The technology screen is accessed by clicking on the gears icon at the top. It presents a list of five characters assigned to each research field, along with the total number of yearly research points.

Research points are determined by the number of Citizens in a given province, and can be increased depending on the character in the Civic technology role. Additionally, some government types may have a position that also increases research.

Characters in these offices office:

  • Give +1 senate influence per point of Charisma (for republics only)
  • Give a +10% bonus to research rate of their office per point of finesse.

Land[edit]

Characters in this office:

  • Provide +1% land organization and -3% siege time per point of martial
  • Personally receive +0.5 wealth per month, +0.25 prominence per month, and +30 prominence.

Naval[edit]

Characters in this office:

  • Provide +1% naval organization and +1.3% blocade efficiency per point of martial.
  • Personally receive +0.5 wealth per month, +0.25 prominence per month, and +30 prominence.

Construction[edit]

Characters in this office:

  • Provide -1.5% build cost and -1.5% build time per point of charisma.
  • Personally receive +0.5 wealth per month, +0.25 prominence per month, and +30 prominence.

Civic[edit]

Characters in this office:

  • Provide +1.3% research points and +3.0% civilization value spread per point of charisma.
  • Personally receive +1 wealth per month, +0.33 prominence per month, and +50 prominence.

This position is important for republics, as characters who were formerly employed in this position may be assigned to lead armies.

Religious[edit]

Characters in this office:

  • Provide +1.5% omen success chance, -2.0 Omen failure penalty per point of charisma
  • Personally receive +0.7 wealth per month, +0.25 prominence per month, and +40 prominence.

If left without an omen, the high priest may automatically declare a random omen.

This position is important for republics, as characters who were formerly employed in this position may be assigned to lead armies.

Technology levels[edit]

Each of these five fields has a technology level, which is evenly researched. Although it may be possible to research things faster than normal, researching technologies ahead of their time causes a significant slowdown.
