The '''Neo Geo Pocket''' was a handheld system that was primarily released in Japan, and saw very little distribution beyond. The system initially sold well, but was technologically eclipsed by the release of the [[Game Boy Color]] shortly after its release. The Neo Geo Pocket was a handheld system that was primarily released in Japan, and saw very little distribution beyond. The system initially sold well, but was technologically eclipsed by the release of the Game Boy Color shortly after its release. SNK halted manufacturing of the NGP in 1999, and followed it up with the color-capable Neo Geo Pocket Color, which was backwards compatible with the original NGP games.
