Polka[edit]

A young girl from Tenuto Village, whose terminal illness means she has the ability to heal others with magic. Despite being persecuted for possessing magic, she encounters Frederic and, after meeting him, resolves to go to Forte to ask why Floral Power is taxed so high but not Mineral Powder, not realizing just how involved in the world's problems she will become. Her name comes from the traditional dance.

A street rat living in Ritardando with his friend, Beat, he steals food for the starving children of the town. After contemplating the injustice of the high taxes placed on everything (except Mineral Powder), he resolves to go to Forte to learn the reason. His name describes a rather fast tempo in music.

An orphaned kid who starts working with Allegretto, he seems to have a little trouble with names (despite his claims otherwise). He is also never without the camera he got from his late father. His name describes the rhythm which is an integral part of playing music.
Note: Beat can attack from a distance because of his gun. Beat's distance attacks are auto-aiming.

Frederic[edit]

As he lies dying of tuberculosis in the real world, Frederic Chopin dreams of the world in which Eternal Sonata takes place. He encounters Polka, who he later reveals has a remarkable resemblance to someone he knew. Throughout the journey, Frederic asks himself his purpose for being in the dream world. Like Polka, he has the gift of magic. Frederic acts as the famous Polish composer and pianist, who had in real life written many beautiful songs.

Viola[edit]

A plain-spoken goat herder from the Chorus Plains, she and her pet Arco join the group seeking to put a stop to the madness caused by Forte after people mutated by Mineral Powder attack her home. Her name refers to an instrument belonging in the string family, much like a violin only a little larger and with a lower tonal range. Arco refers to a technique used with a string bow.
Note: Viola can attack from a distance because of her bow. Viola's distance attacks require initial manual aiming (holding Attack until the reticle is on target, then releasing).

Salsa[edit]

One of the twin guardians of Agogo Forest, the sassy Salsa traveled to Forte to demand they stop mining Mt. Rock, only to be thrown in jail and rescued by Allegretto and company. Salsa has a great fondness for hats. Her name comes from the energetic Latin American dance.

The leader of Andantino, a rebel group dedicated to toppling the reign of Count Waltz. His name comes from the music genre.

Falsetto[edit]

One of Jazz's lieutenants in Andantino, she and Jazz have known each other for years. Her unique dress is because she is a martial artist. Her name describes singing at a high pitched note, which women are easier at than men.

The other of Jazz's lieutenants in Andantino. Highly suspected (especially by Falsetto) to be romantically involved with Jazz…and perhaps not entirely loyal to Andantino. Her name describes an instrument in the percussion family: a pair of short thick dowels which are rhythmically struck together to produce sound.

Salsa's purple-haired twin, as polite as Salsa is sassy, but just as determined to stop the production of Mineral Powder. Her name comes a genre of music known for its emphasis on consistent and pronounced rhythm and commonly used to coordinate movement in a formation.

Crescendo[edit]

  • Age: 29 years
  • Origin: Baroque
  • Weapon: Maces

The young prince of Baroque. Crescendo replaces his father for leading Baroque into the future war between Forte due to a sickness his father is suffering on. He rescues Polka, Beat, Frederic, and Salsa after they fell into Adagio River. Crescendo is only playable in the PS3 version. His name describes the musical term for gradually increasing the volume of the music.

Serenade[edit]

  • Age: 23 years
  • Origin: Forte
  • Weapon: Staves

Related to the kingdom of Forte by blood but engaged to Prince Crescendo of Baroque. Count Waltz is counting on her to lead Prince Crescendo towards certain decisions but she thinks she is working to establish peaceful relations between the kingdoms. Serenade is only playable in the PS3 version. Her name describes a complimentary performance given to honor or express love for someone.

Captain Dolce[edit]

Captain Dolce is the ferocious leader of a band of pirates, and Captain of her own pirate ship. Her name originates from a type of vocal tune that is of singing softly and sweetly.

Count Waltz[edit]

The leader of the country of Forte, and the driving force behind the production of mineral powder. His name comes from the traditional folk dance with its distinctive three-to-the-bar tempo.

Fugue[edit]

One of Count Waltz's lieutenants, sent to the Agogo Forest to track down rumors of "glowing Agogos" that could significantly boost the power of Mineral Powder. His name describes a contrapuntal composition in two or more voices, built on a subject/theme that is introduced at the beginning in imitation and recurs frequently in the course of the composition.

Tuba[edit]

Captain of the Forte Castle guards. Powerful but not too bright. His name comes from the huge instrument of the brass family.

Rondo[edit]

Another of Count Waltz's lieutenants, she takes over after Fugue's defeat and learns of the key to drawing out the glowing Agogos. Her name describes a word that has been used in music in a number of ways, most often in reference to a musical form, but also to a character-type that is distinct from the form.
