Chen is a ranged intelligence hero who is usually played as a jungler, a ganker and a support. He can use Holy Persuasion to convert even the strongest creeps to his side. His Penitence will fill his enemies with guilt, slowing them down and making them more vulnerable. His Test of Faith will do random damage to an enemy, while being able to warp allies back to the fountain. His ultimate, Hand of God, is a powerful spell that heals every ally on the map.

Abilities[edit]

Penitence[edit]

Dota 2 chen penitence.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Duration: 7
  • Slow: 8% / 16% / 24% / 32%
  • Bonus Damage: 8% / 16% / 24% / 32%
  • Mana Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 14

Penitence slows the targeted enemy as well as causing the enemy to take more damage. It is a good disable good for focusing and chasing down foes.

Test of Faith[edit]

Dota 2 chen test of faith.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemy Heroes
  • Damage Type: Pure
  • Min Damage: 50 / 100 / 150 / 200
  • Max Damage: 100 / 200 / 300 / 400
  • Mana Cost: 175
  • Cooldown: 24

Test of Faith does random damage to the targeted unit. The damage dealt is pure damage, which ignores armor and magic resistance. It truly is a test of faith, since you can either do a ton of damage or too little damage to matter, but its nevertheless a powerful damage nuke for most of the game.

Test of Faith Teleport[edit]

Dota 2 chen teleport.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Allied Heroes
  • Hero TP Delay: 6 / 5 / 4 / 3
  • Mana Cost: 200
  • Cooldown: 24

Test of Faith also has a sub-ability that teleports an ally back to the fountain after a short delay, having no delay if used on your converted creeps. It doesn't share cooldowns with Test of Faith itself, though since it costs 200 mana, you must learn to use it judiciously. A teleport used at the right time, however, could save an important allied hero.

Holy Persuasion[edit]

Dota 2 chen holy persuasion.png
  • Ability: Target Unit
  • Affects: Enemies
  • Max Units: 1 / 1 / 2 / 3
  • Bonus Health: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300
  • Mana Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 30 / 26 / 22 / 18

Holy Persuasion converts a neutral or enemy creep to your side, giving it bonus health. Unlike Enchantress' Enchant, the creeps you convert stays with you forever until they die. The extra health also helps you keep your creeps alive.

Hand of God[edit]

Dota 2 chen hand of god.png
  • Ability: No Target
  • Heal: 200 / 300 / 400
  • Mana Cost: 200 / 300 / 400
  • Cooldown: 160 / 140 / 120
  • Scepter Cooldown: 30

Hand of God heals every allied hero on the map and fully restores your converted creeps. It can be an extremely useful tool during teamfights, turning a losing battle into a victory.

Aghanim's Scepter can be bought by Chen and will reduce the cooldown of Hand of God.
