Abilities are passive powers that can boost stats, provide support and protection, or improve one's Spirits. They are unlocked by spending a Spirit's Link Points on their Ability Link boards. Once learned, they are automatically installed. However, abilities are Spirit-specific, meaning that if you change your party, your abilities will change as well.

Many abilities can be installed multiple times. For instance, HP Boost can be installed up to five times. Rather than being redundant, this creates a cumulative effect.

Stat Abilities

  • HP Boost - Increases HP by 5%, can be installed up to 5 times
  • Fire Boost - Increases the power of Fire Attacks by 10%, can be installed up to three times
  • Blizzard Boost - Increases the power of Blizzard Attacks by 10%, can be installed up to three times
  • Thunder Boost - Increases the power of Thunder Attacks by 10%, can be installed up to three times
  • Water Boost - Increases the power of Water Attacks by 10%, can be installed up to three times
  • Cure Boost - Increases the amount of HP recovered with Curative commands by 30%, can be installed up to three times
  • Cure Boost - Increases the amount of HP recovered with Item commands by 50%, and Link Gauge Refill by 10%, can be installed up to three times
  • Attack Haste - Shortens attack command reload times by 16% with the first two installs and 8% with the next three
  • Magic Haste - Shortens magic command reload times by 16% with the first two installs and 8% with the next three
  • Attack Boost - Raises Strength by 1, can be installed up to three times
  • Magic Boost - Raises Magic by 1, can be installed up to three times
  • Defense Boost - Raises Defense by 1, can be installed up to three times
  • Fire Screen - Increases Resistance to Fire by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Blizzard Screen - Increases Resistance to Blizzard by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Thunder Screen - Increases Resistance to Thunder by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Water Screen - Increases Resistance to Water by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Dark Screen - Increases Resistance to Dark by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Light Screen - Increases Resistance to Light by 10%, can be installed up to five times
  • Mini Block - Prevents Mini
  • Blindness Block - Prevents Blindness
  • Confusion Block - Prevents Confusion
  • Bind Block - Prevents Bind
  • Poison Block - Prevents Poison
  • Slow Block - Prevents Slow
  • Sleep Block - Prevents Sleep
  • Stop Block - Prevents Stop
  • Reload Boost - Shortens Reload times by 75% when HP is below 25%
  • Defender - Increases Defense by 4 when HP is below 25%

Support Abilities

  • Combo Plus - Adds one attack to ground combos, can be installed up to three times
  • Air Combo Plus - Adds one attack to aerial combos, can be installed up to three times
  • Combo Master - Allows a combo to continue even if an attack fails to hit
  • EXP Boost - Doubles the EXP gained when HP is below 25%
  • EXP Walker - Awards 1 EXP for every step taken
  • EXP Zero - Prevents any EXP gain, Proud Mode Only
  • Damage Syphon - Charges Link Gauges by 0.5 to 0.8 percent every time one takes damage
  • Second Chance - Retains 1 HP after a hit that would finish you off, unless you're already at 1 HP
  • Once More - Retains 1 HP throughout a combo, unless you're already at 1 HP
  • Scan - Displays the HP of targeted enemies
  • Leaf Bracer - Prevents damage from occurring during Curative spells
  • Treasure Magnet - Automatically scoops up prizes in range, expanding reach by 43% per install. Can be installed up to five times.

Spirit Abilities

  • Link Critical - Charges a Link Gauge when you and a Spirit land attacks on the same foe within 0.5 seconds of each other. Also generates a shock-wave that causes physical damage to foes.
  • Support Boost - Extends the duration of Spirit support magic by 20 percent, can be installed up to three times
  • Waking Dream - Spirits retain 1 HP after a hit that would finish them off, unless they're already at 1 HP
