Marvel Land is a platform arcade game, that was released by Namco in 1989 for arcades. It ran on Namco's System 2 arcade hardware, was Namco's final title released in the 1980s, and was later ported to the Sega Genesis in 1991. The Genesis version of the game was released under the name of Talmit's Adventure in the European Union on account of the fact that it had renamed the main character, from Prince Paco to Prince Talmit, and had also renamed the Princess from Luxy to Wondra. The ported game also shares its name with the kingdom where the old Japan-only 1986 Famicom title Valkyrie no Bōken: Toki no Kagi Densetsu takes place. Marvel Land has no connection with Marvel Comics.

Introduction

The player must take control of Prince Paco who is on a mission to save Princess Luxy from the evil "Mole King". Gameplay is similar to that of Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. series, and uses several elements from Namco's own Pac-Land (which was released five years earlier). The power-ups include speed shoes that allow Paco to walk faster for a short period of time, a clone attack that allows him to strike out at the enemies by whipping five clones of himself in a straight line, and dragon wings which allow him to jump higher and fly temporarily. Most levels have an enormous target at the end (akin to the flagpoles from that aforementioned Super Mario Bros.) that must be jumped through for 100 to 7650 (Namco's goroawase number) points, while boss battles are fought out in the manner of "mini-games" (rock-paper-scissors or "Jan-ken" for Worlds 1 and 4, tug-of-war for Worlds 2 and 3).
