This is a page of enemies appearing in Genpei Touma Den. Notice that data will be based on PC-Engine version.

General notes:

  • All enemy generators will drop two life points, but only if destroyed before releasing a certain amount of monsters.
  • Enemies with "Hard" or "Invincible" attribute mean that attacking them without scrolls or Kusanagi may cause a loss in sword points.
  • "Boss" enemies will have lifebar shown.

GT Fuujin.gif Fuujin (風神)

  • Note: He will release character "風" which will push you back. You may attack and destroy the character, but it will only leave a poison mushroom.
  • Trivia:
    • He is a middle boss in the sequel.

GT Raijin.gif Raijin (雷神)

  • Points: 500
  • Drop: 5 Zeni
  • Location: Sanuki
  • Note: He will release some lightning bolts. By the time you encounter him, you will not have the Mirror, so just dodge or cut the bolts.
  • Trivia:
    • When he appears, the background will flash, as if thunder is happening.
    • Like his brother Fuujin, he is also a middle boss in the sequel.

GT Daimajin.gif Daimajin (魔神)

  • Note: One shot of sword wave in the chest can eliminate him.
  • Trivia:
    • More than Fuujin and Raijin, he is a boss in the sequel.

    • They do not drop items directly. Instead, they tend to hide something in their locations.
    • Most of the time, they will hide an item of 1000 points, being one of: Galaxian Flagship (GT Galaxian Flagship.gif), Rally-X Special Flag (GT Special Flag.gif), Libble Rabble Hoblin (GT Hoblin.gif), or generic red car (GT Red Car.gif). Among them, the generic red car is the only item that debuts in this game.
    • There is exactly one Stone Lion guarding a Magatama, in Setsu the hidden stage.

GT Bird.gif Bird (鳥)

  • Points: 500
  • Drop: 1 Zeni
  • Trivia:
    • Besides of certain stages, they mainly appear if Kagekiyo takes too long in any Big Mode or Over Mode stage.
    • In Over Mode stages, Kagekiyo must jump in order to attack them.
    • They will only respawn more until Kagekiyo leaves the stage or dies.

GT Tekyuu.gif Tekyuu (鉄球)

  • Attribute: Invincible
  • Note: There are four variations:
    • As a field gimmick, that starts moving vertically when you are close;
    • As a field gimmick, that swings over a certain area;
    • As a throwing weapon by Benkei (described below);
    • As part of Benkei's pole weapon that, when this Benkei is defeated, the spiked ball will stay on the ground.

GT Saito Musashibo Benkei.gif Saito Musashibo Benkei (西塔武蔵坊弁慶)

  • Attribute: Hard, Boss
  • Life: 60 (throw balls) or 100 (polearm)
  • Points: 1400
  • Drop: 3 Sword (throw balls) or 5 Sword (polearm)
  • Note:
    • There are two variations: The early one throws spiked balls. After Kyoto, he will always wield a rod with a spiked ball.
    • His weakness point in arcade and PS version is his head. In the PC-Engine version however, his leg shall be your attack target.

GT Minamoto no Yoshitsune.gif Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源義経)

  • Attribute: Hard (sword), Boss
  • Life: 40 (dagger) or 60 (sword)
  • Points: 1400
  • Drop: 5 Sword (both)
  • Note:
    • There are two variations: One will throw daggers at you, the other will attack you with a long sword, and may use rolling slash if you are too far away.

GT Biwa Houshi.gif Biwa Houshi (琵琶法師)

  • Attribute: Invincible
  • Note:
    • He will always stay ahead of Kagekiyo on the right side of the screen, and release below two enemies for a few times before he leaves.
  • Trivia:
    • A glitch in the PlayStation version allows player to kill him. There is even a counter for that.

  • Note: Only summoned by Biwa Houshi.

Minamoto no Yoritomo (源頼朝)

  • Attribute: Boss
  • Life: 80 (each form)
  • Note: Kagekiyo must have all three sacred items in order to defeat his arch-enemy for good.
  • Trivia:
    • If you waste too much time in a small mode stage, or visit certain areas, he will appear in the background and try to smash you with fan. In this case he is invincible.
