Long and difficult to jump over, they sometimes stop to shoot projectiles from their claws.	Wasps tend to fly around in groups. They home in on you and never stop attacking until they are defeated	Mule men wander around inside pyramids and shoot heat-seeking projectiles at you.
Rock	Earth elemental	Flame elemental
Indestructible rocks fall from the ceiling, bouncing on any platform that may intercept their fall along the way.	Earth elementals stomp around inside the pyramid, paying little attention to any obstacles that might be in their way. They surround themselves with a field of flames, and they stop periodically to bang on the floor and create an avalanche of rocks.	Flame elementals bob up and down as they float back and forth on the screen until they are defeated. Sometimes they release little flames when they are frozen in place by an attack.
Green dragon	Red Dragon	Moai statue
These green dragons are highly intelligent and instantly, but slowly, descend upon any intruders that they encounter with their fiery breath.	A lone red dragon defends a stairwell. However, other than his color, he is identical to his green brethren.	These fixed creations remain stationary against the wall. They sit with an open mouth, and expanding rings of energy are shot from it.
Mini Moai	Boss Moai
Mini Moais appear on the floor along the approach to the boss Moai at the bottom of the stage. They hop around and generally make a nuisance of themselves.	A large and mobile Moai head serves as the defender of the key in this stage. He also hops around, stopping to release energy rings, before proceeding to bounce around his room.

Stage description

Many ways to break walls

The main reason you went to Template:~ first and rescued Fuuma before coming here, was for Fuuma's talent at breaking blocks with his sword. However, this is not the only method that you have to break blocks. In fact King Kong, who you probably rescued before Fuuma, can break blocks with his special weapon, although it costs you a bullet every time you throw a boulder. Even Fuuma's special weapon, the shuriken, can be used to break walls, although this costs three bullets per throw. Once you rescue Moai, you'll have yet another character who can break blocks. He can crush them with his powerful head-butt, and he can also shoot them down with his energy ring. Using energy rings while squatting is the only method Moai has to remove blocks at his feet.

Not long after you've begun investigating the interior of the pyramid, you will come upon a section where rocks rain down from the ceiling. They can't be destroyed, so you'll have to do your best to pay attention to where they appear, and jump out of the way before they hit you. Further along, you will reach a point that requires you to jump from one moving platform to the next. In between each platform is a jet of flame that shoots up from the floor that you must time your leaps through to remain safe. However, you can easily reduce the difficulty of this section of you choose to fly through it instead.

Contending with the Moai

In order to obtain the key that can unlock Moai's prison, you need to defeat a large boss Moai and his small brethren. They all like to hop around and shoot energy rings from their mouth. Once you break through the wall and approach the small Moai, you may be tempted to clear them out of your way as you walk further in. However, doing so will cause more small Moai to appear. Additionally, all small Moai will be removed when you defeat the boss Moai, so it may be a better use of your time to ignore the small Moai and go straight for the boss. Once you reach the boss, you can choose whichever strategy you like best, whether its flying and shooting, or sticking with Simon Belmont's tried and true boomerang attack. Once the boss Moai is defeated, all of the Moai will disappear, leaving the key behind.

Moai mouths and a warp

Once you have collected the key, you will need to travel deeper into the left side of the pyramid, where you will encounter large Moai statues that appear set into the background. They fire more rings at you. Because they look like part of the background, you may think your only option is to race past them, but it is actually possible to break their ring firing mechanism by attacking them frequently in the mouth. If you hit them enough, the rings will stop appearing. After you rescue Moai, don't forget to search for his own special weapon, the energy rings, before leaving the level. When you are ready, you can make use of a convenient warp located just to the left of the first background Moai statue (shown left).
