Etrian Odyssey/Loot

Instead of monsters dropping money when defeated they sometimes drop loot. More specifically loot is either a part of the monster itself or something it would naturally be carrying with it (Ant Honey for example). Another manner of gaining loot is by using specific skills used for harvesting items at item points (these spaces sparkle when you look at them). The skills are: Chop, Mine, and Take.

These items can be sold at Shilleka's Goods in town. This is the main way en (the currency of the land) is earned by adventurers. When enough of a certain piece of loot is sold new items will become available for purchase. (Note that if the new item is medicinal it will be available at Ceft Apothecary instead.) Often the first of any piece of loot is sold will result in new items becoming available.

There are many quests that require certain pieces of loot or special items that exist only because that quest has been taken. It is wise to try to remember what drops what to help make quests easier to finish.
