Mario Hoops 3-on-3 is a basketball game with an exaggerated take on the real sport. Players must collect coins from classic Mario "?" panels scattered throughout the court. Each coin the player collects will raise the total number of points they will receive the next time they score a basket. This game lets the player to choose a team of three from many characters from the Mario and Final Fantasy series, once unlocked.
Multiplayer is available in the game, with support for two to four players in Coin Hunters or Dribble Race using DS Download Play or multi-card play. If two players have a copy of the game, they will also able to play an Exhibition match against each other.
