Ogre Magi is a melee intelligence hero who is played as a support or a ganker. At first glance, he appears to be a basic spellcaster with nukes, disables and buffs. However, what seperates Ogre Magi from a simple spellcaster is pure luck, due to his Multicast passive ultimate. If he gets lucky, all of his spells become much more powerful. Fireblast turns from a stun to a powerful nuke. Ignite becomes an area of effect skill that will burn away enemy health. He can also buff multiple allies with Bloodlust if he does get lucky. Although a hero that relies on luck might seem weak, a good Multicast will make you regret going up against him.

Abilities[edit]

Fireblast[edit]

Dota 2 ogre magi fireblast.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 80 / 145 / 210 / 275
  • Stun Duration: 1.5
  • Mana Cost: 75 / 85 / 95 / 115
  • Cooldown: 12

Fireblast damages and stuns the target. It is a rather basic stun, and the damage it deals is nothing to write home about. However, with Multicast you can do a lot of damage in one use, up to a maximum of 1100 damage from a 4x Multicast. You can use it to stun threats or hope for a Multicast when using it for damage.

Ignite[edit]

Dota 2 ogre magi ignite.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Duration: 5 / 6 / 7 / 8
  • Burn Damage: 26 / 34 / 42 / 50
  • Slow: 20% / 22% / 24% / 26%
  • Mana Cost: 95 / 105 / 115 / 125
  • Cooldown: 15

Ignite causes the target to combust, making them take damage over time and getting slowed. It is a decent followup to Fireburst, letting you do additional damage and slowing them so that you can catch up and finish them off. Multicast makes it a good AoE spell, letting you do damage to groups of enemies in teamfights.

Bloodlust[edit]

Dota 2 ogre magi bloodlust.png
  • Ability: Auto-Cast, Target Unit
  • Affects: Allied Heroes
  • Duration: 30
  • Move Speed: 10% / 12% / 14% / 16%
  • Attack Speed: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50
  • Mana Cost: 75
  • Cooldown: 20

Bloodlust increases the movement speed and attack speed of an allied unit. It is a pretty basic buff that should be used on strong physical damage-dealers like carries and semi-carries. Multicast lets you buff up multiple heroes near the target, which helps make your whole team stronger.

Multicast[edit]

Dota 2 ogre magi multicast.png
  • Ability: Passive
  • Fireblast Mana Increase: 30 / 70 / 110
  • Fireblast Cooldown Reduction: 2 / 4 / 6
  • Ignite Radius: 150 / 300 / 450
  • Ignite Cast Range Increase: 150 / 300 / 450
  • Bloodlust Radius: 575
  • Bloodlust Cooldown Reduction: 5 / 10 / 15
  • 2x Chance: 25% / 40% / 50%
  • 3x Chance: 0% / 20% / 25%
  • 4x Chance: 0% / 0% / 12.5%

Multicast gives you a chance to cast multiple instances of a spell, making them more powerful. Fireblast will cost more mana but gets a lower cooldown. Ignite is able to affect enemies near the target as well as having a cast range increase, and can also affect automatically target other enemy units with an active multicast. Bloodlust also has a chance to grant the buff to multiple allies near the target. It's the defininf spell of Ogre Magi, but remember that no matter how powerful it makes your spells, it still requires a percentage-chance to proc, so try not to rely on it.

Aghanim's Scepter can be bought by Ogre Magi and will give him the ability Unrefined Fireburst.

Unrefined Fireblast[edit]

Dota 2 ogre magi unrefined fireblast.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Magical
  • Damage: 275
  • Stun Duration: 1.5
  • Mana Cost: 60% of current mana
  • Cooldown: 6

Unrefined Fireblast does the same damage and stun as a level 4 Fireblast, but costs much more mana. It is also affected by Multicast and doesn't share cooldowns with Fireblast. The reason you want to use it is for the chance to get additional Multicasts after the first Fireblast. It can do up to 2200 damage if you get a 4x multicast on both Fireblasts, but that's extremely unlikely. If you'd like to take a gamble with your mana, this spell, and the Aghanim's Scepter that gives it to you, should be something you aim to pick up.
