Candles[edit | edit source]
You won't find items lying around on the ground. To obtain items, you must first whip a candle and expose the item it contains. Each candle in the game will always contain the same item every time you play the game. The items you can find in each candle are as follows:

Collect hearts to partially restore some of your missing health. |

Much more rare than regular hearts, collect a flashing heart to fully restore your health bar. |

Collecting a 1up symbol is the key to being granted an extra life. Extra lives are also granted for every 10,000 points you obtain. |

Holding a cross will grant you temporary invincibility. While Chris is flashing, he can safely walk through enemies, but he will still not survive falling down a pit or landing on spikes. |

Gather standard orbs to increase the power of your whip. A regular Leather Whip will be transformed into a Morning Star. A Morning Star will gain the ability to shoot fireballs ahead. There are no more power ups beyond the fireball. |

The boss of each stage will not appear until you reveal and collect the flashing orb. Even Dracula won't appear until you touch this orb. |

Coins are only worth points, but every increase in score brings you closer to the next 10,000 point extra life. |
