Combat

Combat takes place on separate planes. You can only attack enemies on the same plane as your character. To switch planes, guard (L button or R button) and press Up dpad or Down dpad. By rapidly pressing A button or B button, you can chain attacks together to form combos. Characters also have special moves that you can perform which are displayed in the move list. While guarding, you can double tap Left dpad or Right dpad to make an evasive backstep.

Lock-On

You can lock-on to an enemy by attacking with Y button. Damage is doubled and projectile attacks will home in on the target even across different planes.

Burst

If you are surrounded, you can press X button to burst and temporarily stun nearby enemies. Burst drains MP over time and can be turned off by pressing X button again. Damage is doubled while bursting and can be combined with lock-on to deal even more damage.
