Advance commands are a series of secret button presses within Bros. Attacks. These secret commands can add more power to your attacks to cause greater damage. These can be unlocked after performing a Bros. Attack a certain amount of times.
These are the advance commands. These secret button commands are only usable once you have unlocked them.

Splash Bros.
|
While Mario spins through the air, press when over Luigi. Mario will then stop spinning and fall down. Press to have Luigi launch Mario back into the air, then when Mario lands on the targeted enemy. In Bowser's Minions, Mario instead bounces off Luigi three times before stomping the targeted enemy. Press for the first two bounces, for the final bounce, then when landing on the targeted enemy. This attack is immune to spikes, and in the original version this deals double-damage to spiked enemies, while in Bowser's Minions it deals double-damage to non-spiked enemies. |

Bounce Bros.
|
Press when Luigi jumps over Mario. Mario then jumps up to Luigi and joins up with him. Press upon landing to have the bros split up to attack two separate enemies. Press when Luigi nears his enemy, then when Mario nears his. |

Chopper Bros.
|
Press when Mario is jumping onto Luigi. Luigi will then move under the targeted enemy. Press to have Luigi launch them into the air, then to have Mario dunk Luigi back into the ground. The last two action commands can be performed repeatedly with proper timing (indefinitely in the original version, up to eight times in Bowser's Minions). |

Knockback Bros
|
Press when Mario shrinks. Luigi then swats Mario at the enemy. Press upon contact with the enemy to cause extra damage and rebound back toward Luigi. Then press when Mario reaches Luigi to perform the attack a again. The last two action commands can be performed repeatedly with proper timing (indefinitely in the original version, up to five times in Bowser's Minions). |

Cyclone Bros.
|
Press when Luigi leans back from the opponent. Mario then lifts Luigi up, where the player needs to press . Mario then brings Luigi down on the enemy, damaging and possibly dizzying them. |

Swing Bros.
|
Press when Luigi comes back toward Mario. Mario then jumps towards Luigi, and the bros join up and lower over the targeted enemy. and alternatively (in Bowser's Minions and instead) to steal items from the enemy. In Bowser's Minions, this move deals damage, as well. |

Thunder Bros.
|
Press when Luigi Jumps onto Mario. Mario then moves back and brings out his hammer. Press for Mario to perform a form of the Luigi Dunk. Luigi then travels under the enemy where you need to press . A giant bolt of electricity erupts from the ground onto the enemy, inflicting them with POW-Down. |

Fire Bros
|
Press immediately after Luigi swats the fireball. The fireballs then collect above Mario into one giant fireball. Once Mario is done throwing fireballs, he jumps up off Luigi towards the giant fireball. Press to spike the giant fireball at the targeted enemy. This particular action command requires great timing so practice will be needed. In Bowser's Minions, to have Mario throw fire into one giant fireball, then for Luigi to boost it into the air, and finally to spike the fireball down, dealing splash damage to the targeted and surrounding grounded enemies. |
