Horizons: Empire of Istaria is an MMORPG set in the fictional world of Istaria where players battle the forces of the Withered Aegis. Tulga Games, the developer of the game, has announced an expansion to the game, titled Horizons: The Settlements as well as a new MMORPG titled Dark World Online. Since its release, Horizons: Empire of Istaria has been plagued by performance issues, but Tulga Games has progressively been fixing these issues with the game.
On July 21, 2006, EI Interactive acquired the game from Tulga Games, to the surprise of the community and employees at Tulga Games. EI Interactive has expressed interest in hiring employees from Tulga Games to create the "Horizons Team" with pre-existing employees from EI. However, as of August, 2007, only one former Tulga employee, Amadan, has been hired to work for EI.
