Information around Aukba[edit]

When you talk to the Dezoians in Aukba, they mention a bit about a crevice, and a man who lives beyond it who lives beyond the crevice. This man seems to have escaped to Dezo from another planet, has strange powers and never seems to age. If you are fully equipped, it's time to take a trip to this crevice and find out more.

The crevice is a smaller version of the black pit that Skure is located inside of. It is found by walking to the west of Akuba, and then south after you pass a mountain range and reach a patch of forest. You will see the big pit. On the right side of the pit are a subtle set of stairs which you can use to access the interior of the crevice.

The Crevice[edit]

The crevice is a large cavern with three floors. There are no treasure chests to find, but there are plenty of dangerous enemies to fight. Excluding the stairs you used to access the crevice, there are three exits. Two of those exits lead to dead-ends in the wilderness, but one will lead to the destination you seek, the home of the man with strange powers. To find the right exit, you'll have to explore a good portion of the crevice, traveling all the way down to the lowest floor and back up again. There is a large pit in the middle of the crevice. Falling through it will bring you to the lowest level, from which you will have to climb back out in order to get back on track.

Floor 1[edit]

You begin in the far right portion of the crevice. As you walk to the left, the pit will come into view. It's best to avoid getting near the pit entirely, and instead hug the upper wall. Keep following it as it turns right and leads to a staircase at the top. This will take you on a journey through the lower levels of the crevice. If you follow the right path, you will return to the first floor through the stairway near the bottom of the floor, which is a short distance from the exit you need to take.

Basement 1[edit]

If you took the upper staircase from the first floor, you will arrive near the top of this floor. You'll need to wind all the way around the path through this floor. Along the way, you'll see a staircase back up, but ignore it and continue on your way to the right. Follow the path until you reach a staircase which goes further down. When you return to this floor, you'll come up through a staircase located near the right side. It will deposit you on a path that you must walk straight down to find the next staircase back to the first floor.

Basement 2[edit]

If you arrived here by falling through the pit, you'll land in the upper half of this floor, and you'll need to ascend back up to the first floor to get back on the right track. If you came here via the stairs in the floor above, you'll arrive in the lower portion. Walk up and to the right to find stairs back to the first basement, and on your way to the correct exit.

Esper Mansion[edit]

Once you exit the crevice, walk to the west until you find a building. Enter the building and some people in robes will indicate that they've been waiting for you. The person you need to speak with can be found in the level below. When you walk down the stairs, you'll find some attendants by a sleeping chamber. They will wake up the occupant, who claims to be none other than Lutz, the Esper who fought alongside Alis in the original Phantasy Star (and who was renamed Noah in the American version).

Lutz has been waiting for you to arrive. As a descendant of Alis, he believes you may possess the ability to find and stop Mother Brain once and for all. But in order to do that, you're going to need to find eight pieces of equipment first, known as the "Nei" items. These eight pieces are found across Dezo in four buildings. It just so happens that you've been unable to see these buildings without the proper item. Lutz gives you an item called the Prism. Once in your possession, you will be able to see these building and access them. Lutz instructs you to visit each building, and return with all eight Nei items.
