The PlayStation 4 is the successor to the PlayStation 3 and launched on November 15, 2013, in North America, and November 29, 2013, in Europe and Australia.

Featuring a replacement user interface for the XMB called the PlayStation Dynamic Menu. The PlayStation 4 focuses on social gaming and online content and features such as sharing screenshots and video as well as live broadcasting to services such as Twitch and Ustream. Also available is the ability to play PlayStation 4 games on a PlayStation Vita via remote play.

The controller for the PlayStation 4 has a new design compared to previous DualShock controllers. It is wider and the start and select buttons are replaced by the options and share buttons respectively. There is also a touchpad in the middle.
