Lycanthrope, commonly shortened to just Lycan, is a melee strength hero that can play the role of a jungler, a carry or a pusher. He can Summon Wolves to fight with him, overwhelming his enemies. He can let out a loud Howl that boosts his and his allies' damage. His Feral Impulse makes him a faster and deadlier attacker, which will influence his summons. Of course, Lycanthrope isn't just a fancy title. He can willingly Shapeshift into a deadly wolf, greatly enhancing his caombat capabilities.

Abilities[edit]

Summon Wolves[edit]

Dota 2 lycanthrope summon wolves.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Duration: 55
  • Mana Cost: 145
  • Cooldown: 30

Summon Wolves summons 2 wolves to fight for you. These wolves are very helpful when you're jungling, as they increase your damage output without needing you to get close. The wolves are also much faster than you normally, so they can chase down enemies you can't catch up to. Once they get to level 4, the wolves can also be used to scout, and if you decide to go for a kill, an enemy will easily be caught by surprise if you initiate it with your invisible wolves. These wolves will also benefit from you other abilities, so make note of that.

Lycan Wolf
HP 200 / 240 / 280 / 320
Damage 18 / 29 / 37 / 46
Armor 1
Magic Resistance 80%
Move Speed 400 / 420 / 440 / 460
Sight Range 1200)/(800)
Attack Range 90
Base Attack Time 1.25 / 1.2 / 1.15 / 1.1
Bounty 21 / 26 / 36 / 41
Abilities Passive: Critical Strike - Gives a 30% chance to do 150% damage on each attack. Only available from level 2 onwards.
Passive: Invisibility: - Stays invisible when not attacking. Has a 3 second fade time after attacking before the invisibility returns. Only available after level 3.
Passive: Regeneration: - Regenerates 15 HP per second. Only available at level 4.

Howl[edit]

Dota 2 lycanthrope howl.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Duration: 12
  • Hero Bonus Damage: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50
  • Minion Bonus Damage: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20
  • Mana Cost: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30
  • Cooldown: 50 / 45 / 40 / 35

Howl will increase the damage of not only you, but also every ally and your summoned units across the whole map. Naturally if used at the right times it can be pretty powerful. It is best activated during a teamfight or a push, where the extra damage will be most helpful.

Feral Impulse[edit]

Dota 2 lycanthrope feral impulse.png
  • Ability: Passive
  • Radius: 900
  • Bonus Attack Speed: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30
  • Bonus Damage: 15% / 20% / 25% / 30%

Feral Impulse increases the attack speed and damage of you and your summoned units. A simple passive that makes you and your wolves much more scary.

Shapeshift[edit]

Dota 2 lycanthrope shapeshift.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Duration: 18
  • Base Attack Time: 1.5
  • Critical Chance: 30%
  • Critical Damage: 170%
  • Bonus HP: 100 / 200 / 300
  • Bonus Night Vision: 1000
  • Bonus Armor: 2

Shapeshift turns you into a wolf, making you and all summoned units move at maximum speed and cannot be slowed. It also grants you bonus hp and armor, gives you improved vision at night and gives you a passive critical strike ability similar to your wolves. Arguably the best self-buff ultimates in the game, you can use it to break down towers, shred enemies and chase down any fleeing foe.
