King of Fighters series as one of the supporting characters. She was introduced as a damsel in distress in the original Art of Fighting, and Art of Fighting 2 was the first game Yuri appeared in as a playable character. Since then, she has appeared in many SNK fighting games, including The King of Fighters series and SNK vs. series, alongside her older brother Ryo Sakazaki. She is the first and only known female practitioner of Kyokugen Karate. Yuri Sakazaki is a very sweet young woman. She always cares about her family and friends. She loves and honors her father Takuma and sees him as an example, and she also respects her older brother Ryo as well. She is bothered when Takuma and Ryo constantly get involved in her affairs. She also enjoys being with Robert, but she denies to reveal her true feelings for him since his journey to Central America to assist his childhood friend, Freya Lawrence. She has many friends within the King of Fighters circle and outside of it and enjoys spending time with them.

Normal Yuri is based on her appearance in The King of Fighters series, primarily from '96 and beyond. Extra Yuri is closer to her depiction in the Art of Fighting series. She is a blend of the two in Capcom vs. SNK 2, favoring her KOF depictions.

Pro version changes

  • Normal Yuri's Hien Rekkou has many more invincible frames that it used to at startup, and will go through many close range ground attacks even as a Level 1. It does decent damage now too.
  • Upgraded damage for Hyakuretsu Binta, even though it appears to have lost some priority.
  • Improved Speed on the startup for the Haou Shoukou Ken, and it is better as an anti air.
  • The Haou Shoukou Ken increases in speed as the level of super used increases. It is much faster and more effective at full screen distance as a Level 3.
