This guide is for the 2000 Sony PlayStation 2 game. For the 2006 Sony PlayStation Portable and 2007 arcade games, see MotoGP (2006) and MotoGP (2007).

MotoGP is a racing game that was initially released by Namco for the Sony PlayStation 2 in Japan on October 12, 2000, then later in the United States on October 26 of that same year, and finally in the European Union on February 16, 2001; it is based on the company's 1998 arcade title 500 GP, but there is no mention of what season it represents (if any) on the cover artwork. However, due to the game's inclusion of the Muz 500 cycle, and the Circuit Paul Ricard, it can be deduced that it at least contains some of the 1999 season - albeit with a severely reduced cycle/team/rider/track list. The game's four sequels MotoGP 2 (PS2, 2001), MotoGP 3 (PS2/Mobile, 2003), MotoGP 4 (PS2, 2005), and MotoGP (Sony PlayStation Portable, 2006) later went on to fill in the gaps and became more of a true representation of the seasons they covered; furthermore, following Namco's merger with Bandai to become Bandai Namco Games a MotoGP arcade game was also released in 2007.
