Chapter 7: Heroic

Elegy of the Moon

Encore
Backtrack to Baroque through the portal, Mt. Rock etc. Warp back to Baroque and backtrack to Sharp Mountains to play Score Piece 25 with Quack Ukelele for a Rank A and a Gold Moon for Polka. Then backtrack to play Score Piece 26 in Forte City Inn with Henpecked Phil's Dad for a Rank A and a Silver Star for Allegretto.

Note: PS3 Versions get control of Prince Crescendo and Serenade again till the end of the game. After you jump through the creepy looking portal, go forward for another cutscene. The blue light on the left is a merchant. Buy a Golden Parasol for Polka, a Lugh Lamhfhada for Viola, a Celestial Gloves for Falsetto, a Langya Bang for Cresendo, and a Arcana Wand for Serenade. Buy 4 Fragments for Allegretto, Beat, March, and Jazz; 2 Concealing Jackets for Polka and Salsa; and a Crescent Cloak for Frederic; and 3 Transeos for Viola, Falsetto, and Serenade.

The barrel west of the stairs contains a Shining Tail. On the east side of the stairs the pot under the umbrella contains a Dark Tail. Go up the stairs and follow the path to Elegy of the Moon: West.

Encore
Play Score Piece 28 with Glamorous Oboe (the red light by the entrance to Xylophone Tower) to obtain an EZI Bun.

Speak with the red bubble here for a short cutscene. You will pass a save point. At the end of the path search the stuff at the end for a Rainbow EZI. Head north to exit.

Encore
Play Score Piece 19 at Cabasa Bridge North Side with Disappointed Note to get Score Piece 32. Due to Cabasa Bridge by Fort Fermata being broken, one must backtrack from Forte through Hanon Hills and Fort Fermata to reach the north side of the broken bridge. Chapter 7 only.

Head north and speak with Trio. Read the directions and if you forget the order here it is: Bb, G, F, G. The stairs should appear if you did right. If not, talk to Trio and try again. Go up the stairs to the east to get to Xylophone Tower: First Floor - Spiral. Follow the stairs all the way to Xylophone Tower: First Floor - Landing. Head east for a chest containing a Mist Cape, armor for Polka, Salsa, or March. Following the same circle that the chest rests on head west to get to the save point. Go up the stairs to Xylophone Tower: Second Floor.

Speak with Quartet in the center and basically it is the same as before and then some added. The sequence is as follows: Bb, G, F, G, F, Eb, Bb, G, C, High C. The stairs should appear if done correctly. If not, repeat the process. Follow the stairs to the east to Xylophone Tower: Second Floor - Spiral. Follow the path to Xylophone Tower: Second Floor - Landing. Head west around the bend for a chest containing a Ruthless. Then follow the other circular path back east for a chest containing a Alice's Watch. Follow the same easterly path to a save point and stairs. Save your game and go up the stairs to Xylophone Tower: Third Floor.

Speak with Quintet for the next challenge. Here is the sequence: Bb, G, F, G, F, Eb, Bb, G, C, High C, G, High Bb, High Ab. Stairs will open to the right. Go up the stairs to Xylophone Tower: Third Floor - Spiral and beat the enemies that block the path. Follow it up to Xylophone Tower: Third Floor - Landing. Follow the path all the way around for a Nidhogg's Fang, a weapon for Allegretto. Go back to the first intersection and follow the path to the northwest to get to the save point and stairs. Get your characters ready and save the game. Go up the stairs to the Xylophone Tower: Top Floor. Go north for a cutscene and battle.

Ogre King and Wicked Shrub
Kill the Wicked Shrub first because it has regenerative properties and can bring back the Ogre King too. Again, make sure you have a healer, build your echos, and use your harmony chains. The Ogre King will try to heal himself when he is getting near death. This is a relatively long battle but not too difficult if you follow the pattern.

The Ogre King drops Eye of Horus, Thiassi's Bone, and a Tyr's Left Arm. Note: PS3 Versions get a Tyrant's Crown instead of the Left Arm.

Noise Dunes

Before entering the Noise Dunes, return to the merchant from the beginning and make sure you restock on anything you may need. Enter Noise Dunes: Entrance and talk to the Elder once more before going through where the barrier used to be.

Note: For PS3 Versions entering Noise Dunes, immediately head west for a chest containing a Sage's Staff, a weapon for Serenade. In Noise Dunes, head north till you get to some pavement and slightly to the east is a chest with a Voiceless Scepter for Frederic. Return to the pavement and head southwest for a chest with a Wheel of Will for March. Continue west off the map to return to the east side of Noise Dunes, and head west off the map two more times. Doing so will cause you to arrive at Noise Dunes: Oasis. Located here is the Hero's Gate, the entrance to Mysterious Unison dungeon which will not be accessible until the end of the game or on Encore as Hero's Crest will be in your inventory. Head north to the gate and to the east side is a path north to a chest containing a Tyrant's Crown. Note: PS3 Versions will obtain a Tyr's Left Arm.

Return to Noise Dunes and travel north to enter Noise Dunes: Tower Entrance. Head North to the Double Reed Tower entrance and talk to the 4 heads who will ask about Goro. Return South to talk to more 2 heads and then head south east again to talk to another head. Play Score Piece 10 to Desolate Saburo for a Rank A and a Shadow Helm and play Score Piece 13 for a Rank B and a Chapel EZI. Continue north to the tower.

Double Reed Tower of Sand

West Tower

Save your game. Head west till the two magenta trails off into two directions: north and south. Take the northern one to get to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Second Floor. Note: PS3 Versions can find the Cerebrus Canine to the east on the second floor rather than on the third floor. Head south and follow the magenta path up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Third Floor. Don't use the magenta path heading up. Walk north around the circular path for a save point and keep going around for the magenta path leading up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Fourth Floor. Note: PS3 Versions can go to the south for a chest containing a White Star, a new weapon for Crescendo. Then take the magenta path leading up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Fifth Floor. Head around to the next magenta path leading up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Sixth Floor. Head east and take the magenta path leading down to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Fifth Floor. There is a chest to the west containing a Storm Shroud. Return to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Sixth Floor. Go up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Seventh Floor. Get your characters ready and save your game. Go south for the first boss fight.

Hidden One
Use the same pattern: echos, harmony chains, and keep a healer. This fight is very similar to the Ogre King except he doesn't use healing.

Hidden One drops Tyr's Right Arm.

You may want to save your game again so you don't have to worry about one more boss. Back track back to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Third Floor. Go around the bend and save your game. Keep following the path and then go up the magenta path to Double Reed Tower: West Tower - Fourth Floor. Head south and take the magenta path at the end to go up to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Fifth Floor. Go up the next magenta path to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Sixth Floor. Follow the path around to two more magenta paths. Follow the one down to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Fifth Floor. The chest contains a Spade Clover. Return to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Sixth Floor. Go up the magenta path this time to get to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – Seventh Floor. Get your characters ready and save your game. Then go north for another boss fight.

Herculean Boar
Use the same pattern: echos, harmony chains, and keep a healer. He does have a strong charge but just block them. You shouldn't have much of a problem especially if you took out the last two without problems. Remember you can always go down through the levels to level your characters up more if you have any trouble.

Herculean Boar drops Lech Armor.

Return to the save point and save your game. Then back track to Double Reed Tower: West Tower – First Floor. Save your game near the Entrance. Before moving on, think about how many times that you have needed to revive a teammate. If you are dying a lot and running low on supplies, you may want to consider making a short trip back into town to restock. This would be a good time to do it since you are already on ground level. If you are good and want to move on then follow the path to the east to get to Double Reed Tower: East Tower - First Floor.

East Tower

Follow the path to two magenta paths and take the one going up to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Second Floor. Head all the way south for a chest containing a Teardrop Umbrella. Go up the magenta path to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Third Floor. Head north around the bend to get to a save point and then another magenta path that takes you up to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fourth Floor. Follow the path around for a chest containing a Daybreak Cloak. Then go back up the magenta path to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fifth Floor. The go up the magenta path to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Sixth Floor. Follow the path and use the magenta path leading down to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fifth Floor for a chest containing a Lech Blade, a new weapon for Allegretto. Return to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Sixth Floor. Then use the magenta path to go up to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Seventh Floor. Get your characters and item set ready and save you game. Head south for the next boss fight.

White Jewel
Use the same pattern: echos, harmony chains, and keep a healer. This guy is stronger and and can do some serious damage with a single hit. He has the ability to affect your mobility. You shouldn't have too much problems if you didn't with the last couple.

White Jewel drops a Alvis Hoop.

Save your game and back track to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Third Floor. Follow the path around to the save point and go up the magenta path leading to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fourth Floor. Follow the path to the south and use the magenta path leading up to the Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fifth Floor. Follow the path and use the magenta path leading up to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Sixth Floor. Follow the path down to the two magenta paths. Head down to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Fifth Floor for a chest containing a Nodus, a weapon for Salsa, however it is not recommended for use. Return to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Sixth Floor. Take the magenta path up to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – Seventh Floor. Get your characters ready and your item set and save your game. Go north for the next boss battle.

Unrest & Fire Antiques
Use the same pattern: echos, harmony chains, and keep a healer. This guy is not much trouble but he has partners. Go for the big guy first since he has the ability to bring back his friends. Like the last one, your mobility can be affected by this boss. You shouldn't have too much problems if you didn't with the last several from this area.

Unrest drops a Tyrant Slayer.

Save your game and back track to Double Reed Tower: East Tower – First Floor. Go down to Double Reed Tower: Base. If you had come this way before, then you would know that it ended after a short distance but now that we have defeated all of the bosses the sand has now filled the area allowing us to go down this way. Keep following the magenta path and then up the stairs. Go to the warp tile.

Hourglass Road

Get your characters and item set ready. Open the chest for a Spade Clover. Save your game. Head north and enter the double doors to get to Top Floor: Core. Head north for the boss battle.

Count Waltz & Ruined Body
Use the same pattern: echos, harmony chains, and keep a healer. The 32-count Echos are the best here. He really isn't as tough as he looks. If you don't block, you could lose a lot of HP so it is risky to try to counter. Make sure to keep everyone's health up because he does pack quite a punch. He will start to heal himself when he is near death. And you have battled Count Waltz before so you should have an idea of what to expect. Focus on Count Waltz first since he is harder to block and try to position yourself so that your back is not to anyone.

Count Waltz drops Velmungdd's Lust & Hero's Crest.

Get your characters and item set ready. For the next fight, Frederic will not be available so make sure your top three picks picked out. Save your game. Backtrack to Noise Dunes for more quests or go through the portal for the final fight and to end the game.

He packs quite a punch but if you keep at him and keep everyone healed you should be alright. Same patterns as before: build echos, use harmonies, and use your healer. Don't worry about counterattacks because if you miss a block it will take a lot out of you.

Basement Level 1

Take the portal down to Basement Level 1 - Area 1 - Section 3. Head northeast to the crossroads, take the northwest (left) path to Basement Level 1 - Area 2 - Section 2. Then around the corner to Basement Level 1 - Area 3 - Section 2. Then west (left) to Basement Level 1 - Area 3 - Section 1 for a chest containing a Titania's Bow, a weapon for Viola. Return to main path, and follow it around to Basement Level 1 - Area 4 - Section 2 then around the corner to Basement Level 1 - Area 4 - Section 3. Then, turn to the north (right) to reach Basement Level 1 - Area 5 - Section 3 for a chest containing a Soul Shard. Back track to the main path and continue to follow it to get to Basement Level 1 - Area 2 - Section 3 where we were before. This time, we are going to go northeast (take a right) towards the unmoving dragon. Onto the portal and proceed to Basement Level 2 - Area 3 - Section 2.

Basement Level 2

Hint: There is only one save point in Mysterious Unison so you must use the portal that you just arrived on and subsequent floor entrance portals to return to the entrance to save. Then you can use the portal at the end of the path in Mysterious Unison:Well of Souls to return to the Basement Level you ended with.

Follow the path northeast until you come to a junction, take the northwest (left) route to get to Basement Level 2 - Area 4 - Section 1. Note: PS3 Versions can find a chest at the end of the east route containing a Power Staff, a new weapon for Serenade. Continue to Basement Level 2 - Area 3 - Section 1 and then keep following the path for a chest containing a Iron Gloves, a weapon for Falsetto. This weapon creates a slow affect so it is not recommended for use. Return to the Basement Level 2 - Area 2 - Section 1 and turn at east path (on the right) that you just passed that goes into Basement Level 2 - Area 2 - Section 2. Turn north at the first northern path (first right) and follow it around the corner to Basement Level 2 - Area 2 - Section 4. Take the second northern path up ahead for a chest containing a Pervius, a weapon for March. Back track to Basement Level 2 - Area 2 - Section 4 where you passed the first northern path. Take that path to the boss battle so make sure you have your item set and characters ready. next warp.

Deep Lurker
He packs quite a punch and is fast but if you keep at him and keep everyone healed you should be alright. Same patterns as before: build echos, use harmonies, and use your healer. Don't worry about counterattacks because if you miss a block it will take a lot out of you.

Deep Lurker drops the 2nd Soul Shard. Go to the warp and down to the next level to Basement Level 3 - Area 4 - Section 1.

Basement Level 3 and 4

Note: For PS3 Versions there is a chest in Basement Level 3 - Area 2 - Section 1 which is all the way down the southwest path and contains a Morgenstern, a weapon for Crescendo. Back track some and take the east path that you just passed and follow it all the way for the next warp to Basement Level 4 - Area 1 - Section 1. Follow the path all the way around until you get to the split in which you will take the west path for a Score Piece 23. Return to the main path and continue down for the next warp to take you to Basement Level 3 - Area 1 - Section 5. Follow the path all the way north and around the corner to the west for another Soul Shard. Then return to the main path back tracking to the west path that you had passed earlier. Follow it all the way down for another warp to get to Basement Level 4 - Area 1 - Section 2. Go straight ahead for the next warp to get to Basement Level 5 - Area 1 - Section 6.

Basement Level 5

Follow the path and then take the northeast route at the split. Then go west at the first turnoff and then the northeastern turnoff at the four-way for a chest containing a Nagul Fang, a weapon for Beat. Return to the four way intersection and take the southwest option. Then take the first west turnoff and then south for a chest containing an Athena's Shield. Note: Athena's Shield has been renamed Athena's Tear in PS3 Versions. Return to the main path and follow it west and around to the next split. Take the northeast path for the next portal. It will take you to Basement Level 6 - Area 1 - Section 1.

Basement Level 6

Follow the path till you get to the first split. Mute, the red floater to the north just wants you to pay an outrageous amount of money for a shower or to eat so no need to mess with him unless you have a large chunk of change. Not only that but he has a Soul Shard that you can buy for 99,999,999 G which you have to earn by defeating the monsters throughout the levels. Select 'Eat' to buy the Soul Shard from Mute. If you don't have the money now, make sure you return to this level when you do. The northern option takes you to an opened chest so don't bother with it. Follow the southern route for a warp to Basement Level 7 - Area 1 - Section 3.

Basement Level 7

Hint: The dead ends of this section sends you to a new location so it is easy to get lost here so pay careful attention to the directions and should be fine. Otherwise, take careful notes of the locations and directions to find your way to the warp. Follow the path to the first intersection. Continue straight along the path until you get to a dead end. Take the east path to the third intersection. On the third one, you will go north for a portal that will take you to Basement Level 8 - Area 1 - Section 2.

Basement Level 8 and 9

This section is a lot like Basement Level 3 and 4 but there are more warps so follow carefully. Go straight ahead for a chest containing a Nil Coat. Return to the intersection you just passed and go north to another intersection. Take the south east option for a warp to take you to Basement Level 9 - Area 2 - Section 4. Follow the path south, turn north-west then north-east for a chest containing an Azure Umbrella, a weapon for Polka. Return to the intersection and head all the way south-east before going north to a portal to get to Basement Level 8 - Area 2 - Section 5.

Go north to the intersection and then turn west. Follow the path for the next warp to Basement Level 9 - Area 4 - Section 4. Follow the path south. There will be two paths: east and west. East takes you to a chest containing a Dragon Armor. After you collect that, take the west path to get to the next portal to get to Basement Level 8 - Area 3 - Section 3. Head south to the four-way intersection. Take the north-west path to a portal to get to Basement Level 9 - Area 2 - Section 2.

Follow the path all the way around to the next portal to get to Basement Level 8 - Area 3 - Section 2. Follow the path around and to the north for the next portal to get to Basement Level 9 - Area 4 - Section 1. Follow the path north and turn south-east at the first intersection. Follow it all the way around for Score Piece 24. Return to the main path and continue north around to the next portal to get to Basement Level 8 - Area 6 - Section 2. Remember if you haven't been killing all the enemies, you should probably get in as many as possible. Remember you need quite a bit of gold to purchase that Soul Shard.

Follow the path all the way around to the next intersection. Go east rather than south for a chest containing a Seven-Branched, a weapon for Allegretto. Return to the intersection and take the south path for the next portal. It will warp you to Basement Level 9 - Area 4 - Section 3. Head straight north to the next warp to get to Basement Level 8 - Area 6 - Section 3. At the next intersection, head south-west for a Soul Shard. Return to the intersection and follow the path back to the north-west to portal to the 9th floor. Follow the path to the intersection and take the east path for the next portal to get to Basement Level 10 - Area 6 - Section 1.

Basement Level 10

On this level there are actually multiple different ways that you can go. Just about at every dead end there is an item or a portal taking you to the next level. For 360 versions there should only be two dead ends that are empty and for PS3 versions those are actually filled with a chest. Before you take the portal to the next level, you will want to get all of the items so you may want to stick to the guide.

At the first intersection, go southwest rather than straight. Don't turn at the next intersection and continue on for a chest containing a Peacock Dress. Now go back to the intersection that you just passed, turn southeast, and follow that to the next intersection. Take the southwest path passing another intersection like before to a chest containing a Nemesis Sword, a weapon for Claves. Return to the second intersection and take the east path until it dead ends and then turn north for a chest containing Freudhersch, a weapon for Frederic. Note: PS3 Versions can go back to the intersection you just passed and go west and then north for a chest containing a Royal Staff, a new weapon for Crescendo. Return to the intersection and return south and then continue to follow the path east and then north to a chest containing a Alfheim, a weapon for Salsa. You may not want to equip it though cause the one you have now should be better.

Head all the way south and then go west and turn south at the first intersection. Go all the way south for a chest containing a Skofnung, a weapon for Jazz. Turn east at the first intersection you passed. Head south at the next intersection. Note" PS3 Versions should follow the path all the way for a chest containing a Mirror Shield for Crescendo. Then go east and then south at the next intersection for a chest containing a Niflheim, a weapon for March. You may also not want to equip this one since her current one is better. Return to the intersection and follow the path all the way east for a chest containing a Cupid's Head, an accessory for Viola. Go back and turn north at the first intersection you come across. Head all the way north for a chest containing a Best Lot, an accessory for Beat. Return south to the first intersection and make a west turn and then north at the next intersection. Head all the way north.

Basement Level 11

Head west at the first intersection and then take your first south option for a chest containing a Achilles's Armor. Return to the main path and continue west and then north around the corner. Follow it up all the way and then turn east and then north. Head west for a chest containing a Lord's Reign, a weapon for Falsetto. Head all the way east and then south to a four-way intersection. Go west for a chest containing a Solomon's Ring. Return to the intersection and take the east path all the way and then south all the way down. Then turn west and then north around the corner for a chest containing a Retaliator, a weapon for Claves. Return south and then take the east route at the first intersection. Go all the way and then turn north all the way.

Rondo
Rondo is much stronger this go round but fairly easy to beat since you are also much stronger. Most of her moves are easy to block but there are few counters available. Just continue with the same routine by building your echos and using your harmony chains. Frederic is recommended or another healer and then choose your favorite characters. Frederic is the better healer because he builds echos quickly.

Basement Level 12

Hint: If you go back to Basement Level 6 to buy the Soul Shard before playing this level, then you should be able to make up for the loss of gold during this level.

Follow the path and at the first intersection go north and around the corner to the east. At the next intersection, go south for a chest containing a Sheol Sword, a weapon for Allegretto. Turn around and follow the path all the way north for a chest containing a Score Piece 25. Go back to the last four-way intersection that you just past and take the path west. Follow it all the way around to a three-way intersection. Take the west path for a chest containing a Bezwell's Sword, a weapon for Jazz. Return to the three-way intersection and take the east path. Follow it all the way around to the next portal to Mysterious Unison: The Final Level.

Final Floor

Get your characters ready and your item set and go straight ahead.

Annihilator
He packs quite a punch but most of his attacks are easy enough to block. Make sure you have a healer and someone that can build those echos. Use the same strategies as before: build echos and use your harmony chains.

Annihilator drops the last Soul Shard. Step onto the portal to return to the entrance. Return to the Hourglass Road and go through the portal.

Note: PS3 Versions only. When you finish with Mysterious Unison, backtrack to Sharp Mountains: Base. Take the left path towards an enemy looking at a weird statue. Kill it and check out the statue for the entrance to The Church of EZI dungeon. There are a few powerful items within. At the end of the dungeon is the EZI boss. Defeating the boss will add the Scrapbook icon to the party menu.
