Count Duckula 2 title screen (Commodore Amiga).png

You will first have to connect your Commodore 64 or Commodore Amiga (and cassette recorder, in the case of the former version) to your television (the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC versions are virtually unplayable), then switch them on; you will now have to place the cassette (disk in the case of the Commodore Amiga version) of Alternative Software's Conversion Company-developed 1992 platform game, Count Duckula 2 into the recorder (or the console itself in the case of the Amiga version), and (in the case of the C64 version, as the Amiga version loads automatically) type LOAD "" (without leaving a space between the quotation marks) then press Enter to load the program into the console (the Amiga version also has a starting cutscene):

CD2 Intro 1.png
Deep in the heart of the dark,
brooding Transylvanian Alps,
the towers of Castle Duckula
stretch up to the sky.

CD2 Intro 2.png
In the dank depths of Castle Duckula
we find Count Duckula, Nanny and Igor
enjoying some particularly potent
home brew.

CD2 Intro 3.png
Outside in the chill night air, lurks
the scheming Dr Von Goosewing. Minutes
earlier he attatched powerful rockets
to the turret containing our heroes, his
plan to blast them into orbit ridding
the earth of them forever.

CD2 Intro 4.png
With a bright flash the rockets ignite
hurling the turret into the depths of
the cosmos. This event passes un-noticed
inside until the turret enters an
asteroid storm.

CD2 Intro 5.png
Once the turret had negotiated the
asteroid belt a chance collision with
Duckula's hero Tremendous Terence
causes it to crash land on Planet Cute.
In the collision the turret's lightning
conductor is lost!
This is the turret's only source of
power and must be found at all costs...

The game will then proceed to its start screen, where you can press F1 to change the difficulty level from "EASY" to "HARD"; however, all this does is change how many times Duckula can "seize" before game-over (20 on easy difficulty, 8 on hard). When you push the joystick's button to start the game, the "lumber room" of Count Duckula's castle will appear on the screen, and begin flying upwards as asteroids fly down towards it - and you shall have to use the joystick to direct the turret, along with its button to fire shots at the asteroids (some of which shall leave Von Goosewing's satellites behind when destroyed, and they bounce around the screen for a few seconds). Whenever the turret is hit by an asteroid or a Von Goosewing satellite, all three main characters will "seize"; also, when Tremendous Terence's ship flies into view from the left side of the screen, and the turret collides with it, they will both crash-land on the Planet Cute (which looks suspiciously like Earth). The main game will now start (the ZX and CPC versions will also start at this point).

Screen 1[edit]

CD2 Screen 1.png

This screen features: seven randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet, one Caterpillar, and one Jack-In-The-Box; throughout the game, you shall have to use the randomly-appearing platforms to get across screens (because Duckula either cannot jump high enough or will "seize" if he drops down).

Screen 2[edit]

CD2 Screen 2.png

This screen features eight randomly-appearing platforms, one Ragdoll, and one Teddybear; you may also remember that the Ragdolls defy the fact that Colonel Willoughby was the only human character in the show (but this game was released after Duckula had met Victor & Hugo on Bunglers in Crime).

Screen 3[edit]

CD2 Screen 3.png

This screen features nine randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet which is suspended up in mid-air, one Caterpillar, and one Jack-In-The-Box; if one of the randomly-appearing platforms isn't present when Duckula jumps to the left to collect the Corn Packet, he will fall to the ground and "seize".

Screen 4[edit]

CD2 Screen 4.png

This screen features: five randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform (which looks identical to the randomly-appearing ones), and one Ragdoll; the moving platform does not travel all the way to the right side of the screen, so you will still have to use the randomly-appearing platforms to get there.

Screen 5[edit]

CD2 Screen 5.png

This screen features two moving platforms, one Ketchup Bottle (which, like that last Corn Packet, is suspended in mid-air), and two Jack-In-The-Boxes; but if Duckula lands on the first Jack-In-The-Box after jumping up to collect the Ketchup Bottle (even if closed), he'll "seize" and must restart the screen.

Screen 6[edit]

CD2 Screen 6.png

This screen has five randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet (which is again suspended in mid-air), one Jack-In-The-Box, and one Caterpillar; but if one of the randomly-appearing platforms isn't present when Duckula drops down to collect the Corn Packet, he will fall to the ground and "seize".

Screen 7[edit]

CD2 Screen 7.png

This screen has nine randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet, and one Ragdoll; collecting that Corn Packet also renders Duckula invulnerable for a short period of time (but only if he had collected the three previous ones, and he will still "seize" if he falls a distance greater than his own height).

Screen 8[edit]

CD2 Screen 8.png

This screen features six randomly-appearing platforms as well as two moving platforms, one Ketchup Bottle, one Jack-In-The-Box and one Caterpillar; the Ketchup Bottles should only be collected if you're low on ammunition from point-leeching (as you can stun the enemies in this game over and over).

Screen 9[edit]

CD2 Screen 9.png

This screen features seven randomly-appearing platforms as well as a singular moving platform, a singular Teddybear, and a single Jack-In-The-Box; the moving platform should also not be used, as the Jack-In-The-Box cannot be jumped over if you do due to Duckula hitting his head on the platform.

Screen 10[edit]

CD2 Screen 10.png

This screen features eight randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet (which is suspended in mid-air), one Teddybear and one Jack-In-The-Box; if one of the randomly-appearing platforms isn't present when Duckula jumps to the left to collect the Corn Packet, he will fall to the ground and "seize".

Screen 11[edit]

CD2 Screen 11.png

This screen features four randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet (which is for a fifth time suspended in mid-air), and two Jack-In-The-Boxes; the smiling stalactites and bat (the latter is also the closest to something from the show you will see in this game) are also just part of the background.

Screen 12[edit]

CD2 Screen 12.png

This screen's featuring seven randomly-appearing platforms, one Caterpillar, one Jack-In-The-Box and smiling stalactites and a bat in its background.

Screen 13[edit]

CD2 Screen 13.png

This screen's featuring seven randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform, one Corn Packet (which you'll have to use the randomly-appearing platforms to get down to, as you will "seize" if you just drop down to get it), two Jack-In-The-Boxes, and smiling stalactites and a bat in its background.

Screen 14[edit]

CD2 Screen 14.png

This screen features eight randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform, one Ketchup Bottle (which is suspended in mid-air), smiling stalactites and two bats in its background, and Igor; when Duckula meets up with his faithful butler, he will give him another chance to call Tremendous Terence.

Screen 15[edit]

CD2 Screen 15.png

This screen features four randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform, and smiling stalactites in the background (it doesn't have any enemies).

Screen 16[edit]

CD2 Screen 16.png

This screen features four randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet (which is for a sixth time suspended in mid-air), one Ragdoll, one Caterpillar, and smiling stalactites and a bat in its background; again, collecting the Corn Packet could well render Duckula invulnerable (for a short period of time).

Screen 17[edit]

CD2 Screen 17.png

This screen is featuring two randomly-appearing platforms, four moving platforms, one Corn Packet, one Jack-In-The-Box and smiling stalactites and a bat in its background; the next screen also features something you will have to see to believe, and is possibly only existent due to a programming glitch.

Screen 18[edit]

CD2 Screen 18.png

This screen features three randomly-appearing platforms, two moving platforms, one Corn Packet which is suspended in mid-air, one Teddybear (who starts out walking on thin air!), and one Jack-In-The-Box; however, once the Teddybear has walked onto the platform, he will not walk back off it again.

Screen 19[edit]

CD2 Screen 19.png

This screen features six randomly-appearing platforms, as well as one Ketchup Bottle (which is suspended up in mid-air), and two Ragdolls; due to the random appearance of the platforms you may wish to save the Ketchup Bottle for later if you run out of ketchup from repeatedly stunning the Ragdolls.

Screen 20[edit]

CD2 Screen 20.png

This screen features seven randomly-appearing platforms, one Jack-In-The-Box, and one Caterpillar; the next screen is also impossible to clear unless you have not called Tremendous Terence after meeting Igor, or (in the Amiga version) typed DUCKY on the start screen for infinite "seizings" and calls.

Screen 21[edit]

CD2 Screen 21.png

This screen features: five randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet, one Ragdoll, and one Jack-In-The-Box; as mentioned above, this screen is impossible to clear, so you'll just have to call Tremendous Terence to fly Duckula to the next one (but if you have already called him, you are doomed).

Screen 22[edit]

CD2 Screen 22.png

This screen features two moving platforms, one static platform, one Ketchup Bottle (which is for a 7th time suspended in mid-air), and two Caterpillars; again, you should only collect the Ketchup Bottle if you're low on ketchup from point-leeching. The next screen is also one of the simplest in the game.

Screen 23[edit]

CD2 Screen 23.png

This screen features ten randomly-appearing platforms and one Ragdoll; there's also only two more screens to go before you meet up with Igor again, and if you succeed in getting to him, it is advisable to save the chance to call Tremendous Terence he gives you until the last screen (for an easy win).

Screen 24[edit]

CD2 Screen 24.png

This screen features: seven randomly-appearing platforms, one Corn Packet (which is, for an eighth time, suspended in mid-air), one Teddybear, and one Jack-In-The-Box; once again, collecting the Corn Packet can render Duckula invulnerable for a short period of time, if he got three previous ones.

Screen 25[edit]

CD2 Screen 25.png

This screen features: nine randomly-appearing platforms, one Ketchup Bottle (which is suspended in mid-air!), and Igor again; it also has no enemies.

Screen 26[edit]

CD2 Screen 26.png

This screen features three moving and randomly-appearing platforms, six randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform, and no enemies at all.

Screen 27[edit]

CD2 Screen 27.png

This screen features six randomly-appearing platforms, one moving platform, one Ragdoll and one Caterpillar; there are only three more screens left.

Screen 28[edit]

CD2 Screen 28.png

This screen features ten randomly-appearing platforms, one Caterpillar, and one Jack-In-The-Box; there is also only two more screens left to go now.

Screen 29[edit]

CD2 Screen 29.png

The game's penultimate screen features eight randomly-appearing platforms and one Jack-In-The-Box; there is only one more screen left to go now.

Screen 30[edit]

CD2 Screen 30.png

The game's last screen features three randomly-appearing platforms, three moving platforms, one Jack-In-The-Box and one Ragdoll; once you have cleared it, the screen shall cut to a shot of Duckula standing behind a giant mechanical dog as Nanny walks towards it. Once she touches the dog, it explodes and leaves the lightning conductor behind - and an ominous four-note jingle will get heard as the text of "THE END" appears above Nanny.
