Mappy is a series of five games that were released by Namco, between 1983 and 1995. The original game was a platform game which ran on the company's Super Pac-Man hardware (two Motorola M6809 microprocessors running at 1.536 MHz but modified to support horizontal scrolling), the second game was an action game which ran on the company's System 86 hardware (two Motorola M6809 microprocessors and a Hitachi HD-63701 sub-microprocessor running at 1.536 MHz), the third and fourth games were two more platform games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and the fifth, final game was released as part of the compilation arcade game Namco Classics Collection Vol. 1, which ran on Namco ND-1 hardware.

Mappy (1983): The first title in the series was licensed to Bally Midway for US manufacture and distribution, and was the first game from Namco to feature the text "All Rights Reserved" on its title screen. It was also the company's first platform game, and the first game from the company to feature an invulnerable enemy that appeared when players had taken too long.

Hopping Mappy (1986): The second title in the series was released directly by Namco, and saw Mappy bouncing around gardens on a pogo stick trying to collect Japanese-style items. Because it ran upon System 86 hardware, it was also the only title in the series to use a Yamaha YM-2151 FM sound chip for its songs, and a custom DAC for the balloons' explosions.

Mappy Land (1986): The third title in the series was released directly by Namco (in the same year as the previous title) for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and saw a redesigned Mappy travelling through four themed worlds trying to collect pieces of cheese, engagement rings, and Christmas trees for his girlfriend, Mapico - and baseballs for his son, Mappy Jr.

Mappy Kids (1989): The fourth title in the series was also released directly by Namco for the Nintendo Entertainment System - but only in Japan. It saw Mappy collecting money (Yens) during the normal side-scrolling rounds, which he then had to fight to keep during the end-of-round minigames (which can be seen as a precursor to the boss battles of Marvel Land).

Mappy Arrangement (1995): The fifth and final title in the series was released as part of the compilation arcade game Namco Classics Collection Vol. 1, along with a carbon copy of the original, and both carbon copies and "Arrangement" versions of Galaga (1981) and Xevious (1982). A second player could also join in as an orange-suited, sunglasses-wearing Mappy.
