Each character can equip up to two relics.

Character specific

The vast majority of relics can be equipped by any character. The following ones are exceptions.

Name User Effect Location (price)
Rage ring Umaro Umaro randomly attacks throwing an ally at opponents. Found in the cave in the veldt in the world of ruin.
Blizzard orb Umaro Umaro randomly casts Snowstorm. It can be found in the world of ruin in the ancient castle.
Bone wrist Umaro Increases all attributes. (GBA only)
Moogle charm Mog Avoids all random enemy encounters, must be equipped on Mog. Extremely useful for getting through tough areas without fighting monsters, or clearing out chests early. Found in the moogle cave where Mog stands initially in the world of ruin, in his sidequest.
Sneak ring Locke, Gogo Doubles the success rate of Locke's Steal command. Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Thief glove Locke, Gogo Changes Locke's Steal command into Capture. Performs steal and fight together. Attempts to steal four times when paired with the offering. Can be found in a chest in Zozo in either world.
Coin toss Setzer, Gogo Changes Setzer's Slots command into GP Rain.
Fake moustache Relm, Gogo Changes Relm's Sketch command into control, which lets you pick an attack for the monster to do. Can be found in the world of ruin inside the Zone eater.
Memento ring Relm, Shadow Protects against zombie, stone, death, and many fatal attacks. Only Shadow and Relm can equip this, and it's hinted that it's because of the dead love of Relm's mother/Shadow's wife. Relm starts with this and a second one can be found in Strago's house, second floor, on the left wall.
Princess/Czarina ring Relm, Terra, Celes Doubles physical and magical defense when Health Points are low.

Field effect

The effect of these relics is activated outside battles only.

Name Effect Location (price)
Sprint Shoes Double walking speed in towns and dungeons. Can be bought everywhere.
Tintinabar Recovers HP with each step. Is part of the exp egg sequence at the Coliseum where you keep trading the result of trading elixirs, and can be obtained by performing well for the emperor at the banquet and sending all the letters for the soldier in Mobliz, both in the world of balance.
Charm Bangle Lowers the rate of random encounters. It can be found in the world of balance by performing well for the emperor, or traded for in the Coliseum.

Preventing status ailments

All these relics permanently grant the wearer immunity to some status ailments.

Name Effect Location (price)
Star Pendant Prevents poison. Can be bought in both worlds.
Goggles Prevents dark/blind (in the SNES version, this status does nothing). Can be bought in both worlds.
Jewel Ring Prevents petrify (it doesn't prevent dark/blind). Can be bought in both worlds.
Fairy Ring Prevents poison and dark/blind. Can be bought in both worlds.
Peace Ring Prevents beserk and muddle. Can be bought in both worlds.
Amulet Prevents poison, dark/blind and zombie. Can be bought in both worlds.
White Cape Prevents imp/kappa and mute; Def. +5, M.Def. +5, M.Evade +10%. Can be bought in both worlds.
Safety Bit Prevents instant-death, zombie, stone and death. Can be found in the world of ruin, or morphed from certain monsters using Ragnarok, including Lvl 60 and 90 magic.
Ribbon Prevents all status ailments except for Stop and Freeze. Very useful for uncursing the cursed shield. Can be found in both worlds and stolen from Brachosaurs most notably.

Improving status

All these relics permanently grant one beneficial status to the wearer.

Name Effect Location (price)
Mithril Glove Casts Safe when HP is low. Can be bought in both worlds.
Protect/Guard Ring Safe status (increase defense). Can be bought in the world of ruin.
Barrier Ring Casts Shell when HP is low (increase M.Defense). Can be bought in the world of balance and ruin.
Wall Ring Reflect status (reflects most magical attacks to the opposite party).
Can be useful for beating monsters with reflect by casting spells on your own party, or stopping all but unblockable magic attacks. A must have relic for the fanatic's tower.
Can be bought in both worlds.
Cherub Down Float status (immunity from earth-elemental spells). Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Running Shoes Haste status (increased battle speed). Can be bought in both worlds.
Cure Ring Regen status (progressively restores HP in battle). Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Relic Ring Undead status (healed by instant-defeat and drain spells; hurt by cure spells). Found in Owzer's house in the world of ruin.
Pod Bracelet Safe and shell statuses (increase defense and magic defense). Can be traded in the Coliseum for the Hero Ring, and found in the world of ruin.
Marvel Shoes Regen, haste, safe and shell statuses. Is part of the Exp Egg trading sequence, after the rename card and before the tintinabar. Continuously trade an elixir to get this.

Affecting attributes

All these relics increase one or more attributes of the wearer.

Name Effect Location (price)
Beads Evade +20%
(in the SNES version the evade attribute affects nothing).
It can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Zephyr Cape Evade +10%, M.Evade +10%.
Muscle Belt Max HP +50%. Stolen from Borras at Mt Zozo or won from the Skull Dragon.
Hyper Wrist Strength +50. Can be found in both worlds and bought in the world of ruin.
Sniper Sight Hit rate = 100%.
It makes killing Cactrots easy work.
Can be bought in both worlds.
Atlas Armlet Physical damage +50%.
Does not stack.
It can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Gauntlet Increases physical damage (holding a weapon with two hands). Not as useful as the genji glove. Can be found in the world of ruin, and obtained in the world of balance if you choose to have Terra join Banon right away.
Genji Glove Increases physical damage by equipping a second weapon instead of a shield. Very useful for dealing extra damage and very powerful if paired with the offering.
Cannot be used by Umaro.
The first can be found very early on: have Terra refuse to help Banon repeatedly until the game takes over.
Hero Ring Magic damage +25%, physical damage +25%.
Magic damage stacks.
Can be found in the world of balance and ruin, and is auctioned off in Jidoor for 50000 GP in the world of ruin.
Earrings Magic damage +25%; can be stacked. Can be bought in the world of balance and ruin.
Crystal Orb Max MP +50%. It can be traded for in the coliseum for a muscle belt.
Gold Hairpin Halves MP consumed (same as if Max MP +100%). Can be found in the world of ruin, traded for in the Coliseum, and obtained if you choose to sacrifice Mog in the world of balance (not wise: two of Mog's stronger dances are only available BEFORE the apocalypse).
Economizer It reduces all spellcasting costs to 1 (same as if MP was maximized).
Cannot be used by Umaro.
Can be won in the world of ruin from Brachosaurs in the dinosaur forest (north of the veldt), stolen from Aquilas in the phoenix cave, or traded in the Coliseum for a gem box.
Exp Egg Doubles experienced earned by the character. Does not stack. It can be obtained by completing a sidequest in Darril's Tomb, by betting an Elixir in the Coliseum and continuing to bet the next item until you get an Exp Egg (the last item bet in the sequence is a Tintinabar,) or by using the Ragnarok Esper on the Harpy monsters found on the Thamasa island in the World of Ruin (usually Ragnarok will display "Better off Tonic!" but occasionally it will show "Better off Exp. Egg!"). The last works best if the Harpy is low on health.

Affecting battle commands and actions

All these relics allow the wearer to perform extra actions in battle, or prevent opponents from performing some actions (alarm earring/back guard).

Name Effect Location (price)
Back Guard Prevents back attacks and pincer attacks. Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Gale Hairpin Raises pre-emptive attack rate. Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Black Belt Randomly counterattacks when attacked. Even more powerful if paired with the genji glove or offering. It can be bought in the world of balance or ruin.
Merit Award Allows any character to equip virtually any equipment. Extremely useful for powering up certain characters, allowing Gogo to use more skills, and increasing certain attributes beyond normal limits.
Cannot be used by Umaro, Gau, Gogo.
Must be found in the Colosseum by trading the cat hood or excalipoor (GBA exclusive), which can be bought at the auction house for 500000 gil.
Gem Box Allows the wearer to cast two spells in one turn.
Cannot be used by Umaro.
Can only be found in the fanatic's tower. Can be traded for an economizer in the coliseum, which certainly doesn't mean that you should.
Dragoon Boots Changes fight into Jump, which performs similarly to Kain's jump in FF4.
Cannot be used by Umaro.
Can be found in the world of balance and bought in the world of ruin.
Dragoon Horn When character jumps (through either Dragoon Boots or Palidor's Sonic Dive), he/she attacks randomly 2-4 times when landing.
Cannot be used by Umaro.
Can be found in the world of ruin or traded for in the Coliseum.
Offering Allows to attack four times and never miss. It can be combined with Genji Glove to attack eight times, or with Thief Glove to attempt to steal four times (you will lose whatever item after your first successful steal). No critical hits or spells cast by weapons are allowed and damage is half as strong as normal. Special exceptions: Fixed Dice, Dice's damage are not cut in half, Tempest's random Wind Slash still works and doesn't have its damage cut in half, Atma Weapon damage is not halved. Can only be found by fighting the Katana Soul in the ancient castle.
True Knight Covers party members with low HP. Can be bought in both worlds.
Cursed Ring Teaches the spell X-zone/Banish at a rate of 5, but inflicts Condemned status. Can be traded for in the Coliseum for a Cursed Shield.
