The Nintendo Switch 2 is a hybrid console that released on June 5, 2025 and is the successor to the Nintendo Switch. It comes with two magnetically detachable controllers that are known as the Joy-Con 2. Games can be purchased physically from retail stores or digitally from the Nintendo eShop. The Switch 2 supports three types of play modes.

  • TV mode - The console is placed in the dock that is connected to a TV.
  • Tabletop mode - The console is placed on a surface with the stand out and controllers detached.
  • Handheld mode - The console is played portable with both controllers attached.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is backwards compatible with most Nintendo Switch titles, with some getting exclusive "Nintendo Switch 2 versions" made specifically for the console that feature upgraded graphics and performance and often new content.
