Massive Damage released Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander to Steam Early Access on April 20, 2016. Prior to that, it had been available in Alpha and Beta stages to appropriate tiers of Kickstarter backers and pre-orderers. The release version was available to Early Access players on September 6, 2016, three days prior to full release on Mac OS and Linux.

The game is set far in the future, with players needing to use turn-based combat and management skills to survive whatever the game throws at them.
