Ganbare Goemon 2/Stage 5: Kinki

The fifth stage of the game takes place in the region of Kinki. The Kinki region, also known as the Kansai region, lies in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshū. It also happens to be the home of Konami, and a special shop in this stage pays homage to that fact. This stage is peculiar for one particular reason: you are forced to purchase Passes in order to exit this level. For whatever reason, either due to an overlooked design flaw, or a bug in the programming, the Passes are not available in the two secret underground passages. While you can obtain one for free from the 3D maze, you'll have to save up enough for the other two, and buy them from the shop in Section 6.

Remember that in order to leave this stage, you should find the pass in the maze in Section 7, and purchase the remaining passes from the shop in Section 6.

Underground[edit]

The vertical underground passage connects the two hidden staircases in Sections 1 and 7, allowing you to bypass a giant portion of the stage. In fact, if you wish to complete this stage quickly, you should take advantage of this shortcut.

The horizontal underground passage connects the left end of Section 2 with the middle of Section 3. While the shortcut is less useful, the two 100 Ryo boxes are worth collecting. Especially since you won't find any Passes down here, so you'll need to save up your money to buy them.

Hell[edit]

Striking the red scarfed statue in Section 8 will send you to hell. By now, you probably know the drill: Simply run all the way to the right until you find the statue that you can hit which will send you back above ground. Avoid as many enemies as you can, and don't jump into the pits or the lava.
