Marvel vs. Capcom/Rogue

Rogue (Anna Marie Raven) is a member of the X-Men. More than most mutants, Rogue considers her powers a curse. She involuntarily absorbs the memories, physical strength, and, in the case of super-powered persons, abilities of anyone she touches. This prevents her from making physical contact with others, including her longtime on-and-off again love interest Gambit. Hailing from Mississippi, she is the X-Men's self-described southern belle. A runaway, she was adopted by Mystique of the Brotherhood of Mutants but turned to the X-Men when the aftereffects of her repeated use of her mutant power - particularly the permanent absorption of Ms. Marvel's psyche and Kree powers - threatened her sanity.

Much later in Rogue's career, the X-Men divided into two teams to better make use of their large number of active members, Rogue was assigned to the Blue Team, under the leadership of Cyclops and alongside new X-Man Gambit. Rogue and Gambit were immediately attracted to each other, but the development of their relationship was slow and rocky, partly as a result of her inability to control her powers and partly as a result of long-term issues with secrecy, dishonesty, and fear of intimacy on both sides. Gambit and Rogue have one of the longest standing X-Men relationships, probably only second to Cyclops and Jean Grey. Following the supposed 'death' of Cyclops, the X-Men team underwent major changes, amongst them Rogue being made the team's new field commander. Her even temper and years of X-Men service made her an ideal leader and she continued to lead the team until Storm returned.

Rogue's mutant ability allows her to absorb the essence of anyone she touches through skin to skin contact. This includes their personality, memories, and often their physical characteristics. In the case of super-powered individuals, she also absorbs any extra abilities they might possess. This transfer is usually temporary, lasting for a period of time relative to how long contact is maintained, but if Rogue holds on to her victim for too long, the transfer may become permanent, leaving the victim dead. As a young woman Rogue permanently absorbed the many powers and psyche of Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers); Superhuman strength, superhuman durability to most forms of physical harm, flight, precognitive seventh sense, and resistance to telepathy.

Absorbed Powers[edit]

X-Men vs. Street Fighter[edit]

In X-Men vs. Street Fighter, you can use the Power Drain or the Goodnight Sugar Hyper Combo to absorb an ability from your opponent, as listed:

Opponent Move absorbed
Akuma Zankuu Hadou Ken and Shun Goku Satsu
Cammy Cannon Drill
Charlie Sonic Boom
Chun-Li Kikouken
Cyclops Optic Blast
Dhalsim Yoga Flame
Gambit Kinetic Card
Juggernaut Earthquake Punch
Ken Shoryuken
Magneto Hyper Gravitation
M. Bison Psycho Shot
Rogue nothing
Ryu Hadouken
Sabretooth Berserker Barrage
Storm Whirlwind
Wolverine Berserker Barrage
Zangief Screw Piledriver

Note that both Wolverine and Sabretooth will give you the same ability. As for Akuma, the Zankuu Hadou Ken can only be used while jumping. If you have one level of Hyper Combo power stored, you can also use the Shun Goku Satsu (it's performed the same as Akuma: Arcade-Button-LPunch.pngArcade-Button-LPunch.pngArcade-Stick-Right.pngArcade-Button-LKick.pngArcade-Button-HPunch.png). Don't forget that Rogue's stolen abilities aren't exactly like her opponent's. For instance, her Optic Blast doesn't go in three directions, and she cannot perform the Shoryuken in mid-air. Her Screw Piledriver can be Tech Hit.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2[edit]

In Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Rogue's Power Drain and "Goodnight, Sugah" HC no longer steal powers from hit characters. Instead, she gets a bonus to one of her abilities (speed, attack power, defense power, etc.) for a limited duration. The bonus ability ends when your timer runs out, or you switch out. The bonus changes depending on the character, and all the bonuses are listed below. If something is listed in parenthesis after a character, it means that the bonus changes under those conditions. For example, Jin will give you a Defence Up bonus normally, but when he has Super Armor, you will get a Super Armor bonus. Similarily, when Silver Samurai has used his Touki "Ikazuchi" ability, the bonus changes from Defence Up to Speed Up. The list is as follows:

Bonus Drained from
Defense Up: reduces the damage you take from attacks Captain America (without his shield), Colossus, Dr. Doom, Guile, Iceman, Iron Man, Jin Saotome, Magneto, Omega Red, Roll, Ruby Heart, Sakura Kasugano, Silver Samurai, Spiral, Tron Bonne, War Machine, Zangief
Life Up: restores any red (recoverable) life Anakaris, Bulleta, Dan Hibiki, Dhalsim, Jill Valentine, Kobun, Shuma-Gorath, Spiral (Metamorphose)
Power Up: increases the damage your attacks inflict Amingo, Blackheart, Cable, Captain America (with shield), Captain Commando, Cyclops, Gouki, Hayato (Plasma Field), Juggernaut (Cyttorak Power-Up), Ken Masters, Nash, Rockman, Ryu, Sabretooth, Sakura Kasugano (Hiyakeshita Sakura), Silver Samurai (Touki "Honoo"), Spiral (Power Dance), Shuma-Gorath (Chaos Dimension), Thanos, Vega, Venom
Speed Up: makes you move faster and your attacks come out quickly Cammy, Chun-Li, Felicia, Gambit, Hayato, Marrow, Morrigan, Psylocke, Silver Samurai (Touki "Ikazuchi"), Sonson, Spider-Man, Spiral (Speed Dance), Storm, Strider, Wolverine, Adamantium-less Wolverine
Super Armor: an orange meter appears and you have Super Armor Hulk, Jin Saotome (Super Armor), Juggernaut, Sentinel, Silver Samurai (Touki "Koori" x1-2)
Hyper Armor: a gray meter appears and you have Hyper Armor Colossus (Super Armor), Rogue (when she's stolen the 'Hyper Armor' ability from someone), Silver Samurai (Touki "Koori" x3), Zangief (Iron Body).
No Bonus Rogue (even when she has a bonus ability, as long as it isn't Hyper Armor), any Life Up bonus giving character when you already have full recoverable life.

Note that for both Super and Hyper Armor, each time the 'armor' is activated, the timer gauge will stop counting down momentarily. This means that the more you're attacked, the longer you keep your armor.
