Now that you've finally rebuilt the Star Rod, Kirby can restore the Fountain of Dreams. King Dedede will try to stop Kirby, begging him not to, but he will insert the rod into the fountain anyway. At that point, however, an threatening bubble will come out of the fountain, expelling the Star Rod, before flying into the sky. This is the real cause of the problems of Dreamland, not the king. King Dedede will then suck up Kirby by hurling him into the sky together with the Star Rod, to allow him to fight the ultimate enemy.

Boss - Nightmare Orb[edit]

Nightmare Orb

Your final enemy has two forms, which you have to fight one after the other. In both battles you have a special weapon, the Star Rod, which cannot be used elsewhere. When you attack, the Star Rod fires a star, which moves quickly in a straight line in the direction you're facing. First, you have to defeat this Orb, in the space. During the battle you will automatically fly and you can control Kirby's movements with the Control Pad. The boss generally remains on the right of the screen, so you have to keep to the left. The Nightmare Orb attacks you by shooting a multitude of dark stars, which can move in various ways (but always in a straight line) and which you must avoid. Sometimes, the boss will charge you, coming quickly in your direction, be ready to avoid it. Every now and then, the boss will move randomly in a vertical direction, shooting energy waves that move very quickly. You must therefore avoid the boss's attacks, while trying to hit it with the Star Rod. In this fight there is then a new difficulty, which can create problems for you. That is, you must defeat the Nightmare Orb within a set time. If you take too long, you will crash to the ground and immediately lose a life. Look at the clouds, which will become increasingly clear: when you are in white clouds, the crash is imminent. You must therefore try to aim well and land as many hits as possible with the Star Rod, to deplete the boss's vital energy before the crash. It takes many hits to defeat the Orb. When its life energy is reduced to zero, the Orb will fly away and a Warp Star will appear. Quickly get on the Warp Star to chase it and start the final confrontation.

Boss - Nightmare Vampire[edit]

The final boss

In the second battle, the final enemy will reveal his true, vampire-like appearance. The Warp Star will vanish and the battle will begin. In this fight you will no longer fly automatically, you must use your normal moves. The moving background may confuse you, ignore it and behave as in a normal screen. The boss moves around the screen in various ways, sometimes disappearing and then reappearing at another point. You have to avoid both the boss and the stars that shoot at you. Also in this battle you have the Star Rod at your disposal, which you can also use as a normal sword, as well as to throw the stars. It is generally advisable to stay on the floor as much as possible, flying only when necessary to avoid the boss's attacks or to attack him. The major difficulty of the fight lies in the fact that to damage the boss, you have to hit his flashing energy core, which is only visible at times, when the boss moves his cloak. The best times to hit the boss are when he stops to shoot the stars and when he attacks you like a spinning top. If you are defeated, you will directly restart this fight, it is no longer necessary to face the Orb. Hit the boss in his weak spot about six times to finally kill him and complete the game. Than you will see the final movie.

After completing the game, you have the option to start it all over again with a higher difficulty level (i.e. with up to three notches of life energy) or to play minigames.
