Ganbare Goemon 2 Stage 6 map.png

The sixth stage of the game takes place in the region of Chubu. The Chūbu region is the central region of Honshū, Japan's main island. The region is the widest part of Honshū and the central part is characterized by high, rugged mountains. The Japanese Alps divide the country into the Pacific side, sunny in winter, and the Sea of Japan side, snowy in winter. This plays out in the game, as you are forced to scale a very high mountain in order to get through it. That is, unless you locate the one and only underground passage which not only contains two Passes, but another valuable item and serves as an incredible shortcut through the stage.

Sections 4, 5, and 6[edit]

Ganbare Goemon 2 Stage 6 section 456.png

Sections 4, 5, and 6 are part of a connected maze that you must navigate. You first enter near the upper left corner of Section 4. The goal is to reach the upper right corner of Section 6. The fastest way to do that, is to run to the right from the entrance, and take the first passage up, which connects the top of Section 4 to the bottom of Section 6. Then run to the right, past the first alley that leads up to the top, and take the second alley instead. Then follow that all the way to the right to reach the entrance to Section 7. Of course, if you follow this path, you'll miss out on a few hidden items in the forest, but you may not feel that they're worth the extra effort. You can fire at will in this section without fear of hitting any women and losing money, since you will not encounter any women on these paths.

Hidden gyro 1

As soon as you enter Section 4, head down and to the left until you find a lone bush on the path. Jump over the bush to make a gyro appear. Collect it and then smash into enemies while you're invincible.

Hidden Penguin

Along the bottom of Section 4, near the middle, is a long row of statues below a white sign. Shoot the area to the right of the which sign to make a penguin appear. Collect the penguin to earn 100 Ryo.

Hidden extra

To find this hidden extra life, you'll have to make your way toward the lower left corner of Section 5. If you make it there, you'll see a pair of statues to the left of an alley that leads up. Shoot the space above the pair of statues to reveal an extra life.

Hidden gyro 2

There is a second gyro hidden away in a bush in Section 6. This bush can be found up and to the right of the path with the small red d label. Jump over this bush to reveal the gyro, and collect it for invincibility.

Section 7[edit]

To continue on your journey, you must now scale a very tall mountain and reach the top. Along the way, you will be attacked by guards and birds. Around halfway up the mountain, you will also begin to see boulders falling down along the way. At certain points, the path up the mountain divides between the right side and the left side. Usually, you can take either path to reach the top, but on occasion, you may find that the path you've chosen doesn't allow you to keep jumping up to the next level. If that's the case, don't be afraid to leap across from one side of the screen to the other; you will not take any damage no matter how far you fall. And don't forget that if you need to drop down, for whatever reason, you can do so by holding down while pressing jump. That includes returning to Section 6. When you reach the top, head right to reach Section 8.

Section 8[edit]

Ganbare Goemon 2 Stage 6 section 8.png

This section of the game will resemble one of the long vertical pathways in stage 4, only you don't ever have to worry about falling into a pit and getting killed. You are frequently forced to choose between a left and right path. One choice will continue on to the bottom, while the other will dead-end. If you choose wrong, simply retrace your steps and try again. You can fire continuously at the guards which roam this section. Make you're way to the very bottom to reach Section 9.

It takes a little work to locate the map for this dungeon since it's not on an immediate path. To find it, start heading south. Take the first westerly path when you have the opportunity, and then take the first opportunity to travel south again, and you'll find the map in a corner. The upper portion of the dungeon (where the pass is located) has many more paths to explore, but the path through the bottom portion to the exit is a bit more straightforward.
! If you strike this statue, you will be taken to hell.
Hidden gyro

Between doors J and K, there are two sets of bushes that line the bottom coast line. Jump over the bushes on the right to make a gyro appear. Just be careful not to fall into the water when trying to collect the gyro.

Underground[edit]

As mentioned above, this underground path is crucial for your completion of the stage. Not only does this one path contain two Passes, it also contains a Package which will extend your health meter another four bars. And it serves as a tremendous shortcut between Sections 2 and 9, allowing you to bypass the forest maze and the ascent over the mountain and back down entirely.

Hell[edit]

Striking the red scarfed statue in Section 9 will send you to hell. Try to avoid doing so, as running through hell offers no benefits. As you get further into the game, each version of hell gets a little bit longer.
