On January 10, 2007, Gears of War received its first downloadable content package which included the following content:
- New multiplayer map - Old Bones
- New multiplayer map - Raven Down
Note: It is possible that Auto-Update 1 is also in this download, but it has not been confirmed
"Gears of War-Multiplayer Map Pack 1 Brought to you by Discovery Channel" was a free download sponsored by Discovery Channel and Future Weapons.
This download appears on the Xbox 360's HDD as a 98.62 MB file with the name "Map Pack 1".
'Hidden Fronts' Multiplayer Map Pack 2[edit | edit source]
On May 3, 2007, Gears of War received its second downloadable content package which included the following content:
- New multiplayer map - Garden
- New multiplayer map - Bullet Marsh
- New multiplayer map - Process
- New multiplayer map - Subway
Note: It is possible that Auto-Update 1, 2, 3 are also in this download, but it has not been confirmed
"'Hidden Fronts' Multiplayer Map Pack 2" had originally cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10), until it was made permanently free on September 3, 2007. Epic Games had wished to put this download out for free right from its release, but Microsoft forced them to charge for it for the first four months.
This download appears on the Xbox 360's HDD as a 230.31 MB file with the name "Map Pack 2".
