Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice/Episode 3: The Rite of Turnabout/Trial, Day 1

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

Before the trial[edit]

Your only hope for the trial is the motive that Lady Kee'ra had to kill the victim. Maya is still down, but Her Benevolence asserts that the miracle that occurred in Ahlbi's trial won't happen again. You try to cheer up Maya saying that she needs to present "The Plumed Punisher" back at the states. Maya says that she will be your co-counsel just like she did years ago.

You and Nahyuta finally meet, even though you've already heard of him from Apollo. Just like with Apollo, Nayuta doesn't seem intimidated by you, and even intends to send you to Hell before he does the same to Apollo. He then explains the case at hand, giving more details. The murder weapon still hasn't been found, but Maya and the high priest were the only ones in the Inner Sanctum. The Inner Sanctum Diagram is added to the Court Record.

First, let's listen to Rayfa's Insights.

Rayfa's Insight[edit]

Rayfa Padma Khura'in

Rayfa's Insight
Tahrust Inmee's Final Memories
  1. The victim commenced the Purification Rite by bowing to the lanterns and reading a sutra.
  2. As the first part, the Transformation Rite, ended, he lowered the sutra. Suddenly...
  3. ...he heard the accused's approaching footsteps and smelled her incense-laden robes.
  4. It was then that the victim felt an intense pain. I believe this is when he was stabbed.
  5. As his life's blood spilled over, his vision dimmed, till finally, he passed from our world.

The Inner Sanctum Diagram is updated in the Court Record to reflect the position of Maya and Abbot Inmee. If you need a refresher on how to point out contradictions in the Insights, select Let's check, just in case. Otherwise, select I'm fine. There is more fluctuation in the sensations compared to last time, so you will also have to take into account any change of intensity.

On the third statement and fifth panel, select the Footsteps sound. Maya supposedly approached the victim, but her footsteps would be strange in that case since They don't get louder. To elucidate this contradiction, Rayfa refines the sensation by deepening her communication with the victim's soul. The Footsteps become Bells. That would mean it was Tahrust Inmee who was approaching the Lady Keera in the vision. The Inner Sanctum Diagram is updated to take that new fact into account. But for the moment, that new fact does not change anything. Rayfa still updates her third statement:

  • ...he rushed the accused and tried to fight her off by the broken lantern.

On the new third statement and fifth panel, select the Water sound that comes after the Bells sound. With Rayfa's refinement, the sounds heard by the victim are much clearer, and if it was the victim who walked, he must have walked into water. That changes Maya's location during the night of the crime. Present the spring on the diagram. This reverses their original positions, and the Inner Sanctum Diagram is updated to reflect it. That doesn't change any of the facts nevertheless. Rayfa updates her third statement:

  • ...he rushed the accused and tried to fight her off by the spring-side lantern.

On the new third statement and fourth panel, select the lantern sight while the Wind sound is blowing. Normally, there should have been wind guards on the lanterns, so how could the flame flicker? Rayfa is not impressed with your findings and refines the vision to show the lantern does not have a wind guard indeed. But they just were removed for the Rite of Fire, then put back on by the police to keep the flame from being extinguished.

On the third statement and second panel, select the lantern sight when the victim looks right.

Based on the broken lantern, we can tell...
