CHQ Stage 2 Target Car.png

From this stage onwards, you may also pass target cars from previous stages in addition to those of subsequent ones; however, they now also work like every other non-target car, and the amount of points you shall receive every time you ram into the target car on this stage has been increased to 20000.

Once Gibson and Broady's Porsche has reappeared on the screen (with a replenished amount of Turbo Activator uses), you will have to step on the gas pedal to accelerate it, then shift into high gear once it has reached 200 km/h; you will then have to turn to the right, turn to the left, turn to the right again, and turn to the left again (while still driving around any other randomly-generated vehicles you may catch up with) as a Special Investigation Department helicopter flies into view from the right side of the screen (and an indistinct radio announcement is heard from the Yamaha YM-2610). You'll now have to turn to the left, turn to the right, then turn to the left again as a right-pointing arrow appears in the centre of the screen and you come to a forked junction (the Special Investigation Department helicopter will also fly back up off the top of the screen at this point) - and if you choose to turn to the right you will drive into a tunnel (in which you will have to turn to the right twice more and turn to the left). Once you have come out of this tunnel, you will have to turn to the left again (as that Special Investigation Department helicopter flies back down into view from the top of the screen), then turn to the right as it flies back up off the top of it again and you pass under thirty-four bridges; you'll then have to turn to the left as you come to the point where both paths meet.

However, if you chose to turn to the left at the forked junction, you shall have to drive up a ramp as the Special Investigation Department helicopter flies up off the top of the screen, pass under a single bigger bridge, and drive into a different tunnel (in which you will have to turn to the right, turn to the left, turn to the right again and turn to the left again); once you have come out of this tunnel, you will have to turn to the right as you come to the point where both paths meet (a left-pointing arrow might also appear on the screen instead of the right-pointing one on reaching that forked junction). Regardless of which path you chose, you shall now have to turn to the left as the sky darkens, then turn to the right, turn to the left again and turn to the right again as the text "SIGHTING OF TARGET VEHICLE" appears on the screen and your time is extended to 55, 60, 65, or 70 more seconds (again, depending on how the cabinet is set) as the red police light reappears on top of the Porsche and its siren begins to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2610 for a second time - and you'll then have to turn to the left as you try to catch up with the target car, which is again indicated by that text "CRIMINALS HERE!" and an arrow in its colour above it, then ram it until it's too damaged to keep going. Once the target car's damage meter on the left side of the screen has been completely filled, it will burst into flames and stop (the Porsche will also again stop with it); the text of "STAGE 2 COMPLETE!" shall then appear on the screen, with the text of "OK! You're under arrest on suspicion of armed robbery and murder." and an image of Gibson and Broady arresting Carlos, the New York armed robber, below it. You'll now receive a "Clear Bonus" (this time of 200000 points), and a "Time Bonus" of 5000 points for every second you have remaining - and the screen shall now fade back into a shot of the Taito Monitoring System SP-01A, as it adjusts its frequency to 145.04 MHz and adjusts its signal to 5.5 (for a third time), and the following text appears letter-by-letter on its black rectangular screen (scrolling up after each line):

This is Nancy at Chase HQ.
We've got an emergency here,
a gang of Chicago pushers are
fleeing toward the suburbs.
The target vehicle is a German
sports car. Over.

A picture of the third target car will also fade in on the blue square screen and rotate in an anticlockwise direction until its rear faces the monitor, and the game will then proceed to the third stage; this stage also sees a left-pointing arrow appearing at the forked junction (as opposed to a right-pointing one).
